cartman's New Mexico Camping Trip 2009 edition
Hello all,
It has been a few years, but we are once again heading to the mountains of Northern New Mexico for a week of outdoor fun. Any interested FOFCers are more than welcome to join us, for all or part of the time. Here's the details: Where: McCrystal Creek Campground, Valle Vidal Unit, Carson National Forest, New Mexico When: Saturday, June 27th (Leave DFW) to Sunday, July 5th (back in DFW) Activities: we set up a base camp at McCrystal Creek campground, and do exploring from there. If you have a mountain bike, there are tons of places to ride. If you like to fish, there are several lakes as well as miles of streams to go after trout. We plan to hike to the top of Little Costilla Peak, as 12,584 foot tall mountain. We usually make a day trip into Taos/Red River/Cimarron. This year we also plan to take a ride on the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad. We're taking the train trip on Tuesday, June 30th, and choosing the Antonito to Chama by train, return by motorcoach option. Let me know if you are interested, or have any questions, and I'll be glad to help.
