An 'Imperial' Renaissance? - The WWE Dynasty, Year One
Let's face it. For wrestling fans, the WWE seriously sucks right now. So, for your enjoyment (er...I hope), I have created a WWE dynasty through the use of Smackdown: Shut Your Mouth.
Now, while I will post my character going through the game's storylines, I will also add in my own stuff to spice up the dynasty as well. While I will *cough*attempt*cough* to write recaps of my characters matches (including the use of a star system), most of the matches will be unable to be viewed. I will, of course, post the results of all of the cards. As you can tell, I'm horrible with introductions, so I'll just get this started. Last edited by SuburbanPimp : 04-30-2003 at 09:28 PM. |

April 1st, 1990.
Toronto Skydome, filled with 67,678 fans. WrestleMania VI. The Ultimate Challenge. Hulk Hogan vs. The Ultimate Warrior, with both the World Wrestling Federation Championship and the Intercontinental Championship on the line. After Hulk Hogan missed with his “Atomic Legdrop of Never-ending Doom”, the Ultimate Warrior nailed the “Hulkster” with his “Death Splash of Mammoth & Deadly Proportions” to become both the new WWF Champion and remain the Intercontinental Champion. The entrances, the punches, the stalling, the kicks, the even more stalling, the weak rest holds, more stalling, the bodyslams, ENOUGH WITH THE STALLING, the pinfall, the celebration, the show of the respect after the match, the Ultimate Warrior raising both championships high into the air. It was never supposed to happen that way. Sean Ryder. Once a three-time All-American and NCAA Champion on the University of Texas wrestling team in the mid 1980s, he was nicknamed “The Emperor” due to his dominance over the collegiate wrestling world. Long before there were whispers of Kurt Angle or Brock Lesnar, Vince McMahon signed Ryder to a long-term contract. While McMahon thought that he had a legitimate athlete to shake up the midcard, the WWF fans thought rather differently. They were dazzled by Ryder’s vast array of suplexes, his high-powered technical offense making him a huge crowd favorite. It wasn’t long before McMahon took notice, and Ryder went from battling jobbers on “Superstars” to battling with the likes of “Macho Man” Randy Savage, “Mr. Perfect” Curt Henning & “Ravishing” Rick Rude. It was only a matter of time that the WWF Championship would be around Ryder’s waist, and backstage politicians (including Hogan) would not be able to stop it. After Hogan defeated Savage to become WWF Champion at WrestleMania V, Ryder was immediately penciled in to challenge and win the WWF Title from Hogan at WrestleMania VI. Then came the injury. During a match with Dino Bravo on a WWF house show in December of 1989, Ryder suffered an injury to his right knee. The required surgery would put him out for over six months, destroying any chance of the “Emperor” wrestling at WrestleMania VI. When he returned in the fall of 1990, Ryder was placed in non-televised matches to work off his ring rust. He would suffer another setback, as he re-aggravated the injury. Once he returned, Ryder thought that the third time would be the charm. He wrestled once again in non-televised matches only, but Ryder did not look like the “Emperor” of old. The speedy, exciting technician was replaced by an unmotivated slug, paranoid as to when his knee would give out again. With the WWF increasingly losing money with a horrible Sgt. Slaughter/Hulk Hogan, Ryder was released in a cost-cutting maneuver. When Ryder called up Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling, he was told that he would receive a call from them to set up a tryout. The call never came. After five long years of scraping by on independent shows throughout the country, Ryder made the jump to Japan in 1996. As it appeared that McMahon’s WWF would crumble in due time, a rejuvenated Ryder was quickly working his way up the ladder overseas, much like his early years in the business. As WCW destroyed WWF with the New World Order and their collection of Vince’s former projects, Ryder saw a glimmer in his hopes of returning to a North American promotion. Despite his recaptured focus and his superb technical arsenal, Ryder was still viewed by the “big two” as too much of a risk. Fast forward to 2002. With an expanded roster due to the purchase of WCW last year, the newly renamed World Wrestling Entertainment has decided to do a “brand extension”, with two separated rosters designated to Raw and Smackdown. Although the WWE has one of the largest and most talented rosters in wrestling history, talent scouts have been informed to find some of the best talent on both the independent circuit and overseas. WWE talent scout Bruce Pritchard jumped at the chance to fly to Japan, where he was able to sign Sean Ryder to a six-month contract. The “Emperor” has returned to the WWE, but will he be able to survive the high-paced, “sports entertainment” style of wrestling that the WWE is known for? Will he be able to compete with today’s charismatic WWE superstars? As the old saying goes, only time will tell. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ COMING UP: The WWE talent draft! Where will the “Emperor” end up? |

Hehe, brings back memories of an old dynasty I did two years ago with Extreme Warfare 9000. Haven't really followed wrestling for about that long though. Be interesting to see how this turns up, good luck.

WWE RAW: April 1st, 2002
[RAW Opening, followed by shots of the excited crowd.] Jim Ross (JR): WE ARE TWO WEEKS REMOVED FROM THE GREATEST WRESTLEMANIA OF ALL TIME!! TONIGHT, WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT WILL HOST THE FIRST TALENT DRAFT IN SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT HISTORY! Jerry Lawler (King): Christ JR, calm down! Take your Ritalin! JR: I’m too excited for this one, King! At WrestleMania, Ric Flair defeated Vince McMahon to win the rights to RAW! Then last week, WWE CEO Linda McMahon made the blockbuster announcement, a draft with the best talent in sports entertainment today! Tonight, the fifty percent partners of the WWE take their first steps toward making their respective program the best, as they each make their first ten picks tonight on RAW! Then, following the show, our website will air the talent lottery, as the rest of the WWE superstars are selected to either RAW or Smackdown! King: Oh come on Ross, this is unfair! Mr. McMahon is the creator of sports entertainment, the mastermind behind all of this! There’s no doubt that Smackdown will be the premiere show of the WWE! JR: Well, I wouldn’t count Ric Flair out. If there’s anyone that knows about entertainment, it’s the “Nature Boy”, the thirteen-time Heavyweight Champion of the World! He has ruled this business like no other inside the ring, and I’m sure he can do it outside the ring as well! [Suddenly, “No Chance In Hell” cues up, drawing boos from the sold out crowd.] King: Mr. McMahon is here! [Indeed, the chairman of the WWE has stepped out from the curtain. Dressed in an expensive business suit (as always), McMahon looks at the booing fans with a look of disgust. This is not what he wanted. He wanted to rule his own monopoly with 100% power. Instead, he not only must make the right moves to keep his Thursday night program afloat, but destroy Ric Flair at the same time.] JR: It looks like we’re not going to waste any more time, as Mr. McMahon has arrived to the podium. In a simple flip of the coin earlier today, Mr. McMahon won the right to make the first pick of this draft! His choices are endless! King: Quiet JR, he’s gonna make the pick! [As Mr. McMahon leans toward the microphone, he is stopped by the fans, who begin the chant of “ASSHOLE!”. This only agitates McMahon, until he hits his breaking point, which he unleashes his anger with his over exaggerated “demonic” voice. For the non-wrestling fans, you may have heard this when he announced “WELLLCOME TO THE X-F-L!!!”.] Vince McMahon: SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!!!! [“BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” “ASSHOLE! ASSHOLE! ASSHOLE!”] Vince: DON’T YOU TEST ME!! I CREATED ALL OF THIS, AND BY GOD, I CAN SHUT IT ALL DOWN, DAMNIT!! King: This is not right, Mr. McMahon does not deserve this! These people should show him some respect! [When the hot crowd starts to simmer after a few moments, Vince begins.] Vince: Ladies and gentlemen, with the first pick of this historic draft, I have decided to plan for the future. This man has already defeated some of the biggest names in this industry, and he’s only in his early twenties. This man…this beast, is sure to be one of the greatest, most dominant WWE champions that this company has ever seen. Ladies and gentlemen, the first pick in the WWE draft, and the first pick for Smackdown is none other than… [Vince pauses for dramatic effect. Here comes that “demonic” voice again.] Vince: BROCK LESNAR!!! King: WOW! JR: That is a huge pick! Mr. McMahon has dropped a bombshell, as he has decided to go with the man regarded as the “Next Big Thing”, Brock Lesnar! [“Sprach Zarathustra aka 2001 Space Odyssey” cues up, which ignites the crowd into a swarm of cheers. Out comes Ric Flair, who is sporting a smile on his face.] Flair: WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! [The fans respond with a “WOOOO!” in return. Flair steps up to the podium.] Flair: Vince, Vince, Vince. Through the over twenty years that you have been running this company, you of all people should know that there is no time like the present! JR: He’s got a point, King! King: What is this senile old bat getting at? Flair: And that is why…with RAW’s first pick in the draft, I select… [Flair also pauses for dramatic effect.] Flair: THE ROCK! [The crowd erupts in cheers.] JR: OH MY GOD! THAT IS HUGE! [Instantly, Vince has a look of complete shock on his face. His second franchise creation in the “Attitude” era, now in the hands of one of his worst enemies? Shock soon turns to anger, as Vince shoves Flair out of his way, fighting to get the podium mic.] Vince: OH YEAH! WELL, HOW DO YOU LIKE THIS FLAIR?! WITH SMACKDOWN’S SECOND PICK, I SELECT…ROB VAN DAM! [Flair’s reaction is the exact opposite of McMahon’s, flashing a cool smile.] Flair: That’s a good pick, Vince. However, I don’t think it’s as good as RAW’s second pick, which is none other than…CHRIS JERICHO! [After Vince runs his hand over his face in frustration, he begins to laugh.] JR: What the hell is this? I don’t think losing Jericho to Ric Flair is a laughing matter! Vince: That’s okay, because I have the coup of this draft! JR: What? King: A coup, JR! That’s Mr. McMahon, always thinking! [As Vince’s grin grows, Flair backs up from the podium.] Vince: My third pick is someone that was right under your nose. He’s a man that not only can beat the Rock, but he has beat the Rock! Ladies and gentlemen, the COUP OF THIS DRAFT, AND THE THIRD PICK OF SMACKDOWN, IS NONE OTHER THAN… [The crowd, the announcers, and Flair all wait in anticipation.] Vince: OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST, KURT ANGLE!! King: HAHAHA! There’s no way that Flair can top that, JR! JR: You might be right, King, but the “Nature Boy” is damn sure gonna try! [As Flair moves to the podium, he is applauding Vince, who has a smug look on his face.] Flair: Very impressive, Vince. You’re right, you stole Kurt Angle from right under my nose. But, I feel that my third pick for RAW is a good one, because he is…BOOKER T! [The crowd gives a big baby face reaction for Booker T.] JR: Flair has just picked up the five-time WCW Champion! King, this is not over, and yet I feel that business is just about to pick up! King: I think you’re right JR! JR: Ladies and gentlemen, this draft is not over yet! We’ll be right back! |

