Is there an Industrial Engineer in the house? (work related)
Yeah, hell of a thread title, ain't it?
An old client of ours has resurfaced with a new job and he's asked us to find one of the tougher needles in a haystack I've had to look up, mostly tough I think because I'm way out of a field I know jack about ... so I'm turning to FOFC to see if I get lucky. My task: Find trade journals that target people in fields such as Industrial Engineering, Healthcare Engineering, Ergonomics, and specialists in Lean and Six Sigma. Purpose: Need publications/websites/vehicles to reach those people in order to market conferences to them As narrow as those niches might be, here's the real kicker: The primary target for 2 of the 3 conferences are people in those fields IN MEXICO !!! (Not that there's anything wrong with that ) Seriously though, it's hard enough to find trade journals with advertising opportunities for those niches as it is but those with a heavy distribution / emphasis in Mexico? The main clearing house for trade pubs info in the US found us 39 publications that fit the general parameters but zero with Mexico and/or Central America focus. My reason for posting here is the faint hope that: a) we've got a few people in the field(s) b) they're regular professional/trade journal readers c) that one or more of the magazines and/or websites they frequent has made an impression on them by having at least an international flair and would make a good target for me to investigate further. Yeah, it's a reach but it's a chance to at least make a few bucks & those are very popular with me right now. And I'm reaching the point of being stumped so I figured I couldn't be any worse off to at least ask around here, maybe I'll hit the jackpot.

I'm in the field but can't help much with the Mexico thing. You may want to look at www.mmsonline.com its pretty popular. Lots of advertising.

Thanks Owl, any & all ideas are pretty welcome at this point. So far, we've found only two relatively live possibilities ourselves.

Are you trying to reach say Healthcare Facility Engineers themselves, or say people who would call on them?
IOW are the conferences for HCFEs to attend or demo at? |

We're advertising to attract attendees, not exhibitors. So this is for actual engineer types, et al. Best I can figure they're just looking for live registration fee paying bodies.

Jon,
Dont know if this helps at all, but I'll throw it out there. One of my business lines is nurse call and med gas monitoring equipment, so I am often marketing to these same types. Now I work exclusively in the Carolinas so that is where my knowledge ends, but both states have a hospital engineer association, and each association has 2 trade shows each year. Neither publish a magazine, but I just contacted the HEA when i wanted to exhibit and they bring all their members. If a similar association exists, it may be beneficial? |

Just shooting in the dark, as I don't know much about the field, but I wonder if the American Society of Healthcare Engineers (www.ashe.org) might be able to point you in the right direction.
Also, here's a list of engineering associations if it helps. http://www.progressiveengineer.com/r...s/res-eng.html |

Thank dolfin & CU Tiger. I found ashe.org yesterday after posting this (IIRC), the other sites I don't recall seeing until now.

Yeah, "Lordy" just about covers it I think. It's like trying to find small gauge needles in a rather large haystack. So far I think we've found 4 or 5 decent prospects domestic, nothing worth talking about international.
