The real idiot is the one who went on the field tonight. No wonder JD Drew went back into the draft.

But if anything, then they should of started tasering every fan on the field since 02. If they are trying to relate to that issue.

lol, no your not understanding what I am saying, but its ok. I don't think running on the field should = a tasering, but hell IF they are going to do it, and do it to protect people, they should either started back in 02 with the Gamboa incident , why start 8 years later? And also if they are going to taser one fan on the field, don't be choosy, taser them all, you can never tell when someone has a weapon. But like I said I don't think running onto the field should = a taser.

Although it doesn't happen often enough, occasionally we do get wiser with age & experience. Just because we've failed to exercise good judgment in the past should not mean that we're unable to do so at all times in the future.

I wonder what the tox screen on this douchebag kid will show. I'm guessing they can't release it anyways.

I'm trying to wrap my brain around the dad's reaction to his son calling him and asking if he should run out on the field. The guy said he basically told him he didn't think it would be a good idea! Really? If that was my kid, I would have threatened taking his car away or canceling whatever summer plans he had if he touched one blade of grass, then when he got home I would have slapped him upside the head for ever considering it.
Not too difficult to understand how this kid ended up in a heap in short centerfield...

I don't think anyone mentioned it, but Strasburg was called up to AAA yesterday. The speculation is that he will make 5-6 starts and play in the first home series after that. That would put him at roughly June 6 (which I have tickets for behind home plate -- hopefully it happens).
Also, a solid win by the Nationals last night. Livan Hernandez had another quality start (although a 41 pitch inning sent him to the bench a little early) and his ERA remains under 1 (0.99).

The Mets radio announcers were talking about the current of the Ohio River when one of them said, "and all that brown stuff ends up in Pittsburgh." The color guy then said, "If you sit in a rowboat, in eight hours you'll be in Pittsburgh."
No, not really guys.

Hey nice loss by the Tribe today. The Jays score three runs after the bases were empty with two outs and the Jays down to their last strike on THREE BATTERS IN A ROW. Luis Valbuena let a routine grounder go through his legs and then Lind hits a two run HR to give Toronto the lead and eventual win. Ugh.

Heh, I know Braves fans have gotten frustrated with Bobby Cox at times through the years but apparently there's a bakery in DC who has an employee that really doesn't like him. Hit the blog link to see the pictures

RIP Robin Roberts
I had the pleasure of meeting him several years ago. He was a very nice man and an even better ballplayer.

With their lineup, I can't say it'd be much of a surprise. It's compounded tonight by Escobar being on the DL (although he wasn't hitting for shit) and McCann being out of the lineup after whiffing 3 more times last night.

Yeah, third worst runs in per game among NL teams so far (second worst in slugging percentage too though they are above the median in OBP). I'm surprised how far they are ahead of Pittsburgh and Houston so far (ATL 4.15, PIT 3.44, HOU 2.85). I find watching the Braves' offense to be rather painful, I can't imagine how Astros fans feel. In addition to being dead last in the league in runs per game they are also dead last in AVG/OBP/SLG (.232/.275/.322). Their team OPS+ of 60 is astounding. |

Scott Olsen finally gives up a hit, David Ross hit a single with one out in the top of the eighth. Right as I was typing this Melky Cabrera immediately hit a ball I thought would turn into a double play but the normally great fielding Zimmerman threw the ball into right field. Rally time maybe.