[As we come back from commercial, we cut to a shot of Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler, who are seated at their announce table at ringside.]
King: I know that this is a great draft tonight, but I have to pose one question. Why is “Stone Cold” Steve Austin not being drafted? JR: Well, earlier this week, WWE CEO Linda McMahon posted the provisions to this draft on the website. She has stated that “Stone Cold” Steve Austin is a free agent exemption, and cannot be drafted by Ric Flair or Mr. McMahon this evening. Also, this draft is limited to active wrestlers at this time, so injured stars cannot be drafted this evening. King: Of course, that means that Triple H will be a huge free agent when he returns! JR: You got that right, King. Also, the Undisputed WWE Champion cannot be drafted tonight, and that man is none other than “Big Evil” himself, the Undertaker! I just got word that during the commercial break, the Undisputed WWE Champion had an impromptu meeting with none other than the Chairman himself! [When we cut to the backstage area, we come upon the unmistakable giant, the Undertaker. As he relaxes in his personal locker room, he is busy shining his Undisputed WWE Championship belt. The shine in his eyes from the gold brings a smile on his face, a smile that can only be described as demented. He is soon interrupted by the locker room door opening, and the sight of Vince McMahon causes Taker to get up from his chair.] Vince: I come in peace. [“Big Evil” snickers. Yeah right.] Vince: I wanted to come by and thank you for what you’ve done. You not only beat “Stone Cold” to win the title at WrestleMania, and you ran him out of the WWE. But, that’s not all I want to thank you for. [The Undertaker raises an eyebrow.] Taker: Oh really? Vince: Really. I want to thank you…for your loyalty. [The WWE Champion is now running his right hand over his goatee in interest.] Vince: To be honest, there was a time when I thought the WWE wouldn’t make it. While all of those turncoats were ditching us and running to WCW country, you always stayed here, not afraid to carry the WWE banner. Ted Turner and Eric Bischoff wanted you, but when it came to signing that contract, it was my hand that you shook. From the “Phenom” to the “American Badass”, from the “Dead Man” to “Big Evil”, you weathered the storm. I will never be able to thank you enough for that. [Vince extends his hand, but the Undertaker does not budge. Vince pulls his hand back, then continues.] Vince: Look, I realize that you can be the Undisputed Champion for as long as you want to be. I know that you are the toughest man in this business, the unstoppable force in the WWE. You have defeated Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H, Kurt Angle, Hulk Hogan, Sid Vicious, Kevin Nash, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Mick Foley…the list goes on and on. But… Taker: But? Vince: If there was that minute chance that you should lose that title, I know that Ric Flair will be knocking on your locker room door right after the match. You’re one of the biggest free agents in this business, and it would be a crushing blow if I lost my most loyal employee to…to a no good, WCW loser. [As he goes on, Vince becomes more passionate by the minute.] Vince: Listen, if Ric Flair sunk his claws into you, he would take that “Decade of Destruction”, and he would throw it away. He would take my creation…our creation, and would destroy it. [It is here that the Undertaker interrupts his boss of over 12 years.] Taker: Ah, so that’s it, isn’t it? He would destroy “your” creation, and we can’t have that. Let me tell you something. I’ve known you longer than Austin, Rock, Hunter…and all of the guys in the back. I know that if I’m not rolling in the bucks for you, and if I’m not doing what you ask, you won’t hesitate to stab me in the back. There is no such thing as loyalty with you, McMahon. So, if by some unbelievable chance that I end up losing this WWE Championship, there’s only one thing that I have to say to you and Flair. [As Taker moves closer to McMahon, the fear in Vince’s eyes is undeniable.] Taker: May the best man win. [Vince gulps in a moment of tension.] Taker: I think you can find your way out of here. [And with that, McMahon walks out of the locker room, and the Undertaker returns to his Undisputed WWE Championship belt. We then cut back to ringside.] King: Wow! JR: Indeed, it looks like the Undertaker will be a free agent. The only question is…when? King: I don’t think it’s going to be for a while, JR! [Once again, “No Chance In Hell” cues up again, and out comes Vince McMahon. The crowd greets him with their favorite chant, but Vince is ignoring it at this point.] Vince: With Smackdown’s fourth pick in the WWE draft, I select a former WWE Champion…KANE! JR: Wow! If Vince can’t have the Undertaker, he’ll go for his brother, the “Big Red Machine”! [As if this was a replay from the last segment, “Sprach Zarathustra aka 2001 Space Odyssey” cues up again, and out comes Ric Flair. Once again sporting the trademark “Nature Boy” smile, he calmly walks up to the podium.] Flair: Vince, I think it’s safe to say that I have a coup of my own… JR: Uh oh… King: No way Flair! Flair: Because right from under your nose comes RAW’s fourth pick…CHRIS BENOIT! [Needless to say, Vince is pissed. He even shouts a few expletives that are caught by the microphone, which are quickly censored out. After a couple seconds of pacing, Vince steps up to the podium.] Vince: Well then…Smackdown’s fifth pick is…um…LANCE STORM! [Although the crowd is not silent, there’s not much but chatter.] King: Whoa! JR: Vince has shocked us again, this time taking one-half of the WWE Tag Team Champions, while there are some quality singles wrestlers still on the board! King: Oh, I have all the faith in Mr. McMahon. He knows exactly what he is doing! JR: And what is that? King: Well…I think he’s trying to get all of the other WWE titles in the Smackdown camp! JR: Wow, that is a rather astute observation. King: Thank you! JR: That marks your one for the year, doesn’t it? King: Shut up! [Ric Flair, chuckling, approaches the podium.] Flair: Nice pick Vince! But…WOOOOOOOOOOOO!! I’ve got a great one! RAW’s fifth pick is one of the future superstars of this business…EDGE!! [Vince, now seriously pissed seeing one of his future stars go to Flair, pushes Flair out of the way.] Vince: SHUT UP FLAIR! YOU JUST SHUT YOUR MOUTH! LET’S SEE IF YOU CAN BEAT THIS, YOU SON OF A BITCH! King: WHOA! This is getting out of hand! [After Vince takes off his coat, he throws it down on the metal ramp in frustration.] JR: IT LOOKS LIKE WE’RE ABOUT TO HAVE A SLOBBERKNOCKER, RIGHT HERE AT THE FIRST WWE DRAFT! Vince: YOU CAN’T TOP THIS, FLAIR! SEVEN FEET, FIVE-HUNDRED POUNDS! I’M TALKING ABOUT NONE OTHER THAN…THE BIG SHOW! Flair: Whoa there Vince, it’s such a pity when you’re angry! King: Deck him, Vince! Flair: Well, it’s no secret that I’m known worldwide as the “Dirtiest Player in the Game”. But, I think this man, RAW’s sixth pick, is the closest to come to that moniker in a long time. He’s a man who lies, cheats, and steals his way to victory…EDDIE GUERRERO! [Vince doesn’t even bother to gloss over his next pick.] Vince: SEVENTH PICK…WWE EUROPEAN CHAMPION…WILLIAM REGAL! Flair: RAW’s seventh pick, the phenomenal daredevil…JEFF HARDY! [As Vince pushes up against Flair, they are literally nose-to-nose.] Vince: SMACKDOWN’S EIGHTH PICK…GOLDUST! Flair: DON’T MESS WITH ME VINCE! EIGHTH PICK…RHYNO! [Just as it’s about to come to blows, a number of WWE officials come out from the back, separating the two owners.] JR: IT’S ABOUT TO EXPLODE HERE, AND WE’LL BE RIGHT BACK! [Cut to commercial.] Last edited by SuburbanPimp : 04-29-2003 at 02:11 AM. |

