I guess it will come down to which team's DBs can run in the most pick-6s.

This game will clearly define which announcers are at the bottom of the food chain at CBS.

I hope that this game, even if sold out, is mercifully kept off the airwaves.

Ah yes, Crap Bowl II, featuring the team that can't move against anyone vs. the team that can't stop anyone. If it weren't blacked out in my area, it might be worth a watch just to show how badly two professional teams can play.

I'm rooting for Detroit, if only because a lower draft pick means they won't be as tempted to blow it on the offensive player they probably don't need as much as the defensive stud they really need.

The Lions lost to St. Louis, a team that had previously lost 17 games in a row. At home. After a bye week.

I don't see them winning this easily.

Browns offense vs. Lions defense

The Browns' biggest issue is offense. They have none. The Lions, however, have no defense. Teams can move at will on them.

Edge: Push.

Lions offense vs. Browns defense

The Browns have a decent enough defense. The Lions offense has really struggled to move the ball with any consistency or score. They scored 10 points against the Vikings and mighty Rams. They scored 20 points against the Seahawks, though both TD's came on very short drives followng turnovers. They were shoutout by the Packers. So, in there last 4 games they have shown no ability to move the ball. The last time they showed any type of offensive competence was in the first half against Chicago. That was a long time ago.

Edge: Browns.

Special teams:

The Lions have horrible kick and punt coverage units and no spark in the return game. Their special teams essentially cost them the game against Chicago. It was that bad. The only hope they have here is if Joshua Cribbs doesn't play.

Edge: Browns (if Cribbs plays) / Push (if he doesn't).

I think the Lions will win, but only because of homefield. It will likely be a very, very brutal game.

I think the Lions have more positives going forward (with the likes of Stafford and Calvin Johnson), but aren't quite there yet. If they lose against the Browns, however, it will really go a long way to show just how little this team has progressed from last season and how far they have to go to even be remote competitive.

The sad thing about all of this is that if I had to pick a second favorite NFL team, it'd be the Browns. My mom's family is all from/in Cleveland, so I've been following them pretty closely since the Brian Sipe days.

Question- if you are fan of either of these teams is there any benefit in winning?
From a Saints fan point of view- we've sucked a lot, and I know at some point it's better to lose and get the better draft spot and hope the owner sees all that is wrong and decides its time to right the ship.

This will be must see TV from my view.

Im currently in 7th place in my FF league, with the top 6 teams getting in.

My RB1 is Ronnie Brown, who is out this week. My backup RBs are backups F.Jones and F.Jackson.

The waiver wire runs tomorrow in reverse order of wins/losses, so Im 6th.
That means all the good fill in bRBs will be taken.

Im gonna end up picking up Jamal Lewis and starting him based on the Lions defense.

Yes.

Grabbing the Jammy.

FYI - The Browns have 2 rushing TDs this year, both by the same guy.
That person is available to pick up but his name is not Jamal Lewis.
Not picking up the guy with the two tds.
That would be Derek Anderson.

Would consider this a must win game with only 3 left til playoffs and Jammy is gonna save my fantasy football season. Word.

Yes. For a team that's wone one game in its last 40-something any win, even against a bad opponent, is a positive sign. Also, I'd rather not have the Lions have the first pick in the draft again. They're drafting in the top 5, no doubt, but anything to help them draft a little lower and, thus, take on a little less salary will help.

The whole "owner sees all that is wrong and decides its time to right the ship" sort of happened last year with the Lions when they finally FINALLY canned Millen and then canned Marinelli. So, losing wont have that effect at all on the Lions. They are in Year One of a new regime.

Has to more with timing than anything. Browns coming off a physical Monday Night game while the Lions played the Vikings tough on the road. Stafford is improving every week while Quinn is a disaster. Lions have a lot more talent that this Browns squad while the Browns only offensive threat wont be playing this week(Cribbs).

Browns seem to be playing for a lame duck coach whom they dislike while Detroit seems to have motivation for finishing this season strong.

Team Speed is the biggest edge the Lions have and on turf that becomes of more importance.

