I don't have much of a problem with Rachel being the Friend from Friends, but it is kind of lame when they allow multiple people later on (Scully/Mulder, Vincent/Jules, Beavis and Butthead, etc.). Friends was a pretty easily defined ensemble, so it is hard to put one ahead of the rest. If they are allowing multiples, they may as well just let all of them on or make it Ross and Rachel.
Or Homer and Bart, for that matter. |

Keep in mind that I have not season the newest season, I don't have Direct TV or whatever already showed it. But from the previous few seasons and the few I've seen of the new season I'd disagree. I think this season he seems deeper, and that's why I threw that qualifier in there. But previously I just thought he was stereotype. I would put Taylor and Saracen are two I'd easily pick ahead of him. To each his own I guess |

Not sure if he was in any of the old novels, but Qui-Gon Jinn is by far the most popular of the new wave of Star Wars Characters, IMO.

On the flip side, I have no ideas who Rachel is/was. Yes, I know she was a very popular character on a very popular show, but I did not watch it and have no idea what her character was like. I never watched Sex & The City either, but I can give you a summery of who Carrie Bradshaw was. Everyone else 10 for that matter... If you are going to call her the 6th greatest character of the last 20 years, she should have some cultural reach outside of the show.

obv 20 instead of 35 years because otherwise 90% of the list would be star wars characters

Randy "The Ram" Robinson deserves an honorable mention.
As does Roy Hobbs. And Crash...whatever his name is...from Bull Durham.

Hate the movie, but not sure how the main characters from Titanic can be left off considering it was the highest grossing film of all time for over a decade. Too many recent things are dominating the list.

I will never be able to hear the word "talons" without thinking of this movie.

That shouldn't matter. During the last 20 years, regardless of when he was created, Homer was a character. It doesn't matter if he was created long ago and only became popular in the last 20 years or even remained popular in the last 20 years. |

Hank Hill should be on that list somewhere. At least in the top 30 or so.

I'm surprised that jbmagic isn't on there. Some might say he was a great character created in the past 20 years.
Anyhow, it's just a list. |

This list would count the 1990's and 2000's. Vader's height of popularity and greatness was really back in the late 70's and into the 80's. If anything, this last decade has been very unkind to Lord Vader.