[Back from commercial, wide shot of the sold out arena, who are excited for the last few picks of the WWE draft.]
JR: Welcome back! As we took the commercial break, a number of our WWE referees and backstage crew had to separate Vince McMahon and Ric Flair apart. King: Quiet JR! Vince is coming up with his next pick! [As Vince steps up to the podium, he can’t help but look over his shoulder at Flair, who can deck him at any time.] Vince: For Smackdown’s ninth pick in this WWE draft, I am selecting a former multi-time WWE Tag Team Champion, and the current Hardcore Champion…BRADSHAW! [The crowd gives a positive response for McMahon’s selection. As McMahon backs away from the podium, Flair steps up.] JR: This is rather odd, seeing these two be gentlemanly with one another. King: Yeah, and it’s odd because Flair is trying to get Mr. McMahon into some sort of street fight. JR: I find that hard to believe. Flair has kept his cool for the most part. King: Whatever. JR: Whatever? Flair: With RAW’s ninth pick in the draft, I select a former ECW Champion and former WWE Hardcore Champion…RAVEN! King: Raven? JR: Well, it looks like Flair is looking for the “diamond in the rough” as well. [The two men switch positions again, with Vince now taking to the podium.] Vince: For Smackdown’s final pick, I have decided to go with my ideals from my first pick. Once again, I am looking towards the future. So, I am happy to announce that my final pick is…CHUCK PALUMBO! JR: Hmm…I figured that Vince might go the title belt route, and pick up Christian to complete the Tag Team Championship! King: You are so predictable, Ross, and “predictable” is one word that is not in Mr. McMahon’s vocabulary! [As Flair steps up to the podium, the crowd gives him an enthusiastic response, hoping that he makes yet another good pick.] Flair: For my final pick, I wanted to go with what many would deem a “surprise pick”. But, when you look at the career that this man has had, I think that this is not a surprise pick at all. He won every title in World Championship Wrestling, with the exception of the Cruiserweight Championship. He is a former multi-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion. In the WWE, he has won both the Tag Team Championship, and the European Championship. Ladies and gentlemen, the final pick for RAW is none other than… [As Flair pauses, Vince ponders whom the “Nature Boy” is referring to.] Flair: “DIAMOND” DALLAS PAGE! King: What is he thinking?! That motivational nutcase?! JR: Hey, that “motivational nutcase” has done a lot in this business, and I think he’s a steal for Ric Flair! [At this point, both men are now at the podium. It is unbelievable that they have not come to blows at this point.] Vince: Well Ric, I must say…this has been a historical night. Ric: You said it, Vince. Vince: I want to apologize for my earlier outbursts. They were completely out of line. [Vince extends an open hand to Flair.] Vince: May the best man win. [After some moments of hesitation, Flair accepts the handshake.] JR: Wow, a lot of class on the part of Vince McMahon! King: But of course! Vincent Kennedy McMahon is nothing but class! [After the two men end the handshake, Ric turns to leave. As Flair has his back to McMahon, the chairman digs into his pants pocket.] Vince: Oh…Ric? [As Flair turns around, Vince nails him with a right hand, the hand that was in his pants pocket. The shot sends Flair down onto the metal stage.] JR: WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?! [McMahon soon gets on top of Flair, hitting Flair in the head with a number of punches with the right hand. A cut is open on Flair’s forehead, and blood soon starts to come out of the cut.] King: WHAT A GENIUS! JR: McMAHON JUST NAILED FLAIR WITH BRASS KNUCKLES! FLAIR HAS BEEN BUSTED OPEN, AND McMAHON IS NOT LETTING UP! [As McMahon continues, the crowd begins to throw cups and assorted objects towards the stage. They do not come close, however, as McMahon continues. That is until…] Voice: ALL HAIL “THE EMPEROR”!! King: “The Emperor”? [Out of nowhere, Sean Ryder appears on the stage. While the majority of the fans do not know who he is, the few diehard wrestling fans in the audience are going insane with excitement.] JR: OH MY GOD!! OH MY GOD!! THAT’S SEAN RYDER!! I HAVEN’T SEEN HIM IN OVER TEN YEARS!! [When Vince bothers to look up, his face goes pale, and the trademark “McMahon Look of Shock” comes over his face.] JR: IT’S AS IF VINCE IS LOOKING AT A GHOST! [As Ryder begins to yell at Vince, McMahon quickly gets off of Flair. Not realizing at the moment, McMahon is backpedaling towards the edge of the stage.] JR: HE WAS FIRED BY VINCE OVER TEN YEARS AGO! RYDER IS BACK, AND IS GONNA GIVE IT TO THIS SON OF A BITCH!! [When Vince finally realizes that he’s at the edge, he is quickly doubled over by a kick to the stomach by Ryder. Ryder then wraps his muscular arms around McMahon’s waist, then tosses Vince over his head as Ryder falls back. Vince lands on the metal stage with a loud thud.] JR: BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX ON THE METAL STAGE! VINCE IS CRYING OUT IN PAIN, AND THERE’S NO ONE TO SAVE HIM NOW! [As Ryder kneels down by Vince’s side, he pulls out a roll of paper, then sticks it in Vince’s shirt pocket. What Ryder says can be heard through one of the cameras.] Ryder: “THE EMPEROR” IS BACK, AND IT’S TIME FOR SOME REVENGE!! [As Ryder walks off stage, Jim Ross is going nuts.] JR: SEAN RYDER IS BACK IN THE WWE AFTER TEN YEARS! RAW AND SMACKDOWN HAVE DRAFTED TEN SUPERSTARS! THE LOTTERY IS COMING UP ON OUR WEBSITE! THE WWE WILL NEVER BE THE SAME!! [Fade to black.] |

Many thanks for the early positive feedback! I hope it is as fun of a read as it is to write it.
Ronnie, you haven't missed a whole lot in the last two years. Hogan is back, running around in his red and yellow undies. Brock Lesnar has become the "breakout new star" that has been pushed too far too fast, leaving him as an undeveloped champion. But, best of all is that in two years, Kurt Angle has developed into the best wrestler in North America (yeah, slightly ahead of Benoit). The Angle/Benoit matches in the last 8-9 months are the closest to the Flair/Steamboat classics of the late 80's that we may ever see. So, there is some hope. I dunno if I could right the sinking ship, Berto, but hopefully I can write something interesting with all of this talent to work with. Thankfully, Goldberg & Scott Steiner aren't in the game to stink up the joint. |

Sunday Night Heat: April 7th, 2002
[WWE Signature starts us off. Then, black screen. Fade in white lettering.] Last Thursday. Smackdown. [We then cut to footage that was pulled from Smackdown, where Chairman Vince McMahon was addressing the audience from the entrance ramp. The notable difference is that McMahon is sitting in a wheelchair.] Vince: Last Monday on RAW…I, Vince McMahon, have never been assaulted in that manner! [A clip from RAW is cued up, as Sean Ryder comes out from the curtain, much to the shock of an angry Vince McMahon. We cut back to Smackdown.] Vince: My back…my back has been in constant pain since that night! That thud from the landing…the landing on cold steel, haunts me every night in my sleep! [Another clip from RAW, as Ryder releases Vince over his head. Almost a week later, the landing is still sickening.] Vince: SEAN RYDER, BECAUSE OF YOU, I AM TEMPORARILY UNABLE TO WALK! [RAW clip of Vince screaming in pain. We then go back to Smackdown.] Vince: VINCENT KENNEDY McMAHON WILL WALK AGAIN, BUT THIS SHALL NOT GO UNPUNISHED! [Another clip, from RAW, yet unaired. As Vince is being placed onto a stretcher by local EMTs, Ryder is seen laughing. To some, it looks rather creepy.] Vince: As luck would have it, the lottery placed you on the Smackdown roster. Ryder, that means you are under MY JURISDICTION! [A brief smile comes across the face of the Chairman.] Vince: As of now, you are hereby BANNED from appearing on Smackdown! [The next voice we hear is from Smackdown announcer, Michael Cole.] Cole: WHAT?! RYDER HAS BEEN BANNED FROM SMACKDOWN! [The other voice is from Smackdown color commentator/RAW wrestler, Tazz.] Tazz: Just another example of why you should not mess with Vince McMahon! [Vince’s last words are chilling.] Vince: Sean Ryder, I’m not going to welcome you back to the WWE. SEAN RYDER…WELCOME TO HELL!! [Fade to black. End clip.] [Cue Heat opening, followed by pyro, shots of the crowd. Cue Heat announcer, Jonathan Coachman (aka – “The Coach”).] Coach: Welcome everyone to Sunday Night Heat! I’m Jonathan Coachman, once again joined by former WCW great, Ernest “The Cat” Miller! The Cat: That’s three-time karate champion, Ernest “The Cat” Miller! I’m so great, I oughta smack yo’ mama! Coach: Well “Cat”, shortly after his shocking announcement on Smackdown, Vince McMahon has ordered Sean Ryder to appear only on Sunday Night Heat, the WWE’s show for our “developmental” talent! Ryder will compete in his first WWE match tonight, taking on blue chipper Randy Orton! The Cat: Randy Orton is a second generation wrestler, son of the great “Cowboy” Bob Orton! The “Cowboy’s” talent has brushed off on this kid, and I think he’s gonna take Ryder out tonight! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ * Sean Ryder vs. Randy Orton: The match starts with punches by Ryder, but Orton counters with a kick to the stomach, followed by a forearm to put Ryder down. Armbar by Orton is countered into a gutwrench suplex by “The Emperor”. After a failed submission attempt, Ryder hooks Orton in with a T-Bone suplex, followed by a triangle choke. Orton makes the ropes to break the count, but Ryder takes him back down with a belly-to-belly suplex. Ryder goes with another triangle choke, but Orton is too close to the ropes to save himself. Orton charges at Ryder, but Ryder is waiting, taking him down with a belly-to-belly throw (opponent was running at him, so it’s different than a set suplex). Ryder follows that up with a Texas Cloverleaf, but Orton is not willing to tap out. Ryder is frustrated, but instead of lashing out, Ryder goes for a pin, which gets a count of 2. Orton makes a small comeback with a kick to the gut, which gets countered into a side Russian leg sweep. Ryder gets Orton into the STF, but Orton will NOT give up! Ryder goes for another pin, but Orton gets a shoulder up just before 3. A final gutwrench suplex finally puts Orton down for the count. This match was a Ryder squash, a short ditty to get rid of the ring rust. I’ll be generous, and I’ll give this * . Winner: Sean Ryder by pinfall. Following the match, Ryder is interrupted in the locker room by Maven, the winner of the first WWE/MTV's "Tough Enough". Maven: "Hey, you're Sean Ryder, right? I saw your match. That was a great win for your debut match. I got my ass kicked so bad in my first match. Well, if you have any questions, feel free to ask me anything." I have a question. At what point do you start carrying Ryder's bags? Maven: "I can teach you a thing or two." Hmm...what can you teach him? How to get into the wrestling business the easy way possible? Maven: "Okay, see you later." And with that, Maven rolls out. That was quite humorous. Just a quick comment since you brought up Flair/Steamboat. The Flair/Steamboat match at Chi-Town heat, where Steamboat won the NWA title, was and still is the greatest match I've ever seen. Those two had some truly classic matches. They'd fight for 60 minutes, long before the short-attention span wrestling of Vince Russo became vogue.

