The Mariners axe Don Wakamatsu. The final straw was probably his dugout fight with Chone Figgins a few weeks ago.

Wak can "thank" Griffey for the problems he's had with team morale this season.

Never been projected as more than a 3 starter. It's taken some time, but his numbers are regressing to where they should have been all along.

Mike Leake 2010 Pitching Gamelogs - Baseball-Reference.com

What are you seeing that I'm not? His last start has been changed from 6 earned runs to none because of a scoring change. He hasn't been over 110 pitches all year and he's only gone over 100 six of his 20 starts.

Throw in the fact there were two legit hits tonight and the rest was just a bunch of sloppy crap and he's fine. Just starting to show normal rookie fatigue.

Don't forget he went straight from college to the pros. He's bound to have some struggles.

Dusty has been surprisingly good with managing pitch counts this year.

Making his MLB debut for the Braves tonight, pitcher Mike Minor looked like he was going to have an RBI single in his first at bat after hitting a line drive through the right side of the infield. Unfortunately he was thrown out at first from right field with two outs.

The announcer said he'd been 0-18 (with 11 K's) in the minors this season too.

I agree. I was expecting typical Dusty when he sent him out for 103 pitches in his first professional start, but so far he's averaging less than 95 pitches per start and he's on pace to pitch about 185 innings. That's perfectly reasonable for a 22 year old.

It's not just Leake. Dusty's also been good with Voltron and Wood.

I think Dusty's probably had a little bit of help being good.

Shitty luck did him in on the mound too. His line of 4 ER over 6 IP doesn't look good but a lot of that was brought on by getting dinked & dunked, it's not as though he was getting hammered. And then the bullpen had a total meltdown which made the final score really ugly.

Molina hits a homerun because umps squeeze Cueto by not allowing anything inside or outside. Then proceeds to taunt the whole way around. I'd drill him in back of the head the very next pitch he sees.

Man, really hope we beat the Twins tonight and then of course go on to take the series. I've had a damn frustrating last couple days.

And Quentin answered with a 3 R HR to keep us alive at 5-3. I hate it when Garcia is having a bad day.

At this point, that's all about the Pirates can do, hit another pitcher who clearly had a pitch get away from him in the previous inning. They have to do something to fire up the 37 fans in the stands.

Not sure we watched the same game. The Cards won the one I watched. Phillips can talk all Sept/Oct while the Cards make the playoffs again.

History. Been to the playoffs 8 times since your guys last trip. Don't take too much out of me posting either. My family is from Cincinnati and I used to be a huge Reds fan (still am a huge Bengals fan). I just think Phillips is another example of a yahoo who can't back up his words.

This Cards/Reds feud is heating up on more than just the field it seems.

Yea. I'm loving every minute of it. The Cards are the superior team, but I have absolute faith that the Reds can keep up with them.

I like this heated rivalry developing though. Never experienced something like this with Reds baseball. Makes it fun.

I still haven't heard any of the Cards fans dispute that their team and manager are a bunch of whiny little bitches. They may yet win the Central, but that doesn't mean they're not a bunch of punk asses.

What I find funny is how when he these cocky-ass teams in Oakland who figured the Reds to be easy in 1990 and they said so, he thought it was funny. Then after they lost, they were all still whining about them being the better team. Throw in the fact him looking the other way when McGwire and Canseco where juicing and then denying that he knew is funny as well. It becomes absurdly comical when he denies he knew something was up with McGwire in St. Louis. It's funny how my suspicion about Pujols' is not because of anything Pujols has done but is instead based totally on his manager.

It's safe to say I hate LaRussa more than I hate the Cardinals.

Agreed. I guess the baseballs are fine for the Cardinals this series. They must only be too slick when the Cardinals lose.

Phillips was dead on. LaRussa had to go cry to good ol' Walt Jocketty about it.

As much as I can't stand Dusty Baker, I would quit being a fan of this team if they hired LaRussa.

Not to mention the Cardinals getting their panties in a bunch whenever somebody admires a home run, yet one of the worst offenders whose name rhymes with Shmelbert Shmujols is on their team.

Rangers finally got to Mariano Rivera and win with a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th. First time in 32 games in Arlington that Rivera left with a loss.
