Remember remember the fifth of November..
Remember remember the fifth of November.. the gunpowder treason and plot.. but I see no reason why the gunpowder treason should ever be forgot.
Damn, I love Natalie Portman's voice when she says that. Great movie, too, though I was skeptical of hearing all the hype, which is why it'd sat untouched on my shelf for umpteen years.

In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition.
The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it's my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V.

She's pretty hot in person too!
I've never seen this movie the whole way though, I always catch it about a third or a fourth of the way in. |

I don't know what it is about the Wachowskis, but their movies are eminently rewatchable for me. I've seen the Matrix and V for Vendetta about 8000 times, it feels like.

Pretty good example of an adaption done well. They didn't try to stick like glue to the original, but created their own take on it, which had value of its own.

Yup, this is one I really like, too.
I hadn't been a huge Natalie Portman fan (as a man, I mean), but she looks fantastic in this one before she shaves her head. After that, sorry, I'm not into bald chicks.

I enjoyed the film in and of itself, but I understand the criticism that the filmmakers tilted the right/wrong balance too far in favor of V. Apparently, the comic places V at the far end of the spectrum as a total anarchist rather than a freedom fighter, and the fascists are shown much more human, giving the reader a much better look at the pros and cons of the two extremes.
And I just realized that in other films the two stars play other "Smiths" that are role reversals from what they play in this film.

I have no idea what movie you're talking about, but I like Natalie Portman's ass when she says a line.

There some real problems with jungles though, they smell, they're dirty and they can contain any number of diseases, let alone bugs.
I prefer the smooth, cleared land approach. |

I can't believe this ditty is so well remembered when its rhythm is so half-assedly constructed. It ends on "should ever be forgot" which completely breaks the scansion and sounds wrong. Quote:
I still cringe when I read or hear this. What annoying overly-contrived writing. Aside from that the movie was tolerable if not worth watching. |

A mixed crowd of male and female friends during college would get decked out year, go to a dive bar and hang out on the 5th of November each year. Then we'd go in the back of the place and burn an effigy.
It was a pretty funny tradition. |

I had to look up that the movie was "V for Vendetta" since everybody seems to want to keep that shit a secret.
