I don't get it ... is it because they think the ad is too sexy, or because she's not a stick figure?

Normal, as in size, maybe I should have used "average sized (except for the breasts)". |

That's the thing, it's not any more sexy than a Victoria's Secret ad. |

Paging Jon. Paging Jon. Could it be the rating of the shows they were trying to put it on? I skip commercial for the most part, but does VS run commercials during those two shows?

FWIW, while VS ads show a similar amount of... modeling of the lingerie, I don't recall one that essentially ended with the model going out to meet her husband/boyfriend/whomever wearing just that and a trenchcoat. *shrug*

If the sound was off, I'd think that ad was for Ashley Madison rather than clothing.

Yeah, maybe I'm not jaded enough yet, but I don't think the networks were avoiding the commercials because of the models' size. I mean, I remember a few years ago when NBC (I think) pulled a Pepsi ad to be shown during the World Series because it showed a black man pretending to get oral sex from a fisherman. I didn't think the ad was anti-fisherman. I just knew that NBC was filled with racists.

a quick search for 'lane bryant model porn' brings up some, uh, less than desirable results.

Oh they most definitely run commercials in them, some of the most expensive commercial real estate on television these days. ABC looks pretty bad on this deal at the moment, at least with what I've seen so far today. LB said "they refused our ads", ABC says "no we didn't, they're just looking for cheap publicity" ... and Lane Bryant released the memos from ABC that showed the specific refusal to accept the ads in timeslots including " Extreme Makeover, Home Edition and Wipeout, Animated Wonderful World of Disney, Wonderful World of Disney, Dancing With the Stars, America's Funniest Videos, Game Shows." You can see the entire memo at this link Some of those kind of make sense, the network saying we aren't taking lingerie ads in "family programming" shows. Problem is they've accepted Victoria's Secret ads in some of the same shows & in earlier time slots. They also went so far as to demand that the word "hell" be removed from the copy line "One hell of a good time". Pretty hypocritical considering the some of the content on ABC (or any network). For that matter, they've got Pamela Anderson on DWTS for cryin out loud. I'm not much on the whole boo-hoo about content but truth is, I believe Lane Bryant is pretty close to on the mark when they say basically this had little to do with anyone thinking of the children and nearly everything to do with some execs not being comfortable with women who don't look like porn starlets being shown in their unmentionables.