Sunday Night Heat: April 14th, 2002
Opening Match: Sean Ryder vs. William Regal (Non-Title): Kneelift from Regal gets a retaliatory right hand from Ryder. Ryder puts Regal down with a sidewalk slam, then hooks him into the STF. There’s no way that Regal is going to tap out this early in the contest, so Ryder goes for the cover, which doesn’t even get a 1 count. German suplex follows by Ryder, and he hits the triangle choke. Regal charges at Ryder after he recovers, but gets slammed by a spinebuster from Ryder. T-Bone suplex by Ryder, followed by an anklelock. Regal is able to block out the pain, and fails to get up. After laying on the mat for a few seconds, Regal walks right into a gutwrench suplex (1) from Ryder. Ryder goes for a second anklelock, but Regal makes it to the ropes to force the referee to break the hold. Regal gets in a tiny flurry of offense, a kick to the gut, followed by punches and chops to the chest. Regal hits “The Emperor” with a European uppercut, but Ryder counters with the gutwrench (2) and the triangle choke. A third gutwrench & triangle choke still does not put away the European Champion. Ryder hits Regal with a belly-to-belly suplex into yet another STF. Regal gets to the ropes, and hits Ryder with a running kneelift. Ryder brushes it off, and puts Regal into a full nelson slam. He puts Regal in the “Imperial Torture”, but Regal fails to tap. A frustrated Ryder goes for a cover, which gets 2. Regal comes back with a double underhook suplex, but the cover only gets 1. Ryder comes back with a backdrop suplex into a Texas cloverleaf, and a cover is just short of 3. Ryder finally puts Regal away with the “Final Judgment”, which gives Ryder the upset victory over the European Champion! Another Ryder squash, but the psychology with Regal’s failure to tap out pushes this up from last week’s match, up to ** ¼ . Winner: Sean Ryder via pinfall. Following the match, Randy Orton runs out to the ring to capitalize on a fatigued Ryder. However, Maven rushes to Ryder’s aid, clearing the ring of both Orton and Regal. The two faces then shake hands. Hmm…I smell a tag match coming on. * Opening Match: Sean Ryder/Maven vs. William Regal/Randy Orton: Ryder and Orton start this one off. Orton stars the offense, scoring with a dropkick. Ryder counters with an atomic drop bomb (or “Bubba Bomb”) for a 2 count. Belly-to-belly by Ryder is followed by a kneedrop, but Orton takes him down with a defense punch as he gets back up. A second belly-to-belly by Ryder ends Orton’s offensive flurry. However, Orton comes back with an armbar, which Ryder not only reverses, but puts Orton in a dragon sleeper. After Orton gets up, a T-Bone suplex/triangle choke combo from Ryder takes him back down. A cover by Ryder gets a 1 count. Orton is getting rocked, as he is taken down with a side Russian leg sweep. Orton comes back with a punch and chop combo, but nearly has his head removed following a vicious clothesline from Ryder. Ryder then his Orton with a reverse neckbreaker (Orton’s neck has to be killing him at this point), which gets a count of 2. The pinfall attempt brings Regal into the ring, and he collides with his own partner! Regal makes up for it by hitting Ryder with the “Power of the Punch” (aka – punch with brass knuckles), then slaps an STF on Ryder! Then Ryder gets back up, hits Regal with a spinebuster, then counters with an STF of his own! After the referee gets the chaos under control, Ryder takes Orton down with two belly-to-belly throws, then slaps on the “Imperial Torture”. Randy Orton taps out clean. One question: where the hell was Maven? I’m giving this only ½ * for the lack of participation with the other two opponents. Winner: Sean Ryder & Maven via submission. [We now cut into the Heat broadcast. A frustrated Randy Orton is standing in the ring after the match, with Ryder standing on the entrance ramp.] Orton: Hey Ryder, you’re nothing more than an elderly punk. To be quite honest, I can’t stand you. If you have any guts, you’ll face me in a street fight next week! Ryder: You know what son, over ten years ago, I faced your father in the ring. Let’s just say that when I was done with him, the “Cowboy” moniker could no longer be applied. Kid, you better start studying, because I’m going to take you to school next Sunday, just like I did with your old man! [End of feed.] Other Matches -------------------- * Albert over The Hurricane * Main Event: Billy Gunn/Chuck Palumbo over Bubba Ray Dudley/Spike Dudley Sean Ryder’s Superstar Points: 60 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sunday Night Heat: April 28th, 2003 * Opening Match: TLC (Tables, Ladders & Chairs) Singles Match-Christian over Spike Dudley * Street Fight: Randy Orton vs. Sean Ryder: Jab by Ryder to start things off, followed up by a T-Bone suplex and kneedrop. Instead of going for the pin, Ryder heads to the outside to find a weapon. Baseball slide by Orton connects with Ryder, who is knocked to the ground on the outside. After being tossed back in, Ryder is hit by a shoulder block from Orton. As he is jawing with the crowd, however, Ryder sneaks up behind him and puts him in a dragon sleeper. Ryder heads out of the ring, then pulls out a table from under the ring and sets it up. “The Emperor” doesn’t pay attention to Orton during all of this, however, and Orton powerbombs Ryder through the table? Orton does not bother to make the cover, allowing Ryder the opportunity to get back up. Orton is almost knocked out of his boots with a hard clothesline by Ryder, who then follows up with a Texas cloverleaf. Orton will not give up yet, so Ryder pulls out a chair. DDT onto the chair by Ryder! A second DDT onto the chair! Just when you think Orton is out, however, Orton gets up and throws Ryder into the steel ring post, followed by a bulldog on the outside! A punch by Ryder is a quick counter to Orton’s offense, and a backdrop suplex puts Orton on the mat. Another Texas cloverleaf by Ryder does not cause Orton to submit, so Ryder decides to stand on top of the Spanish announce table! Orton is too scared to meet Ryder on the table, but Ryder continues to taunt Orton to come up in a funny moment. Ryder moves to the regular Heat announce table, but Orton is still too afraid. So, Ryder decides to leap off the table, hitting Orton with a flying crossbody block! This is followed up by a side Russian leg sweep, and Ryder misses with a second aerial move, this time an attempted splash. Orton hits Ryder with a standard vertical suplex, then climbs into the ring. Ryder follows suit eventually, and hits Orton with a gutwrench. Ryder goes back outside and picks up a chair, and Orton foolishly follows, getting hit with a DDT onto the chair for a third time! Ryder hits the “Imperial Torture” on the outside, but Orton will not submit! Ryder makes good use of the chair, DDT’ing Orton on it for the fourth time! Orton is out on his feet as Ryder puts him down with another clothesline. Back inside the ring now, Ryder hits Orton with a belly-to-belly suplex, followed by an anklelock. Orton is too close to the ropes, however, causing the break. Ryder goes for the cover instead, and gets a 3 count! A very entertaining bout that should have been on Smackdown, not Heat. *** Winner: Sean Ryder via pinfall. * Main Event: Chuck Palumbo over Billy Kidman Sean Ryder’s Superstar Points: 61 And as of now, I am up to date with my entries! So, that means I’ll have to go back to playing a little bit, and I should be back with an entry in the next day or two! |

Free Agent News: “Stone Cold” Steve Austin has returned, and has decided to sign with RAW. This deals a huge blow to Vince McMahon, who is lacking the top named talent to bring in the ratings for Smackdown. RAW now has the two biggest stars in the WWE (The Rock & Austin), as well as Jericho/Booker/Benoit/Edge/Guerrero. I guess you’re kinda regretting picking Lance Storm with the number five pick, aren’t ya Vince?
Sunday Night Heat: May 5th, 2002 * Opening Match: Sean Ryder vs. Lance Storm: Collar and elbow tie-up to start, with Ryder getting the better of it, taking down Storm with a side Russian leg sweep. Cloverleaf will not get Storm to tap (WAY too early for that). Storm comes back with a counter punch, but a missed kneelift by Storm gives Ryder the opportunity to hook him into a T-Bone suplex. Gutwrench into a triangle choke leaves Storm lying on the mat in pain, as Ryder taunts Storm with a “Just Bring It” motion. Punches exchanged by both men turns into a faux Irish whip by Ryder, as he pulls Storm back in for a belly-to-belly suplex. Once Storm gets up, he charges right into a spinebuster (done the correct way, the Arn Anderson way). A second cloverleaf by Ryder is followed by a second T-Bone, but Storm is too close to the ropes for Ryder to get a three count. Ryder pulls out a “Flashback” neckbreaker, but Storm gets a shoulder up at 1. Storm is gassed, as one punch by Ryder sends him back down, which gives Ryder the chance to slap on the STF. Another Russian leg sweep is only good for a 2 count. A full nelson slam is the set up for the “Imperial Torture”, but Storm will not tap! Ryder goes for a cover immediately, and Storm gets a shoulder up just before 3! Ryder hooks Storm into a dragon sleeper, which gets Storm to finally tap out. While another Ryder squash is good for this “Goldberg-like” push, it doesn’t do much for the entertainment value of the show. ¼ * Winner: Sean Ryder via submission. * Handicapped Match: Matt Hardy d. Randy Orton & Hardcore Holly * Main Event: European Title Match – Goldust d. William Regal to become the NEW European Champion! Sean Ryder’s Superstar Points: 62 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sunday Night Heat: May 12th, 2002 * Opening Match: Sean Ryder vs. Billy Gunn: Ryder starts us off with a T-Bone/triangle choke combo, followed by a T-Bone and a knee drop. Belly-to-belly suplex by Ryder, and it looks like another squash. After a third T-Bone, Ryder drops three or four knee drops to Gunn’s skull, just to rub it in. A full nelson slam opens up the opportunity for the anklelock, and Billy is doing everything he can not to tap out. Ryder is urging Gunn to charge at him, and Gunn is dumb enough to do it, getting thrown halfway across the ring with Ryder’s belly-to-belly throw. Gunn comes back with a clothesline, but a missed second clothesline gives Ryder the chance to take Gunn down with a reverse Death Valley Driver (we’ll go with “DVD” from now on), which gets a one count. Billy will not submit to the “Imperial Torture”, so Ryder goes for a cover, and gets two. Ryder gets Billy in the “Final Judgment”, which is enough to get the three count. This was definitely a DUD match. Winner: Sean Ryder via pinfall. * Triple Threat for the Cruiserweight Title: Lance Storm d. Hurricane & Matt Hardy to become the NEW Cruiserweight Champion! * Main Event: TLC Triple Threat – Bubba Ray Dudley d. Albert & William Regal Sean Ryder’s Superstar Points: 65 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sunday Night Heat: May 19th, 2002 * Opening Match: Goldust d. Lance Storm [Non-title Match] * Sean Ryder vs. Hardcore Holly: T-Bone by Ryder to start, but Holly recovers with a running kneelift. Ryder pulls out a guillotine choke, which goes into a T-Bone/knee drop combo for a one count. Punches from Holly are countered into a reverse DVD by Ryder for a one count. Cloverleaf by Ryder to weaken Holly, followed up by a Gutwrench. Anklelock by Ryder will not get Holly to tap. Spinebuster by Ryder counters the Holly charge, followed by a second cloverleaf. Dropkick by Holly leads to an Irish whip in the corner. Holly clotheslines Ryder in the corner, and it looks like Holly might take control. Ryder comes back with that reverse DVD to end that threat. Ryder goes for the cover, and gets three. DUD Winner: Sean Ryder via pinfall. * Main Event: Christian d. Billy Kidman Sean Ryder’s Superstar Points: 67 Last edited by SuburbanPimp : 05-04-2003 at 05:18 PM. |