Haha. I dont see the Lions holding anyone to 3 points even the crappy Browns. CJ will get deep a couple times on the Browns secondary. Im thinking 27-10 Lions.

The Lions were involved in the last scoreless tie in the NFL, against the Giants in 1943.

Great, Bowe suspended for four games now? With Benson injured and DeAngelo for some reason giving TDs to Stewart (who I dropped earlier in the year for bye week replacements), one of my fantasy seasons might have just ended.

You obviously haven't watched too many Lions games. To say that the Lions "have a lot more talent than this Browns squad" is quite the leap.

I hope you're right that the Lions win, but remember the Browns at least won a game on the road this year (albeit against the Bills and with their QB only completing 2 passes), while the Lions haven't even been competitive on the road this year. I would say "it should be interesting", but I know it wont be. It will be awful.

No I cant honestly say I watch a lot of Lions game unless they are playing the Vikings. I do think CJ, Stafford, Smith, and Pettigow are decent young players while other than Joe Thomas I cant think of anyone on the Browns offense Id even want.

Joe Thomas and Cribbs are about it. The Lions definitely have a brighter future (at the moment) on the offensive side of the ball.

Folks be hatin' on that Jammy/
Dont worry H_B, if it makes you feel any better my other FF RB is K.SMITH.

Bask in the glory that is the first scored TD by a running back in a Cleveland Browns uniform in the 2009 season.

BEHOLD.

JAMMY.

Be prepared for the epic thread bump when the Browns magic happens on Sunday. Wait, this isnt a MNF game?

Once again we will experience the rematch of the classic matchup that has decided the NFL champion many times. Ahh, when Bobby Layne (or Tobin Rote) went head to head with Otto Graham.

Stupid owners and waiver wire ruining mah Jammy.

Unexpectedly, I ended up getting J.Snelling instead. Wanted the Forsett, thought I was getting the Jammy, alas its neither.

Now..... thinking about picking up and starting the Browns defense.....

OK, so we know that Detroit fans believe they can beat the Browns.

We know that Buffalo fans finally have their Super Bowl victory to celebrate as Dick gets fired mid season.....

How about the rest of the games this week?

I Predict:
That even with the rejoicing, the Bills lose miserably to Jax in Florida.

Pittsburgh could well lose against Kansas City. Still a rough place to play, the chiefs have a chip on their shoulder after the fallout from LJ moving on. Polomalu is out again. This could be the upset of the week.

Indy pretty much ends Baltimore's playoff hopes in Baltimore to go 10-0

Dallas Loses, AT HOME, to a Redskins team that is showing signs of growth.

San Diego follows the Steelers lead and humiliates the Broncos in Denver.

New Orleans hangs another 40 on the hapless Bucs.

Heard Jamarcus is looking good in preseason, not so much in regular season tho.

And the "throwing OOB" comment in that pic might have been challenged by Brady Quinn on Monday.

I'm 5th in a 12-team league where 4 get in despite being 1st in total points by a pretty wide margin. All 4 of my losses by 5 points or less when I was 2nd or 3rd in scoring that week. This week I had even given up because I was down almost 60 going into Sunday night with only Addai, Gostkowski and Ravens D left. Ended up losing by 2 because either a) Belichick/Pats D didn't roll over and instead tackled Addai twice at the 1 in the last minute or b) the Browns couldn't be bothered to turn it over one more time. I was watching the last 10 minutes for the miracle cover, but no, there's the Browns going 3 and out and punting, there's Brady Quinn almost literally throwing his hail mary's into the stands when a pick for BAL would win it, and then the coup de grace, they get tackled on the end of game lateralrooski instead of fumbling like they should have. I hate head to head

I'm in 7th with 6 getting in and just had Ronnie Brown go down. So I will be starting the glorious combination of Forte and K. Smith this weekend. Here's hoping the Browns open up some holes for him.

Sorry, dude. It looks like you'll have to wait a little bit longer. No Jamarcus for you next Sunday. Gradowski is your starter.
