Tough to feel sorry for Marshall. They had that game and gave it away.

WVU just ripped Marshall's heart out like the bad guy in the Temple of Doom.

Ugh. When will defensive co-ordinators learn you can't hold onto a lead by playing passive like that

Now this is exciting football. Houston's offense is sweet.

Well, not pretty but I'll take it after the way we played for most of the game. The positive I would take away is that Geno Smith looked really poised under a lot of pass rush (I dunno if Marshall has a great pass rush or we have a terrible line or both) and pretty smooth running the two-minute offense. Hopefully, he stays healthy and continues to improve. If so, he should be pretty special in the next few years.
It is kind of cool also because two of his HS teammates (#10 Stedman Bailey, FR and #5 Ivan McCartney, FR) are also on the team (they are all out of Florida and were coached by a former WVU linebacker named Damon Codgell). |

The rough thing is that Marshall could have tacked on a FG midway through the 4th, but a freshman RB fumbled it away trying to get an extra yard.
I'd feel worse for them, but since Doc Holliday acted like such a d-bag on the way out, I don't really want him to do well and work his way up. |

I said that game scared me. Going into this game I would have taken a win no matter how ugly it looked. I'm happy, but it's going to take a couple hours for my heart to settle down.
This was Marshall's best chance at a win before the series is set to end. Doc Holliday got exactly what he deserved. He gave that game away. |

Sagarin's ratings have the Big 10 below the Big East since Miami, VT, and BC left. Since that's based on a 5 year period maybe the Big 10 should lose it's bid? I'm not going to defend the Big East this year. It's looking like a down year, but it's ridiculous to talk about taking away the BCS bid based on 1 bad start to the season. |

Ok, let's try this thing again this week and pretend last week's KU game didn't happen.
Good news: probably the only game I'll get to see on tv this year in Indy for KU SI

Dawg defense looks very very soft. If they don't man-up and learn to tackle, this is going to be an ugly season.

Nothing makes an offense look any better than facing the GT defense.
Tied at 7.

Murray converts a couple of 3rd downs thanks to an OL giving him lots of time. Still have to settle for a FG. 7-3.

I hope that's true, JIMGA. After scoring 3 against North Dakota State last week, losing 40-21 would be refreshing

I really do think it is easier going from a 3-4 to a 4-3 than vis-versa. Georgia defense seems to never be in position, and every tackle seems to be one-on-one. It took a fumbled snap to actually stop the Gamecock offense.

It's what happens when neither are playing in primetime (or in UGA's case, the CBS 330 game). edit to add: That probably sounded like a really obvious and/or smartass answer. What I was getting at was that GT has progressed enough to at least get on TV, while UGA has regressed enough in the pecking order to no longer get as many premium timeslots.

The shocking thing to me was to see how that happened. USF went 96 yards in a drive that lasted 10 minutes.

Which is weird for this game. The Gamecock game most of the time is either the 3:30 or like 8:30 game. A warning to the SEC: This Lattimore kid looks like a bruiser. Good enough to make the Visored-one run twice as often as pass so far. |

Couple Big 10 teams struggling with FCS schools. Purdue just took a 14-7 lead going into the half against Western Illinois. And South Dakota is sort of dominating Minnesota 21-10. I also have a sneaky feeling that Southern Illinois is going to give Illinois fits tonight.
The bottom of the Big 10 is really bad. |

17-14 GT with about 30 secs left in the half.
edit: SC leads UGA 14-3 at the half.

Gotta say I'm pretty happy with KU's first half. They have to play better in the 2nd half to actually win the game, but I was in full-on panic mode after last week

Not sure you can really say that. Yeah, the defense hasn't been as dominant as last year, but last week they gave up 4 yards rushing, forced 4 turnovers and gave up what amounted to 6 points. (the offense gave up the other six) Today they gave up that really long drive and then nothing else. They also had an INT to set up the TD that tied the game. I think it's clearly the offense that isn't up to SEC standards now and if it doesn't get fixed, Florida is going to have a LONG year in conference. |