Sunday Night Heat: May 26th, 2002
[Cue WWE signature, Heat opening, pyro, and the crowd.] Coach: Welcome to Sunday Night Heat! Tonight, we have a HUGE triple threat match in a steel cage, as Bubba Ray Dudl- Voice: ALL HAIL “THE EMPEROR”!! [As AC/DC’s “Back in Black” cues up, the crowd goes absolutely nuts for the arrival of Sean Ryder. Although he has only been on Heat, he has certainly gained a cult following in that time. As he walks out from the entrance, the ovation only gets louder. Dressed in blue jeans, black boots, and a black “All Hail ‘The Emperor’” shirt, it is different to see Ryder is something other than his wrestling gear. When he gets inside the ring, he grabs a microphone from a ringside attendant.] Ryder: You know, if someone has gone through the exact same as I have in the last decade, they might be content with signing a WWE contract, and then waste their lives wrestling a bunch of nobodies. They might be content to just “go through the motions”, and collect a fat paycheck at the end of the day. As I stand in front of you today, I can damn sure tell you that I am not one of those people! [The crowd gives a big pop for that statement.] Ryder: For over ten years, I traveled up and down the highways of this country, working independent shows for crap money, all in the name of getting back to the WWE one day. When they said that I was “too slow” and could not “keep up with the new generation”, I traveled over to Japan, and put on some of the best goddamn wrestling matches you will ever see! [Another pop.] Ryder: So, after I busted my ass, I finally get back to the WWE. After Vince McMahon fired my ass all those years ago, I think a little “welcome back payback” was well deserved. But now, I have been banished to Heat, supposedly forever. [Ryder takes a moment to pause, in an effort to control is uprising temper. It doesn’t work.] Ryder: I DIDN’T GO THROUGH THIS SH[bleep]T FOR TEN LONG YEARS TO GET DICKED AROUND BY VINCE McMAHON! [“RAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!”] Ryder: McMAHON, ALL OF THIS CRAP ENDS RIGHT HERE…TONIGHT!! [Cue up “No Chance In Hell”, followed by massive boos. Vince McMahon steps out onto the stage.] Vince: WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE, RYDER?! Ryder: I’M SOMEONE WHO IS GOING TO CRIPPLE YOUR ASS, RIGHT HERE TONIGHT, IF YOU DON’T GIVE ME WHAT I WANT!! [The look on Vince is one of shock. Usually, his typical question is never answered, let alone one with such violent intentions.] Ryder: AS A MATTER OF FACT, I THINK I’LL PERMANENTLY PUT YOU IN A WHEELCHAIR…RIGHT NOW!! [As the crowd goes absolutely nuts, Ryder steps halfway out of the ropes. Vince’s eyes quickly light up, and he backpedals.] Vince: Alright! Alright! You got it, tonight! [Big crowd pop.] Vince: But, I’m not gonna let it be that easy. You see, tonight, in that very ring, you have to win a match in order to get on Smackdown! [The crowd doesn’t like that at all.] Vince: And you’ll have to defeat…this man! [Music is cued up, and the fans begin to boo, familiar with the tune. Out steps Lance Storm, who is sporting both his WWE Tag Team Title and his WWE Cruiserweight Championship. He also has a microphone in his hand.] Lance Storm: Hey Ryder, you were certainly lucky in our last encounter. Tonight, however, it’ll be a much different story. Tonight, there is no way you’ll get me to tap out, like last time! Ryder: Hey Storm, there won’t be a need to get you to tap tonight, CAUSE I’M GONNA RIP YOUR HEAD RIGHT OFF YOUR SHOULDERS! [HUGE pop for that. These fans love violence.] Ryder: “THE EMPEROR” HAS SPOKEN!! [As “Back in Black” cues up again, Ryder exchanges words with both McMahon and Storm.] Coach: Wow! Tonight, Sean Ryder faces Lance Storm, and if Ryder is victorious, he earns a spot on the Smackdown roster! The Cat: It’s not gonna happen! Lance Storm is one of the toughest customers in the WWE, and he wants redemption for his lost last week to the European Champion, Goldust! As tough as Ryder is, I just don’t think he can pull this one out, especially with Vince hanging around in the back! -------------------------------------------------------------------- * Opening Match: The Hurricane d. Randy Orton * Steel Cage Triple Threat: Chuck Palumbo d. William Regal & Bubba Ray Dudley * Main Event: Sean Ryder vs. Lance Storm [Non-Title Contest]: Irish whip by Storm to start, but a missed spinning heel kick is countered into a hard clothesline by Ryder. Triangle choke by Ryder does not get the tap (well, Storm is keeping to his word…for now). Charge by Storm, but he gets caught in a belly-to-belly suplex/dragon sleeper combo. A second charge by Storm gets him caught in a second belly-to-belly suplex and a second triangle choke! You would figure that Storm would learn not to charge at Ryder by now. A third belly-to-belly goes into the anklelock, and Ryder has Storm at his mercy. Just when you think that this is going to be another practice session for “The Emperor”, Storm comes back with a leg lariat. FEAR THE WEAK OFFENSE! A reverse DVD gets a two count, so Ryder slaps on an STF for fun. Sidewalk slam by Ryder gets another two count. A second anklelock will not get him to tap, and another two count for Ryder. Storm gets locked into the “Imperial Torture”, but he still will not tap, and he barely gets a shoulder up before three. Ryder is back with a gutwrench, and then he pulls out an impressive screwdriver slam for a three count. DUD Winner: Sean Ryder via pinfall. [“No Chance In Hell” is cued up again, and the boos start. Out comes Vince.] Vince: Sean Ryder, congratulations on a hard fought victory. Now, Vince McMahon has always been a man of his word…until tonight! [HUGE boos for that statement.] Vince: Ryder, you will NEVER be on Smackdown, no matter how hard you try, and there is no one that can stop me! Coach: WHAT?! Vince McMahon has screwed Ryder once again! [Suddenly, the “Generic WrestleMania Theme” is cued up, and a video feed is put up on the Titantron.] The Cat: NO WAY! Coach: OH YES WAY! THAT’S LINDA McMAHON! Linda McMahon: There is no one that can stop you, Vince? Well, I’m here to remind you that one person can stop you, that being the CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment, me! Vince: Whoa, whoa, whoa. I’m the owner of Smackdown, damnit! Linda: And at this moment, that amounts to jack squat! By the powers vested in me, I hereby announce that Sean Ryder has been promoted to the roster of Smackdown! [The crowd goes absolutely INSANE, as Vince throws a temper tantrum. Ryder can only laugh.] Ryder: And now Vince, NO ONE can stop me from becoming the Undisputed WWE Champion! [Big pop. Again.] Ryder: “THE EMPEROR” HAS SPOKEN!! [“Back in Black” cues up again.] Coach: SEAN RYDER IS ON THE SMACKDOWN ROSTER! WHAT WILL HAPPEN ON THURSDAY NIGHT?! [Fade to black.] Sean Ryder’s Superstar Points: 68 Last edited by SuburbanPimp : 05-06-2003 at 10:10 PM. |

