To be or not to be- A Redhead

I am asking you to help settle a friendly debate! My man has attempted for years to convince me to go red as he is a firm believer that redheads are the hottest. I'm convinced that blonds really do have more fun. I'm nervous to even try being a redhead because should I not like it, as a natural blond (with a few artificial highlights here and there), it will be difficult to change back. As an avid poster on FOFC, he suggested that we ask you all to decide and comment.

So, I leave myself to the mercy of the FOFCers-what's hotter? A redhead or a blond? And should I go red? You decide!

If you're happy with the way your hair is, screw what your man wants.

I'm similar to your husband that, depending on the color red, I think it is the best. I've encouraged my wife to do the same. I say try it out.

Keep your blond, it looks great. This is coming from a lover of redheads, fyi, but your blond is nice and if its natural (mainly) don't screw it up for something that may not even work for you.

Methinks the blonde looks nice, and there's no guarentee that the red would look that good...I'd be really worried about changing natural for colored.

Tell him he needs to get a tattoo with your name in some visible spot before you'll dye your hair.

In all seriousness, the fact that you came here means you're at least willing to give it a try, so props. How about a sorta strawberry-blonde?

Thanks for all the responses so far! Hmmm-seems like his theory about redheads may be in question. I would not rule out a strawberry blond compromise...

Whatever your natural color is, that's the color you should go with. Just my opinion. It always looks better.

Having said that, if you're going with something unnatural like pink/blue/whatever, I can get down with that in the right kind of girl.

Well, you didn't ask "Are blondes or red heads hotter". You asked "should I die my hair red?"

The consensus here seems to be a preference for natural color.

Eh, different colors look best on different people afaic. Skin tone, complexion, eye color, etc. all factor into it I believe.

Based on that picture (granted, lighting & even clothes affect visualization on this) I'd say true red might be iffy, you could probably pull off strawberry blonde, but I don't see any reason to change what's already working fine for you.

My two cents.

If YOU feel like a change, go for it. I think you could carry different hair colors pretty easily. But really, you look good as is, so don't sweat it unless you really want to do it.

Eh, I'm not a fan of bottle red.

I've also always been a big believer in natural whatever looking better than bottle anything else.

But then, I'm also terminally single, so what do I know?

I'm married to a redhead who recently highlighted her hair blonde. I'd rather she hadn't (though it looks good either way), but I didn't have much say in the matter.

I think I'd go with Subby's advice too though.

Give it a try - it'll always grow out if you don't like it ...

(this comes from someone who used to dye his families hair red, white and blue during soccer tournaments so you might not want to listen to my advice in this regard ... I'm quite happily insane )