It should always feel good, especially if the opponent is someone who is supposed to be good, like the Angels. Just word to the wise--you shouldn't take much from this series. The dugout across the way from the Sox the past four days contains 25 of the biggest sackless, pieces of shit to play baseball. I don't get mad at teams that lose for lack of talent. After all, what can they do? If they're not good enough, they're not good enough. I get mad when a team isn't playing right, and is playing stupid and without heart. The Angels are good enough and all have the resumes proving it. So the fact that they keep letting the first batter on every inning; that they turn into HS JC hitters with men in scoring position; that when their pitching staff allows 2-3 runs, they score 0-1, and when they score 6-8, their staff allows 11-17, that's the sign of a cowardly team that isn't sacking up and getting the job done. They're fearing failure right now, and if I were the manager and GM, the whole bunch wouldn't be on the plane to Seattle, they would be on the plane to Salt Lake--or home (their offseason home). Too bad they're not heading right back to Anaheim; if they were, I would be in the stands with a sign that reads "Keep cashing them checks, boys!" Naw, I'm not bitter. ![]()

Good Lord. It's REALLY difficult to be a Royals fan. Got down 8-0, rallied to take a 12-11 lead, then our excellent closer gives up back-to-back homeruns to lose it 13-12.
Ugh. |

You forgot to add that the HRs came with 2 outs.
I see the Royals called up The Kila Monster, and he got a hit so he's now batting 1.000. Take that, Jon! The disheartening thing for Royals fans has to be the fact that Pods, Kendall, Guillen, and Yuni are, frankly, hitting over their heads right now (and Butler, DeJesus, and Callaspo are solid), yet the team is still losing. What happens when the bottom eventually falls out for those 4? There's very little chance they'll hit this well even for the next 2 months, let alone all year.

Lots of KC fans were pretty excited about Kila getting in yesterday. Hopefully he gets some playing time. Never fear. We have our 0-3, 2.27 ERA Cy Young candidate going today. We've got this one in the bag (unless a reliefi pitcher comes in). |

I was at the game. Olsen has been incredible his last three starts, and you could feel it in the air. He got a great ovation after that first hit and when he was taken out of the game. Zimmerman is a fantastic fielder, but throwing errors are by far his biggest problem.

I'm really enjoying watching the Nationals. Their games seem to be played the way I really enjoy BB. Most are tight, fairly well played (usually well pitched) games that have a good pace to them. Nats have at least turned into a respectable team that is entertaining to watch unlike my *cough* Cubs *cough*. Dibble and Carpenter are even growing on me. Had to laugh last night...someone (obviously named John) was filling in for Carpenter and Dibs kept making remarks ending with "JOHNNY" i.e....that was a heck of a pitch eh JOHNNY. I think if I listen to Dibs more I will tire of him but for now, it is different.

Sure would be nice if he pans out. I don't know if the Cubs do any worse than other teams when it comes to prospects panning out. It "seems" like they fail quite often but maybe that is just because the Chicago market gets so much attention. I guess the Yankees have had their share of failures (usually after they are shipped elsewhere). Would be interesting to see if the Cubs success rate with minor leaguers is as bad as it seems or just more magnified. I'm at the point where I wouldn't mind seeing Lou step down. Not saying this is his fault at all but he just doesn't seem to have the same enthusiasm for the game that he used to. I know this bumble head way of playing ball must really grate on him. I remember what impressed me most in his first year was when he went to the mound late in an early season game and you could read his lips saying "throw fucking strikes" and went back to the dugout. Game was over with a Cubs win shortly after that. That's the Lou I was excited about. Now he just sits in the dugout and I think he is as perplexed as a typical fan. The Soriano/Zambrano contracts are the current anchors but there is nothing that can be done about that now (I imagine Big Z could be moved if he waives the no trade clause). Hopefully Castro, Vitters, Cashner and some other youngsters can step up and bridge the gap or the Cubs are in for a few years of bad baseball. No jokes please ![]() |

Jonathan Sanchez came into tonight not yet having given up a hit to a lefty this season, and Ike Davis hit two home runs in his first two at bats.
He's now 7 for 10 vs lefties early in his career. Not bad. |

Holy crap that was awesome. That guy looked drunk doing the Branyan swing over and over.
Beckett came unglued tonight. And the Braves are making Jamie Moyer look like he's 37 or something...

great debut for starlin castro tonight, had a three run HR in his first major league at bat and added a three run triple later, 2-4 with 6 RBIs (most ever by a player in their debut and also something like top-20 youngest to ever make their debut)
