The Trials of Ted Haggard
This premiers tonight on HBO. It follows him around a year following the incident. Shows him and his family living out of hotels and struggling to start an insurance company.
HBO: The Trials of Ted Haggard Seems pretty interesting. Haggard is one of the few people on this planet who I think is vile, yet at the same time feel sorry for him. Despite his prominence, he was never making millions like the Robertsons and Falwells of the world. The church essentially threw him out and kept a big distance from him (his severance package required him to move out of the state). I saw an interview with him on ABC last night and he was surprisingly forthcoming. I figured we'd get the whole "I was cured" crap, but he didn't go down the road. He admitted everything, including a semi-sexual relationship with a male Church volunteer. He admitted to taking advantage of the young man. When asked about his sexuality, he seemed to teeter on saying bisexual. Sounded like a guy who loves his wife, loves his kids, but likes a little cock from time to time. He came across like a beaten man. Took a shot at his Church and the evangelical community for basically disowning him. Talked about how his negativity toward homosexuality was driven by his own issues. Even said he now understands why secularists have issues with the Church. Don't get me wrong, the guy is probably full of shit and still a raging douchebag. But it seems like an interesting story. The guy is literally at rock bottom in life. All because he wanted some hot gay handjobs. |

Yeah, I was watching HBO last night, and the trailer for this came on. I couldn't look away. I don't know how much of it I'll be able to swallow (probably a lot less than ol' Ted! Zing!), but I'll give it a shot.

It's a shame that his inability to cope with his sexuality first made him a bigoted prick and then led to his ruin. It will be nice in a few generations when almost nobody gives a damn about who you fuck.
