Still a Neverwinter Nights community?

I recently bumped open NWN (version 1, not 2) and saw that there has been a major software update. Looks like quite a lot of online sites require the new version, even.

Is this one of those games that just hit the mark better than those around it or even those after it, and continues to live on fairly healthily?

Oh man...I need to go check this out. I pull this out every year or so and the game is always different and enjoyable.

Never got NWN 2...so I guess I'm no help.

I'm actually playing through NWN diamond edition riht now, on Chapter 3. My brutish level 11 fighter type guy is plugging away.

Weird thing is, I started out neutral Good, and suddenly I find myself Chaotic Evil. I don;t recall doing anything really evil to get such a shift, but its entirely possible.

For those who have played it more than once, how is it a brand new game every time? the storyline can't change much, what makes it different?

I think it's the multiplayer environment that I'm speaking to. There is a pretty substantial community of free sites online that host various settings. The single platyer game was okay, in my view, but the game really shines when you take it to an online community.

Anyway - count me in as one who enthusiastically bought NWN2, played it a bit, and never really liked it. For whatever reason, the original NWN seemed to just hit the sweet spot for me, and maybe for a lot of others, too.