[WWE signature.] [Fade in to a generic locker room. In fact, it’s generic because it is the visitors locker room (you don’t want the opponent to feel “at home”, right?). When the fans see Sean Ryder for the first time, sitting on a metal chair, he receives a pretty good reaction. Yes, there are a few who catch Sunday Night Heat, but he is unknown to a good number of the population that just watch RAW & Smackdown. As he is casually prepping himself for an unknown match this evening, he is interrupted by none other than Vince McMahon, who steps into the dressing room.] Vince: Well, well, well, it’s Sean Ryder! [Ryder flashes a smile to his enemy. You can just hear the sarcasm in his voice.] Ryder: As always Vinnie, it is a pleasure to see you. Vince: Cute…I stopped by today to let you know that June is upon us. Do you know what that means? [Ryder scratches his chin for a moment.] Ryder: Hmm…thirty more days to make your life a living hell? [Vince’s shows a flash of anger in his face for a moment. He didn’t like that one.] Vince: No no, June means that it’s time for the “King of the Ring” tournament! Now, a question for you, if I may… Ryder: But of course! Vince: Do you think your recent performances qualify you for a “King of the Ring” entry? [Ryder chuckles. Is he serious?] Ryder: Well, I don’t know Vince. Has Lance Storm been scraped off the canvas yet? Was Randy Orton able to pull that boot out of his ass? Oh…how’s your back doing, Vince? Vince: It has healed quite nicely, thank you. Well, I might not have been able to prevent you from joining the Smackdown roster, there is something that I do have control over. Ryder, I don’t think your performances on Heat are enough to warrant one of the Smackdown slots in the tournament! You have no chance this year! Maybe if your…old bones are still in tact next year, I might consider it. [Vince now sports a smile on his face, and you can hear him laughing, albeit faintly.] Ryder: Is that it? Vince: Yes…for now. Ryder: Good. Well, now that I know that my “dance card” is empty for the pay-per-view, I have one simple request… Vince: Go ahead. Ryder: I want a shot at the European Champion! [Vince’s laugh can definitely be heard now.] Vince: Look, I don’t have the time for your requests, you’re not important to me. But hey, you should take it up with Goldust. It’s his call. [Ryder nods.] Vince: Oh…by the way, good luck on your match with Albert tonight! [Ryder smiles at McMahon.] Ryder: Aww, Vinnie-Pooh, I thought you would actually give me a challenge tonight! [End scene. Cue the Smackdown opening video.] ------------------------------------------------------------------- * Opening Match: Sean Ryder vs. Albert: The “BIG HOSS!” (according to Jim Ross) Albert starts off with a knee to Ryder’s gut, followed by kicks. Ryder comes back with a punch to the stomach which takes Albert down, then slaps on a cloverleaf. Vertical suplex by Albert, but he cannot capitalize on it. Ryder takes down Al with a spinebuster, followed by an STF. Following a defensive punch, the over 300 pound Albert is picked up into a reverse DVD by Ryder! Albert charges right into a belly-to-belly suplex, and a cover is broken by the ropes. Albert comes back with another vertical suplex, but a follow-up legdrop misses. Ryder hits Albert with a T-Bone, which almost gets a three count. “Flashback” neckbreaker by Ryder gets another two count. Albert slaps Ryder with a sleeperhold, followed by a sidewalk slam. An Irish whip by Albert is reversed into a DDT by Ryder, who then uses the guillotine choke. Albert comes back with a third vertical suplex (hey, at least the big oaf knows the basics), but Ryder shows him how to do a kick ass suplex, taking him down with another T-Bone, which gets two. Anklelock by Ryder will not get Albert to tap, and a cover gets two. Albert comes back with an avalanche splash, who then goes into a chinlock (because Albert is all about SLOW, EXCITING MOVES!). When Ryder gets back up, he surprises Albert with a full nelson bomb, followed by a cloverleaf. A pinfall attempt by Ryder almost wins it, but Albert gets the shoulder up just before three. Gutwrench by Ryder is the setup for the “Imperial Torture”, but Albert will not tap! A pinfall attempt gets three, however. Ryder carries yet another match. * ¼ Winner: Sean Ryder via pinfall. [Following the match, Goldust makes an appearance on the entrance stage.] Goldust: Hey Ryder, I heard you want a shot at me! Let me tell you something, though, you better bring your “A” game! I’ll have a title match with you at the pay-per-view! [Goldust’s tune “Gold-Lust” is cued up, and the European Champion exits. End segment.] * Non-Title Match: Goldust d. Big Show (WHAT?!) * Non-Title “Hell in a Cell” Triple Threat: The Undertaker d. Rob Van Dam & Kurt Angle Sean Ryder’s Superstar Points: 69 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Smackdown: June 6th, 2002 * Opening Match: Sean Ryder/Bradshaw Vs. Albert/Goldust: Ryder and Goldust starts us off. Goldust goes to work immediately with punches and kicks, but Ryder dumps him over the top rope. Albert comes in to illegally work on Ryder, but “The Emperor” stops Albert cold with a reverse DVD! Bradshaw and Goldust are having a stare down on the outside, but nothing comes of it. Once Albert gets back to his feet, Ryder takes him back down with another reverse DVD! Goldust sees his opportunity to come back inside, as he catches Ryder from behind with a bulldog. Following a chinlock by Goldie, he tags Albert in, and they double-team Ryder in the corner. Snake eyes from Albert on Ryder, who quickly tags Goldust back in, and a double-team backbreaker puts Ryder down, followed by a sleeperhold by Goldust. Bradshaw comes in illegally to help out Ryder, but the referee stops him, allowing more double team work by Goldie/Albert. When the ref gets Albert out of the ring, Ryder hits Goldust with a belly-to-belly suplex, allowing Sean the opportunity to make the hot tag to Bradshaw. As Bradshaw comes in, he is immediately knocked silly by an uppercut from Goldust, into a sidewalk slam. The referee gets knocked out in all of this chaos, and the European champ sees the opportunity to choke Bradshaw. A shoulder thrust by Bradshaw buys him some time, but Goldust comes back with a hair pull. Bradshaw is whipped into the ropes, and Goldust slaps on a sleeper. Goldust then tags in Albert, who pancakes Bradshaw with a running Lou Thesz press (more commonly used by Steve Austin). Vertical suplex by Bradshaw counters, and a powerbomb looks to be the match ender. Unfortunately, Bradshaw is a dumb redneck, so he goes for a rear chinlock instead of a pin. Once Albert comes to, he ducks a Bradshaw clothesline, then counters with a sidewalk slam. Bradshaw comes back in impressive fashion though, as he gorilla press slams Albert! A neckbreaker follows by Bradshaw, and Goldust breaks up the pinfall attempt. Ryder comes racing across the ring, nearly taking Goldust’s head off with a clothesline! This knocks Goldust out of the ring, and the crowd goes INSANE as the two opponents at “King of the Ring” go at it on the outside! Meanwhile, a sidewalk slam by Bradshaw is followed by the “Clothesline From Hell”, but Goldust again breaks up the pinfall attempt! All four men are now in the ring, and Albert accidentally pulls an avalanche splash on the referee! THIS HAS TURNED INTO A PIER SIX BRAWL! COOLATA! Ryder T-Bone’s Goldust, and a bulldog by Bradshaw on Albert will not get a count, as the referee is STILL down! Snake Eyes by Bradshaw is followed by a wheelbarrow slam, and then he does a facebuster on the REFEREE! How could that NOT be a disqualification?! On the outside, Goldust slams Ryder into the ring post, and Albert gorilla presses Bradshaw on the inside! Bradshaw comes back with the “Clothesline From Hell” from out of nowhere, but it only gets two! Elbow drop/powerbomb follows by Bradshaw, but Goldust hits Bradshaw with the “Curtain Call” from behind! Ryder breaks up the attempted pinfall, and Albert comes in on the tag. Ryder gets tagged in as well, as he hits Albert with a German suplex! He tags Bradshaw back in, who hits Albert with a full nelson slam. Albert comes back with his “Baldo Bomb” finisher, but only gets one thanks to Ryder’s save. Bradshaw comes back with a flying elbow, and a third “Clothesline From Hell” only gets two due to a rope break! On the outside, Ryder is picking another fight with Goldie, as he slaps on a guillotine choke. “Final Judgment” on Goldust, and the European Champion is out cold! Ryder then puts on a Texas cloverleaf, but Goldust can’t even tap out, but not like it matters (can’t tap out outside the ring). Full nelson slam by Bradshaw inside the ring, and a full nelson bomb by Ryder to Goldie on the outside! Ryder is not focused on the match, however, as Albert hits a second “Baldo Bomb” on Bradshaw to get the victory. Ryder & Goldust brawl to the back. Super hot tag match, with surprising efforts by both Bradshaw and Albert. **** Winners: Albert/Goldust via pinfall. * Kane d. It's funny that two years after stopping watching wrestling there are only a few names that are unfamiliar. How is Rob van Dam doing in the WWF by the way? I saw a couple of ECW shows back in the day and dug his stoner routine.
Looking forward to you moving up from fueding with Albert (from T&A I assume) to the big boys like HHH.

