Las Vegas, Waikiki, Spring and Ann arbor are all mathematically still alive.

Las Vegas plays 3 games at home vs Spring
Ann Arbor plays 3 games at home vs Cleveland
Waikiki plays 3 games @ New York.

If Las Vegas wins one single game, they clinch the playoff spot.

If Spring sweeps Las vegas, then Las Vegas and Spring end the season tied (as well as either Ann Arbor or Waikiki if they also sweep).

Rin winning the Stone Statue Award is puzzling. I guess I don't have a clue on finduing good defensive players because I drafted him with the thought that he could hit some and be a good defender.

Infield Range: 10

Fielding awards are as much or even more depending on pitching staffs as the players ratings.

A team with all right handed pitchers (so facing mostly left handed hitters who tend to pull) with low groundball to flyball ratio's or high strikeout skill will lead to even Ozzie Smith winning the stone statue award!

Because we can't actually SEE how much ground he covers, we can only base range on fielding stats which are codependent on pitchers.

I think I once won 7 gold gloves in one season with Baltimore...it wasn't because they were all amazing fielders, it was more because my pitching staff never struck a sole out causing my fielders to have SO much action in the field that they looked good stats wise.

Well at least we made it interesting! It would have been really nice to finally get back to the playoffs, but I'm still happy with 3rd place. Hopefully we can improve on this showing next week

So is the secret to Londons pitching staff.......Center Fielders? 3 starters and the 4th highest with GS is a CF and at least two other guys with a lot of pitching are CF........

Aquino had 184 games played....Had a nice year with the bat AND started 37 games at pitcher. He wasnt so effective as a pitcher but Im not sure how the heck they pulled that one off.

I had 3 pitchers that played on both sides of the ball this year.

Aquino (he was 50% spot starter...don't know how he got the most starts, and the backup LF and RF with 50% at each position)
Thompson (MR, platoon vs lefties RFer),
Brown (setup man, 2nd string 1B)

I love the guys who go both ways (get your mind out of the gutter) as it is almost like playing with a 26 or 27 man roster. This then let's me add bonus players like a designated pinch runner, or a few more guys to platoon. This year it allowed me to have 13 pitchers...which I needed for my experiment in having no designated 4th starter, but two spot startes at 50% each (it failed...one guy had 40 starts, the other 8)

Aquino was a failed experiment, as I never tried it with a starter before.
He hit .313 with 96 rbi's in 485 ab
He was 1-9 with a 6.20era in 114 innings in 40 starts. Obviously the fatigue was too much to do this with a starter.

Thompson- .297 in 222abs, 9-1 3.04era in 71IP

Brown- Only 61 AB's as my backup 1B gets no action this year and he hit poorly...but in the past he has had as much as 140ab's hitting .374 with a 3.09era in 50 IP

Alan, is that the biggest one year turnaround in terms of wins from one year to the next? (Speaking of Maricopa)

Off the top of my head, I know London had a bigger turnaround between 1964-1965. Might be others as well. I don't have anything scripted to look for that I don't think. (If I do, I'm not sure where that .php file is right now). So I can't give the definite answer for biggest turnaround ever right now

Going through the process of trying to figure out what went wrong....

It was probably switching back to a 5-man rotation, to be honest. After Rea and Cox and Nunez, my 4 and 5 guys were below league average. Spreading out the starts probably cost me a few games.

Plus Olvera hit .204 (and won an award for it!), Kneeland cratered to a .209 and NC Kim never got it together even though he was just playing against lefties (his strength).

Doesn't seem to be the defense, thankfully.

Very disappointed with the Naps this season. Had higher expectations then a 73 win - 7th place finish. Oh well.... good luck to the teams who made the Friday session. I'm rooting for the Rattlers this year - nice young team they have there.
