I hate the draft 90% of the time. I had no desire to sit and make up a list today. Usually I do the first 3-4 rounds and then have a clickfest to let the computer do the rest. Today I just let the computer do it all and I end up with my top 3 picks being guys who I am sure will suck.

I make a list long enough to make sure I can pick my first rounder, and then let the AI do the rest....only needed 3 names this season

My draft list is usually 15-20 people long, just long enough to make it through one round as well. I sometimes choose to draft people though that most people don't care much for (which is why most of my minor league players are no good).. so I sometimes get 2 players out of my 20 to draft like this year.

Hey, 14-10 in spring training. Just like last year!
Now, if only everything else goes like last year. Except, you know, the Classic. |

Pretty happy with the spring training results. I used 6 1st or 2nd year pitchers and used 5 starters in the batting lineup that were 1st or 2nd year to give them a try. For the most part good results all around. A few tough decisions now though on which 10 guys will not be making the major leagues this season.

Why oh does my 55/71/44 SP scrub I brought up on a lark have to throw a knock-out spring, and make me wonder if I should chose him over Mr 72/70/75 or Mr 68/67/69 for my #5 spot.
Stupid freakish performances

Ok, this year should suck. My file is already exported/uploaded.
Two very questionable rookies in the field everyday, two questionable rookies in the starting rotation.

DC,
Chief mentioned this before, but i never saw any answer to it.... Service time for players is messed up. It is adding 3 years to some players, but not others. This means many Draft picks for teams end up as a free agent that next year, or the following year, while other draft picks last the few years that are allowed.. What are the league settings for number of service years for free agency set at currently? Any idea why service times for players are screwed up? Are some of these players hitting the draft from another HS or College league that is applying service time when it shouldn't? |

Glad you mentioned that cause I couldnt figure out what was going on. I have some guys that I have to resign this sim but couldnt figure out why I had to. I was like I just traded for or drafted them, and they havent been in anything very many years so I was confused. This makes some sense now. |

Some of the players who are created with more talent are players in one of the five creation categories that must be giving them service time before they start, which is absurd, of course. I have no idea why the game thinks it ought to do this. But it does and the issue is simply those players who are young with some experience are a bit better than the straight draft pool players the game generates. But I'll cut out that laziness. If people post said players when they're up for FA, I'll reset their service time back to where it ought to be, based on when they were drafted. |

ok, i got the succesful upload message, if someone could check to see if they have it that'd be great. i'm home today so if it didn't take i'm around to resend/resolve any issues. thanks!
2 rookie SPs making their debut today. no sense in having them toil in the minors, waaaay too promising to not give them a shot. i got SP Tom Tyler, winner of 16 games last year, on a short leash. his ratings aren't as sexy as rookie Manny Lopez, who i have as a spot starter/middle reliever at the moment. i really want Tyler to fail so i have a reason to switch roles with Lopez, but realistically no way a 16 game winner would be demoted to the bullpen. i can't complain about the AI doing stupid things if i'm not gonna act reasonably myself. its just Lopez has a much much higher ceiling and is obviously gonna be in the majors in 10 years...Tyler...not so much. but 16 games gets you a chance to prove me wrong. no one can ever say Hell Atlantic isn't fair. |

Hi guys. I'm up fully again on generator power for the time being. I have full internet access and will be uploading an export for the season tonight. Hopefully I haven't damaged my team too much, we'll see. Thanks for patience from everyone.

Indeed. Perhaps too much so. I should have spent the afternoon writing some code instead of reading the FOOL forum, and now I'm in a rush to catch up so I'm not here late. "So why are you still posting?" "..." |

Hey guys, I'm going to try and be back by before 10, but I haven't been home all day and I was hoping I could request an extra 15-30 minutes or so when I get home. If not, I understand. Thanks!

Just to point it out because I love the guy and I think he ends up in the Hall of Fame in large part based on this (he BETTER!! )....
OF Andres Aguilera is about to play in his 16th season for the franchise that is Rio Grande (El Paso the first 3 years before the move southeast). It will be his 15th as our every day RF, one was in LF. He is 34, about the be 35 in June. So he was a rookie as an 18/19 year old. 1970 was his last real impact season, but he still helps out. He is also going to be in the most impactful spot of the lineup that he has been in for years, batting 2nd since he still brings a decent OBP to the table.

Man, I am amazingly nervous tonight. I feel like I need to do well this year to prove that last year wasn't a fluke, and I'm honestly not sure if I will. Texas has me fricken scared.