Where is Rob Van Dam now? Hmm...you got ten minutes?
Okay, RVD is a HUGE fan favorite on the RAW roster, 1/2 of a makeshift team with Kane which currently holds the RAW Tag Titles. He's been in a holding pattern for THE LAST TWO YEARS, basically because Triple H (RAW's Champion) will not drop the title to anyone not named "Kevin Nash" or "Shawn Michaels", therefore the much-needed new stars are not made. RVD should be in a RAW title triangle with Jericho & Booker T, but because Trips is engaged to Steph McMahon (and not in old storyline terms...they truly are), RVD is not going anywhere until Trips pulls his quad again. But, that quad is hanging on by a thread, so hopefully sooner rather than later, RVD will get the belt. From what I've heard, his knees are shot to hell, and I don't know if he has even five years left. It could be worse....he could be popping pills like Jeff Hardy, fail two drug tests, and be fired. |

Coming Up: The oddest wrestling match I HAVE EVER SEEN...SERIOUSLY!!!!!!!!
Also, a couple of opinion questions for you kids. If you like these, they will take effect after King of the Ring. 1) Now that Ryder is on Smackdown, I also have access to the results of RAW. Do you want me to post them? (I'll put them in a bulleted format, like non-Ryder matches on Smackdown.) 2) Not only do Ryder's superstar points rise and fall, but every wrestler's does. At the end of the month, what would you think if I posted the rosters, with their new updated points? To voice your opinions, dial 1-888-IDOLS-05...whoops, wrong show. |

The two winners will face off next week on RAW! Smackdown: June 13th, 2002 Ryder has the week off, but will return next week. I guess the ratings can plummet for just one week. * KOTR Quarterfinal: Matt Hardy d. Albert * KOTR Quarterfinal: Hardcore Holly d. Bubba Ray Dudley * Street Fight: Brock Lesnar d. Kane Sean Ryder’s Superstar Points: 69 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ KOTR Update: On RAW, Rhyno d. Tajiri to move onto the finals at the pay-per-view! Smackdown: June 20th, 2002 * Steel Cage Fatal Four Way [Escape Only]: Sean Ryder Vs. Bradshaw Vs. William Regal Vs. Christian: Ryder & Regal and Bradshaw & Christian is how we start this off. Irish whip by Regal, but Ryder is able to counter the back body drop, but Regal catches him on the rebound with a kneelift. Meanwhile, Christian takes Bradshaw down with a couple of punches. Punches by Regal is countered into a reverse DVD, and all the while, Christian is climbing up the cage. Ryder goes over to stop him, but it’s too late. Christian wins the match in less than twenty seconds? WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?! -*** (Yes, those are negative stars, folks) This is not just the oddest, but it is indeed the worst match I have ever seen, in the real world or the video game world. WWE Excitement…CATCH IT! * KOTR Semifinal: Hardcore Holly d. Matt Hardy * Main Event: Non-Title Match: The Undertaker d. Goldust Sean Ryder’s Superstar Points: 69 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ King of the Ring PPV: June 23rd, 2002 * European Championship Match - Goldust (c) vs. Sean Ryder: Punches by Ryder to start, into a T-Bone suplex. Goldust is on the ground in pain, and Ryder motions Goldie to “just bring it”. Goldie does just that, knocking the wind out of Ryder with a kick to the stomach. Goldust’s Irish whip is countered by Ryder into a reverse DVD, followed by a cloverleaf. Irish whip into the corner by Goldust, which is the setup for the “Shattered Dreams”! He hits it! Goldust covers, but there’s a rope break! If it was a clean cover, it would be over. “Flashback” neckbreaker by Ryder to buy him some time, then works Goldie with a triangle choke. Backdrop by Goldust, which does not even get a one count. Reverse avalanche by Goldust, but Ryder comes back with a backdrop of his own. A second cloverleaf will not get Goldust to tap, so Ryder goes with another triangle choke. Ryder makes a cover, but only a one count. The “decapitator” clothesline by Ryder follows, followed up by the anklelock. A follow-up cover by Ryder gets two. Armdrag by Goldust is countered into a reverse DVD, followed by the dragon sleeper. Goldie will not give up, and actually comes back with the reverse avalanche, followed by a low blow (I guess the ref didn’t see it). Elbow drop by Goldust, with a backbreaker to follow. Vertical suplex by Goldust, and he misses a flying cross body block from the top rope! Ryder catches Goldust with the “Final Judgment”, and you can count to 1,000 if you like. New champion. * 1/2 Winner and NEW European Champion: Sean Ryder * Rhyno d. Hardcore Holly to become the 2002 King of the Ring * WWE Championship Match: Brock Lesnar d. The Undertaker (c) to become the NEW Undisputed WWE Champion! Sean Ryder’s Superstar Points: 74

Congrats on the title win. And I'd say include as much as you want... I like full detail myself, but if you don't like doing it it's not worth it.

Heh, good thing you were rested up for the title match, I mean had the 4 way gone even a minute, you may not have recovered in time
I could just imagine how much fun Christian would have with that in promo's for the next while, you may have to teach him some manners.

RAW: June 24th, 2002
* Hell in a Cell Match: Test d. Scotty 2 Hotty * Hardcore Triple Threat: Tazz d. Raven & Tajiri * Main Event: Non-Title Cage Match: Brock Lesnar d. Steve Austin Smackdown: June 27th, 2002 * Billy Kidman/Bubba Ray Dudley/The Hurricane d. William Regal/Albert/Hardcore Holly * Sean Ryder/Rikishi vs. Lance Storm/Christian [Non-Title]: Ryder & Christian start. Armbar by Christian takes Ryder down, then whips Ryder into the corner. Christian then puts Ryder on the top turnbuckle for a superplex, and it looks like it could be over already! Christian does not capitalize, however, allowing Ryder to get up and use the reverse DVD (I gotta make a name for that) into the cloverleaf. A triangle choke follows. Counterpunch by Christian, followed up by a backdrop. Rikishi comes in to help out, and all four men are now in the ring. Ryder with a full nelson bomb on Christian, with an anklelock to follow. Christian doesn’t tap, and comes back with a dropkick. A pin is broken up by Rikishi, who gives Christian a backbreaker. Christian tags in Storm, who is immediately knocked down with a hard punch by Rikishi. Once the referee gets some order, Storm bodyslams Ryder, then Storm works on Ryder’s left leg, with a kick to the left knee. Ryder comes back with a backdrop, and Storm gets an anklelock. Storm retaliates with a DDT, which sets up his “Canadian Maple Leaf” submission. Rikishi comes in for the save, and gives Storm a swinging neckbreaker. This allows Ryder to pull off a gutwrench, which gives way to the “Imperial Torture”. Storm has no choice but to tap, and Ryder has single-handedly defeated the Tag Team Champions! DUD Winners: Sean Ryder/Rikishi via submission. Following the match, both Ryder & Rikishi are beat down by the champs, which will probably set up a match for the Tag Team Championships. * Main Event: Non-Title Triple Threat: Brock Lesnar d. Kane & Chuck Palumbo Sean Ryder’s Superstar Points: 75 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RAW: July 1st, 2002 * Tornado Tag Team Cage Match: Chris Benoit/Eddie Guerrero d. Al Snow/Maven * Non-Title Hell in a Cell Match: Brock Lesnar d. The Rock * Main Event: The Undertaker d. Booker T Smackdown: July 4th, 2002 [Cue WWE Signature.] [Cut into Sean Ryder’s locker room. “The Emperor” has just arrived, wearing black jeans and a gray Texas Longhorns t-shirt, and sporting a pair of black sunglasses. After he rests his black duffel bag on a nearby chair, he pulls open to reveal the shiny gold of the European Championship. After he stares at his fairly new possession, there is a knock at his door.] Ryder: Come in. [The door doesn’t open. A few seconds pass, then Ryder makes his way to the door. When he opens it, no one is there, which causes Ryder to look both ways for a departing figure. However, there is an envelope lying on the floor. Ryder picks it up, opens it, and reads.] Ryder: Go to…the parking lot? [After shaking his head, Ryder leaves his locker room. His pace is an quick one, grabbing the attention of various crew members as he passes them. When gets out to the parking lot, he immediately sees Rikishi, who is lying on the pavement in pain. When Ryder rushes over to him, he sees that his tag team partner has been cut open on his forehead, with blood slowly trickling down his forehead to the pavement.] Ryder: Who the hell did this to you? [Before the big man can answer his question, Christian comes out from behind a parked truck, a lead pipe in his hands. As usual, he is sporting a proud smile on his face.] Christian: Hey, what happened here? Ryder: You son of a bit- Christian: No need to be so hostile, Ryder! Besides, I don’t think you want to mess with me, let alone me with this toy here! [Christian pats the lead pipe, which has a small amount of Rikishi’s blood on it.] Christian: So, it looks like the WWE Tag Title match you wanted tonight is not going to happen. But I guess in your case, that’s a good thing. Ryder: Hmm…and why is that? Christian: Well, seeing that I was able to beat your ass in twenty seconds just a couple of weeks ago, I don’t think you want to face both me and Lance Storm. So, you go ahead and take the night off, and there’s no need to thank me. Ryder: Well, I want to thank you anyway…in advance. [As Christian begins to walk away, he has a confused look on his face. Why would Ryder say that? End segment, cue Smackdown opening.] * Opening Match: Bubba Ray Dudley d. Hardcore Holly [Cut to Christian’s locker room. The WWE Tag Team Champion is holding up his belt at the moment, checking out how he looks in the reflection from the gold plating. Suddenly, his door swings open, and Sean Ryder walks in. Christian backpedals, and appears a bit timid for someone who was just bragging about beating him in twenty seconds.] Christian: What the hell do you want? [As Ryder begins, his voice is one of sincerity.] Ryder: As I told you earlier, I wanted to thank you for what you did. Christian: Well, you’re quite welcome. I know that you’ve been gone from this game for…what…ten years? Ryder: I wouldn’t quite say that- Christian: And an old man – such as yourself – would stand no chance against the awesomeness of one-half of the WWE Tag Team Champions! Ryder: Well, I think I’ve beat Lance Storm ten or eleven times already… [Christian looks frustrated by that comment.] Christian: I’m talking about ME! [Ryder soon catches on, and nods his head quickly.] Ryder: Oh…OH! Right! Christian: Good. Now after so rudely interrupting me, you may take your leave. [Ryder nods again, and turns to leave the room. Before he does, however, he turns around and comes back to Christian.] Ryder: Oh, I forgot one more thing. There was another reason why I wanted to thank you. [Christian sighs.] Christian: Oh? What now? Ryder: I stopped by Vinnie’s office, and he seemed to be quite busy. So, in order to get me out of my face…he gave the OK for a match between me and you…tonight. [As Christian’s jaw drops, Ryder gives a couple of hard pats to Christian’s chest.] Ryder: So get you’re gear on, cause we’re up next. [And with that, Ryder exits. End segment.] * Sean Ryder vs. Christian: Christian hits Ryder with a big right hand…and pins him! THE MATCH IS OVER, AND CHRISTIAN WINS IN FIVE SECONDS! Just kidding. Missed dropkick by Christian to start, but he comes back with a schoolboy rollup, but there’s a rope break. A spinebuster by Ryder makes way for the STF, and Christian is crying already. Christian counters with another schoolboy, and this time he has a handful of Ryder’s tights, but Ryder manages to get out at two. Back elbow/armbar combination by Christian, by Ryder stops the momentum with a reverse DVD (I MUST get a name for that move, Ryder does it so much…any suggestions?) into a cloverleaf, but no tap-age from Christian. After recovering, Christian charges right into a belly-to-belly suplex, and Ryder damn near throws him out of the ring! A second belly-to-belly suplex almost takes Christian out of the ring again, and a cover gets two. Armbar by Christian goes into an attempted German suplex, but Ryder counters the throw by landing on his feet, and Ryder finally tosses Christian out of the ring with a German of his own. This guy is a beast, and an eventual match with Lesnar would be quite interesting. When Christian crawls back in, he charges into a Ryder spinebuster, which sets up the anklelock. Christian with yet another charge, and he hits Ryder with a spear! Christian attempts to capitalize by bringing Ryder to his feet, but Ryder takes Christian down with a full nelson bomb. “Imperial Torture” on Christian will not get him to tap, and Christian actually gets offense in following that, in the form of an atomic drop and a backslide pin attempt, but gets only one. Full nelson slam by Ryder, and Christian barely gets a shoulder up before three! Vertical suplex by Christian is countered into “Final Judgment”, and Christian gets pinned. ** Winner: Sean Ryder via pinfall. * Main Event: Non-Title Fatal 4 Way: Brock Lesnar d. Kurt Angle, Rob Van Dam & Kane Sean Ryder’s Superstar Points: 76 |

