"Pat The Bat" is awesome. He's quickly becoming a huge fan favorite in SF.

I'm sure the ladies love him too!

I still root for Pat...big part of the 2008 team.

Buster Fucking Posey. I still think Heyward is the rookie of the year, but damn Posey is making a case. Where are all the idiots in the SF media talking about dumping a "proven veteran" like Molina?

+1

I think most Phillies fans would agree, which is interesting because he took a ton of heat before the championship run.

Because the Phills won 2 of the 3 games of that series, did so by a combined 20-2 score, and everyone knows that the Jays traditionally have a 10-run advantage per game at their home stadium.

Duh.

On top of that, their fans. Week 3 of this years season on KNBR: "The Giants need to fire Bochy", "The Giants are going nowhere with Bochy running the team", "I can't believe that we haven't won every single game this year". I hope every single one of those callers does not get to watch a single game from this point on.

My vote is for Posey for ROY.

I still think they are winning in spite of Bochy - his veteran fetish (playing Molina over Posey at C?, playing Guillen all the time? screwing over Nate and Bowker after 10 AB's each while giving Rowand 3 months to suck?) is absurd, but he has done a great job handling the pen - the guy is a little too "old school" for my liking. And Sabean - shit, the 4 of the 5 highest paid players on the Giants may be the most useless ones - Zito, Rowand, Renteria, DeRosa are being paid $45M this year.

Giants are playing fan-fucking-tastic if you ask me. The bottom line is they are winning. Everything else falls bay the wayside when you win.

Dola - For the month of September the Giants lead the majors in pitching, and lead the NL in home runs.

I was supposed to have a first date with a girl tomorrow night, when I suggested we go to a bar, her response was "As long as we go somewhere we can watch the Giants game." I'm trying to find enough money to buy a ring by tomorrow night.

As an update, I've scored tickets for tonight's game. So my first date with this girl will be in the left field bleachers of AT&T Park.

Should be a good night

Clearly they never had the weather for it, but I was assuming the Sox would try to sneak in a 5-6 inning game so they didn't need to go through the awkward rescheduling, but despite their best delaying tactics (really, you're pushing the opening pitch past 10pm? we know about the blue laws that make you cut it off by 1:00am, and there's no way a Sox/Yanks game is less than 3 hours unless Wakefield is on the mound) it wasn't to be. If any Boston folk want to go tonight for the makeup, 2 box tix 3rd base side (slightly obstructed, under the upper deck). It's a 9:00pm start due to the 4:00pm Fox game. Hit me up with a PM or on the facebook.

It would be quite ironic if Zito was the one to get them into the post season.

For a $126M, one goddamn useful win would be nice. Not that I want him in any post-season rotation anyway.

I want this playoff scenario like whoa:

If the Padres sweep the Giants, and the Braves win just one game against the Phillies, all three teams will finish with identical 91-71 records and two playoff games will be required to determine the postseason field. The Giants and Padres would play on Monday in San Diego to determine the NL West winner, and the loser would travel to Atlanta to play the Braves on Tuesday to decide the wild card.

If the Giants can get their act together and make the playoffs. I do not want to see Zito come anywhere near a pitching mound.

I'm trying to get my head around the playoff possibilites. If Pads and Braves win, what then? If both lose, one game playoff for the wild card?

If Pads and Braves win, Monday is SF @ SD for the west. Loser plays @ ATL on Tuesday for the wildcard. If the Braves lose, there is no NL West playoff, Pads would win it via h2h record.

If both Padres and braves lose then they have wild card playoff game in Atlanta and Giants win NL West.

So you have four options:

A) Giants win, Braves Lose - Braves out, Giants 2 seed, Padres WC - SD @ Phi, Cin @ SF

B) Giants win, Braves Win - SD @ Atl for WC, Giants 2 seed, SD/Cin @ Phi, Cin/Atl @ SF

C) Giants Lose, Braves Lose - SD 2 seed, Giants WC - SF @ Phi, Cin @ SD

D) Giants Lose, Braves Win - SF @ SD for 2 seed, loser @ Atl for WC - SF/SD/Cin @ Phi, Cin/Atl @ SD/SF

Ok, I need some opinions here. I believe I spotted an egregious karmic failure on the part of the AT&T Park staff, but I may just be ridiculous. I was at the game Friday night, and as Heath Bell took the mound to throw his warm-up pitches before the ninth inning (he had already pitched in the 8th for a few batters), my spine crawled as "Hell's Bells" came over the PA while a Padre closer was warming up.

The staff had put together a montage on the Jumbotron to amp up the fans, and the song was "Hell's Bells". Seeing as how that was Trevor Hoffman's entrance music...meh, I really didn't like it. Thoughts?

Bell is Trevor's heir but I hope he doesn't do what Trevor did in the finale and one-game playoff of 2007. Bell's arm is shot right now.

I don't know about the karmic implications of it, but I agree that I don't like it. It's awfully lazy on the part of the support staff (likely a clueless intern/newb) and disrespectful IMO to the legacy of Hoffman.

As a baseball fan, I want to see the Pads and Braves both win tomorrow then let the chips fall where they may. If the regular season can extend 2 more days than I'm happy

NEVER!

Without that mid-season boost of extra home time, the Phills are a .500 team at best.

I was thinking maybe during the exchange of lineup cards (which, IIRC, he did at least once in his career).
