With the arrival of free agency comes the opportunity for each club across FOOL-X to propel themselves into the playoffs simply by making a few shrewd, well-calculated signings. General managers have to choose wisely where to spend their dollars. An expensive signing could be the key to a playoff spot or it could handcuff a franchise for years to come.

This year's key free agents include:

1. Ed Danton, 37 year-old catcher
2. Héctor Guevara, 35 year-old right fielder
3. Bartolo Liriano, 38 year-old right fielder
4. Werner Tupper, 39 year-old center fielder
5. Pedro Sánchez, 33 year-old starting pitcher
6. Dave St.john, 34 year-old center fielder
7. Alfredo Chávez, 24 year-old right fielder
8. James Clifton, 32 year-old left fielder