Though that last match took at least 3 minutes too long

I'm going to say that the cause of this layoff was an "extended mourning period over the loss of Michael Jordan".
I've played a lot of MVP Baseball & NBA Street Vol. 2 to get me through these difficult times, and I think I'm better now. Oh, while I'm here, I'm gonna blow off a little steam. Now, I consider myself a true wrestling fan, putting through a lot of the crap that the WWE has been dishing out over the last year or so, finding some silver lining with the likes of Kurt Angle & Chris Benoit putting on good matches. However, with Angle out since WrestleMania due to neck surgery, the last two months have been HORRIFIC, as Vince and the gang have managed to put on two of the worst PPVs in recent memory. This recent stuff with "Mr. America" (a "suspended" Hulk Hogan running around in a blue mask, basically) is bringing me to the breaking point. So, if you hear a story about some guy throwing his WrestleMania 1-13 box set into the street, then running away ripping his hair out, you'll know who it is. Okay, back to more of this stuff.

* Six Man Battle Royal: Edge d. Mark Henry, Faarooq, Shawn Stasiak, Test & Tajiri * Chris Benoit/Eddie Guerrero d. Al Snow/Maven (Again?) * Non-Title Match: Brock Lesnar d. Steve Austin Smackdown: July 11th, 2002 * Steel Cage Triple Threat [Escape Only]: Bubba Ray Dudley d. William Regal & Christian * Street Fight: Sean Ryder vs. Lance Storm: Yeah, AGAIN. Let’s make this quick, shall we? T-Bone to start by Ryder, followed up by a spinebuster/cloverleaf combo. Reverse DVD puts Storm back on the mat, and Ryder hunts outside for goodies. He pulls out a chair, but Storm comes to, and bodyslams Ryder on the outside, then follows up with a dropkick & Russian leg sweep. Back inside the ring, Ryder comes back with a punch & cloverleaf, and Ryder is begging for MORE COWBELL! Maybe not. A triangle choke follows, Storm won’t tap, but instead hits Ryder with a bodyslam & throws him out of the ring. Jawbreaker by Storm on the outside, and a vertical suplex by Storm is countered into a “Flashback” neckbreaker by Ryder. Full nelson slam on the outside by Ryder, and Ryder goes to the Spanish announce table! Storm foolishly follows, and Ryder T-Bone’s him through the table in a very cool spot! When Storm finally comes to, Ryder is standing in the ring, and Storm busts out a sledgehammer. Ryder immediately kicks Storm in the gut (causing Storm to drop the sledge), and he picks it up himself. Ryder quickly hits Storm in the stomach with the sledge, sending Storm down the ground. What happens next is absolutely sickening. Ryder doesn’t stop. As Storm lies motionless on the ground, Ryder repeatedly slams the sledgehammer in Storm’s back. He then chokes Storm with the handle of the sledge, and goes back to hacking away at Storm. The crowd is part excited and disgusted, and Michael Cole is screaming for the referee to stop the match. When a sadistic Ryder has had his fill, he covers Storm for the pin. ** ¼ Winner: Sean Ryder via pinfall. Following the match, EMT’s rush out to ringside, and Storm is carted away on a stretcher. As all of this goes down, Ryder looks from a distance with a smile on his face. * Main Event - Steel Cage Match: Big Show d. Rikishi gets beat up by Christian in a chair attack two weeks ago and is STILL out, but Storm is destroyed by a frickin’ sledgehammer, and is healthy the next week. WHAT IN THE BLUE HELL DO YOU CANADIANS HAVE IN YOUR WATER?! Ryder and Christian start it out. Hard right hand by Ryder sends Christian down, and Ryder slaps on a cloverleaf. Christian charges, and gets taken down with a belly-to-belly suplex, followed by an STF. The “20 Second Man” gets caught in a second belly-to-belly suplex, which goes into a dragon sleeper. A third belly-to-belly to Christian, but Christian comes back with a dropkick to Ryder’s right knee. Ryder stops that offensive “flurry”, however, with an anklelock. Christian won’t tap, and Ryder takes him back down with a full nelson bomb/triangle choke combo, followed by a cloverleaf. Christian manages to get out of Ryder’s grasp, however, and tags in Storm. They double team Ryder for a bit, allowing Storm to get in a German suplex. Counterpunch by Ryder follows with a cloverleaf, and Ryder takes Storm back down with a dragon screw when the “Quick Healer” gets back up. Jawbreaker by Storm follows, and his Canadian Maple Leaf finisher cannot get hooked on. Instead, Storm goes for a Boston crab, but Ryder will not tap out. Spinebuster by Ryder into a triangle choke, but Christian breaks it up. The “decapitator” clothesline sets up another cloverleaf, and a follow up STF gets Storm to tap out. DUD Winner: Sean Ryder via submission. Following the contest, the tag champs lay the boots to Ryder, but to the surprise of everyone, Rikishi comes out to make the save! Storm & Christian roll out of the ring, and Rikishi grabs a microphone. Rikishi: We can’t wait to kick some ass, right Ryder? Ryder: I’ll tell you what, I’m in the mood for a little hardcore tag team match at Vengeance! What do you say, champs? Storm: Alright! We’ll take up your offer! Christian: And we’ll see if you can even last…TWENTY SECONDS! [Cue up Christian’s music, “At Last”, as the four men trade some trash talking.] * Main Event: Kurt Angle d. Kane Sean Ryder’s Superstar Points: 78 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Vengeance PPV: July 21st, 2002 * Hardcore Title Fatal Four Way: Chuck Palumbo d. Bradshaw (c), Raven & Matt Hardy to become the NEW Hardcore Champion! [Cut to backstage, as Sean Ryder & Rikishi are preparing for their upcoming match with Lance Storm & Christian. Enter Vince McMahon, who is not exactly happy to be near Ryder. The feeling is more than mutual.] Ryder: Can I help you? Vince: I just wanted to come by, and see how you two are doing. [Ryder rolls his eyes.] Ryder: Alright, cut the crap, Vince. What do you want? [Vince’s eyes turn to slits. How dare someone talk to the chairman like that! He soon flashes a smile.] Vince: I just wanted to notify you that despite your hard work in the past couple of weeks, Sean, it has done little to impress me. Ryder: Oh really? Vince: Really. In fact, I’m so unimpressed, I don’t believe that you two are worthy enough to have the WWE Tag Team Championships on the line tonight. [As Rikishi inches forward, Vince lightly slaps Ryder’s cheek.] Vince: You have a good evening, gentlemen. [As Vince walks out of the room, Rikishi shouts a censored obscenity. Ryder runs his fingers through his hair in order to keep his cool.] Ryder: God I need a sledgehammer… [End segment.] * Hardcore Tornado Tag Match [Non-Title]-Sean Ryder/Rikishi vs. Lance Storm/Christian: “Tornado” rules means all four men are in the ring at the same time. Dropkick by Storm to Ryder, and Ryder goes with a German suplex to counter. Triangle choke by Ryder on Storm. Clothesline by Rikishi to Christian, and a backdrop by Ryder on Storm. Cloverleaf slapped on Storm, while Christian hits a neckbreaker on Rikishi. Storm comes back with a fireman’s carry slam on Ryder, and a vertical suplex by Storm is countered into a full nelson bomb by Ryder, into a cloverleaf. A second cloverleaf by Ryder to Storm will not get Lance to tap out. STF by Ryder on Storm, followed by a gutwrench. DDT by Christian on Rikishi, and a reverse DVD/anklelock combo by Ryder on Storm. A second STF on Storm is still not enough to get the submission for Ryder, so he slaps on the “Imperial Torture”. Storm looks like he’s going to tap, but Christian delivers a dropkick to Ryder in order to break up the hold. Sidewalk slam by Ryder on Storm, which gets a count of two. Bodyslam by Storm on Ryder follows, and Christian misses a dropkick attempt on Rikishi, and gets splashed (or should I say squashed?) by the 400 pounder as a result. As Rikishi dumps Christian to the outside, Ryder hits “Final Judgment” on Storm, and gets the three count.
