Kobe - Doin work
damn you Spike Lee. I really don't like Kobe, I know this is all just a big PR deal and yet as I a watch him "doin work", I can't help but be impressed and almost even like him.
I am a little jaded by the fact the he obviously knew his every move was being captured. He showed world class leadership in the movie, and a great attitude. Is he like that when the cameras and mike aren't on? Plus no matter what you think of Kobe, you have to give it up for Spike. He is a master filmmaker. For overly obsessed sports fans like myself it was just brilliant. |

Bill Simmons had a great take on how much of a fraud this really is in one of his recent columns. Basically he's seen Kobe play, and that's not how Kobe typically interacts with his teammates. He's clearly playing to the camera.

Haven't read or paid a lot of attention to Kobe's attitude, but the little I have paints him as a borderline sociopath. That would lend itself well to turning it on for the camera.

I heard Kobe wouldn't let Spike release the original version, and so Spike had to edit it to Kobe's liking.

Bullshit. EDIT: But that's just your opinion, so it's not really bullshit. Sorry, had a reactionary moment of caring about what somebody else thought.

I haven't seen that, and I'd be willing to acquiesce to the seemingly unanimous feeling that the movie sucks. I mean, come on, though. 25th Hour, anyone? That was pretty solid, even if it had a silly moment or two.

I forgot he directed The Inside Man. That was pretty good
If you're such a spike fan boy you should have used Radio Raheem getting killed by the cops in Do the Right Thing in the movie draft. . |

I hated Inside Man. I know that Spike Lee likes to have "good guys" that are still very flawed and very human, but this movie was full of characters that were so deplorable that I didn't care what happened to anyone. |

I really thought 25th Hour was underrated outside of the scene in the bathroom mirror.

While I wouldn't call Spike one of my favorite directors, I thought Inside Man was very good and I also enjoyed He Got Game quite a bit.

I really want to see the Nuggets beat the Lakers if only to not hear about Kobe vs. Lebron for anymore this year.

To a non basketball fan (me), Kobe vs. Lebron might be the only thing that gets me to watch the NBA Finals. And Inside Man was a good movie. But they are making a sequel and can't think of how it won't suck. |
