Error Connecting to Xbox Live

For the 3rd day in a row, my kids have had an issue with their xbox360 connecting to Live. When I run it through the Test, it sees my server, connects to the internet, but fails to connect with Live. When I get home from work, I power cycle the cable modem and retest their xbox with mixed results. Last night, they played with no trouble. This afternoon, no Live connection again.

Their xbox is connected wirelessly (using Microsoft wireless usb connection). There has been no change to their xbox or our server. I have 2 Tivos also connected wirelessly to the server with no connection issues.

My xbox is wired into our server and I have had no troubles connecting to Live this week.

We have had no issues at all with their connection for 4+ months. Now all of a sudden it's a problem. Any suggestion on what else could be causing this error specifically to the Live service itself?

Dola: A little more research shows there are Error Status Codes that may point to a specific problem. But I don't know where to look for the error codes?

I had a similar type issue. Turned out that one of the USB ports was bad. I switched to the port in the front and the issues disappeared.

I believe they should be the ring of lights on the front. There are error codes other than death.

Thanks for the suggestion! That worked with no drops/lag last night. Real test will be this afternoon...

FYI,

In case anyone has the same problem, for the newest Xbox live update, I was having issues. For me, logging into my account online and accepting the new user terms seemed to correct the issue.
