Web hosting options?
I have been looking into starting up a website again. I have been away from doing that for a while and am trying to find a good place to host a site. Not sure how much space I would need as of yet so I would like to be able to change plans at some point without it being a major undertaking.
I remember having a site before and that it wasn't too much for a year, plus name registration and with that I got a crap load of extras (such as analytical packages) but every place that I have looked at so far use those features as the add ons that suddenly make the "incredible" rate much more expensive. Go Daddy seems guilty of that big time. The only plus aboutGo Daddy seems to be that it is easier to see what you are getting. Other sites seem to only mention "key features". Any recommendations?

I use Host Gator. 10 bucks per month, unlimited domains, unlimited email and all the extra goodies you could want.

I use dreamhost.com. Their prices are hard to beat.

Hurricane Electric (he.net) is also dirt cheap, and rock solid.

Hostgator and namecheap both did me well.

Another vote for Dreamhost. If you want I can send you a referral that will give you a bit of discount.

Somewhat related to hosting, seeing if anyone has an opinion...
I'm wanting to get my own website setup and start pushing business that way. At this point, I don't have oodles of time to devote to getting a site up from scratch, finding a host, setting up the software, etc, etc. Any opinion of all in one type services like Yahoo Merchant, BigCommerce, Prostores? I'd hate to pay someone $2K for website setup (plus hosting and whatever other non-related financial processing fees there might be) and then nothing works out over 12-18 months and find it more feasible to expand the $40 per month. (plus transaction fees of around 1% which would be more expensive in the long term, but cheaper in the front end)

Ahh, I missed this.. Well, it depends on your goals, what you are trying to accomplish and how do you want to get there. All of the CMS based stores have their pro's and cons'...hell, even my company does...But personally, if you are willing to put forth the cost for one of the CMS solutions it definitely speeds up the process...you still have to put forth the time and effort for the development and marketing...mainly the marketing, and now it's more than just ensuring your page is optimized...it's content and link building that is key. I have a spreadsheet somewhere, where I have done a competitive analysis and it's pretty crazy..
