May 1st: Free Comic Book Day at Heavy Ink

just got this email and I thought I'd share it with my FOFC brethren:

Quote:
Free Comic Book Day is this Saturday, May 1st. This year we're going to
try something crazy: we're going to give away thousands of comics
on-line, at our website:

Free Comic Book Day at Heavy Ink

The festivities start at 10 AM EST, and we'll be giving away a different
title every 10-15 minutes. There are around 30 different titles, so
we'll be giving away comics for most of the day. Iron Man, Stuff of
Legend, Atomic Robo, Mouse Guard, Green Hornet...

Please tell your comic-loving friends! Forward this email, or share in
forums or on blogs. Thanks for helping get the word out!

The details:

* Free Comic Book Day at HeavyInk.com/fcbd begins on Saturday May 1st at
10 AM EST (9 AM Central, 8 AM Mountain, 7 AM PST).

* First come first serve, maximum of 3 comics per person.

* The comics are free, and if you're a regular customer they'll ship
with your next shipment at no extra charge. If we ship them separately
we'll charge only $2.99 for first class shipping. If you happen pick
up a graphic novel or a few other comics while you're at the site
everything ships for just 99 cents!

* Comics ship starting on Wednesday, when we ship our regular weekly
subscription shipments.

Thanks!

The HeavyInk team
Travis, Pete, Andy, Caryn, and Dan

Heavy Ink has been my comic shop of choice for the last couple of years and the guys are great. They ship subscriptions once a week (or every 2, 3, 4 weeks if you want) for a fee of only 99 cents (to american addresses) as long as you have at least three comics to ship. You can also set your shipping preferences to ship only when you have three comics to ship. You can cancel any book up to the day it's supposed to ship and graphic novels won't cost you a dime more to ship than 99 cents. Priority shipping is also available for a $2.99 flat fee.

I've been with them for over two years now and they've served me great. They are very responsive to emails sent their way and will do just about anything to make their customers' experience in shopping for comics great. I highly recommend them.

For those who wouldn't know, Free Comic Book Day is a single day - the first Saturday in May each year - when participating comic book shops across North America and around the world give away comic books absolutely FREE to anyone who comes into their stores.

feel free to ask if you got any questions regarding Heavy Ink and how they handle your business.

oh, and I realize I forgot to mention that shipping to Canada isn't too costly either. It's a flat fee of only US$2.49 as long as you have three comics to ship, not one penny more. $3.49 if you have only 2 comics to ship and $4.49 if you only have one comic shipping. Again, you can set your preferences for them to ship only when you have three comics waiting for you.

I've had some really big boxes shipped to me and never paid more than the $2.49 flat fee for any of these shipment. Some of them included some heavy trade paperbacks too...
