That's a rather frustrating record for Martinez, considering that ERA and our offense.

I had Havana as the top rated team in the CL in my personal spring notes. So I'm not sure I agree with you here

Hunt Reaches 2500
Tuesday, August 14th, 2040: What a day for Curt Hunt. The 39-year-old Ann Arbor first baseman reached the 2500-hit mark today and the Wolverines whipped the Maricopa Rattlers 5-4.

Hunt told reporters, "It's good to finally get it. The closer you get to 2500, the harder it is to get there. Now the pressure is off and I can go back to just playing ball."

He went 1 for 6 in the game to reach the milestone.

Hunt has a career .283 average with 2500 hits, including 463 doubles, 59 triples and 393 homers, collected 1575 RBIs, scored 1448 runs and compiled a .366 OBP.

"It was a distraction," Pruvost said of his 300th home run, "I'm happy it's over. I just wish I'd been able to make a difference in the outcome today."

Lifetime Pruvost is batting .310 with 1865 hits, 300 home runs, 1142 runs scored and 1116 RBIs.

Steele Hitless, Streak Ends at 30
Wednesday, August 29th, 2040: The Portland Axemen got more than a 8-7 victory over Cleveland today at The Beaver Den. They put an end to Clay Steele's 30-game hitting spree by holding him without a hit in 1 at-bat. But it was no big deal to the Naps right fielder.

Steele seemed to feel more for his team than himself.

"I had some great looks at some pitches that I should have hit. I missed some that I shouldn't have swung at. All in all, I wasn't much help with the bat today."

Thus far in 2040 Steele is hitting .346 with 4 home runs, 53 RBIs, 75 runs scored and has compiled a .380 OBP.

Yeah, I saw that. I wasn't sure what to make of it. Your ratings system properly gave my SPs an "F" rating, and I have never seen a season where a properly designated "F" rotation pitched well enough to get an otherwise solid team to the playoffs. Starting pitching is usually just so key.

Of course, two of my starters actually made the All Star team and neither one is my supposed ace, so that probably explains it.

Your starting pitching has been better than I expected, but the strength of your team is easily your hitting. Your team OPS is nearly 30 points higher than the 2nd team in the CL

Looks like the right breaks then. I knew the offense would still be good, and probably the best in the league; even as good as Castillo is, he doesn't remove that much from the lineup. But I didn't think it would be that much better than the rest of the league.

But you have to compare it too. You might not have the best team you've ever had, but it's quite arguably the best team in our league right now. And the places where your team is strong, other contenders are weak.

Okamoto Socks 400th HR
Saturday, September 15th, 2040: The St Louis Hops had something to celebrate today even though they dropped a 8-7 decision to Oshawa. The reason -- the splendid slugger Makoto Okamoto hit his 400th career homer in today's contest at Molson Stadium.

"I'm fortunate to be here," Okamoto told the media after the game. "The Hops have a classy organization and some great fans. Homer #400 was for them."

In 2087 games, Okamoto is a lifetime .276 hitter. He has knocked in 1510 runs, scored 1289 times, hit 400 home runs, walked 617 times and has an on-base percentage of .325.

Congratulations to the playoff participants. Definitely feeling a little disappointed with the Beach Boys' season. I didn't expect to be at the top, but I certainly didn't see us at the very bottom either. O well, there's always next week!

Glad to be back. Not sure I'll actually go far this team--I would presume the RL is much stronger than the CL this season--but my team will be there to hopefully represent well.

Good luck to the other playoff teams.

Yay playoffs. Although that beeping sound you heard? That was us backing in. 3 straight losses with Ann Arbor winning 6 straight put us dangerously close to not making it. I'm not sure our stay will be long, especially considering we're built offense first, and I'm pretty sure New York has some really good pitching.

The new file is up, but the site is having some kinds of issues right now. So maybe wait a little while to try to get it. The host has sent me notice that this weekend they will be doing network upgrades to try to resolve some of the slow response we've seen lately.

I'll get the yearly FOOL awards up in a little bit.

Congrats to the playoff teams. I wasnt sure we would be able to compete with 2 young guys being back up in the SP lineup but they helped us out in the end.

I just hope Plantana can play as well in the playoffs as they did the last couple of months. I just hope we can win one more game against Havana this year than we did last year.

Grats to the playoff teams!

With the young prospects Rattlers has plus another #1 pick - they could be a very exciting team to watch in the next couple years.
