Hot Yoga
I just finished my first session of Bikram yoga, 90 minutes in a humid 100 degree room.
Well, by "finished" I mean got through it. I was on my back trying not to pass out for the last half hour. Holy Mother Of God.

Yeah, never done this, but my friend's cousin swears by this stuff. She describes it a lot like you do, but she really likes it. That's just crazy.

Yoga in a normal temp is hard enough, I know people who love it to, but I am happy with a fan next to me.

I have never tried Bikram yoga. It sounds incredibly difficult with the heat. I started practicing Ashtanga yoga a little over a year ago. I really enjoy it, but, like BYU14 said, practicing it in normal temps is hard enough. I am completely drenched after about 45 minutes and that's with the room around 80 degrees or so.

The caliber of this thread has failed to live up to the hype of the title.

I started Ashtanga about five-six weeks ago and really like it, so when I saw a special deal for this I thought what the hell. Bikram is very different, I'd say almost calisthenic. There is a breathing exercise at the beginning and the end with 26 different poses in between, each done twice. (the first hour or so is standing poses, the last half hour are seated/lying down). The goal is that you get yourself so focused on what you're doing that the heat is secondary. And the instructor stressed that if anyone felt faint or lightheaded to stop and lay down. But man, the heat is just so damn oppressive. My first goal will be to get through the standing part, then an entire class. I'm afraid it's going to take a little while before I get that far.
