FOOL-X: Official Poll: Increase Pitcher Development Speed?
There has been a long (time and length) discussion regarding pitcher development speed in OOTP11. This has been primarily to do with changes to the OOTP11 engine that may or may not have made our settings that we have used for years more "obsolete". The concern is that the lower development speed, while giving a proper aging arc to a pitcher's career might be stunting the ability for some pitchers to properly develop all of their ratings.
A yes vote to this poll would move our settings for ONLY pitching development speed back up to the OOTP11 default of 1.00 A no vote to this poll would leave everything unchanged and as is. With increased development speed, we likely are to see the following changes: - A small decrease in the average age that a pitcher initially hits his peak. Where a pitcher currently might not peak until he's 27, with this change you might start seeing the average come closer to 26. - Due to the earlier development of talent, it will increase the number of competent pitchers available to teams slightly. - Even though pitchers won't age out any faster, and should still be roughly the same in their mid or late 30s as they are now, some might now be passed up in rotations for younger pitchers, causing a pitcher's career to end slightly earlier and before they fully collapse ratings wise. |

YES
I think this is HUGE!!!!!!!! I'd honestly like to try something before we get to OOTP12 for FOOL. I ask for everyone to also please remember that if it doesn't work out I am sure Alan would be willing to change it back if need be. Lets try something.

I voted no because to me the stats are more important then the ratings, and we do not have an issue with outstanding walk totals.
I'm concerned about a deadball era. I don't know if control effects more then just walks. What if it also determines the frequency of hanging a breaking ball, or throwing one right down the middle? With less of those instances along with a decrease in walks, offensive totals could drop....I really don't know what could be effected. But the way I see it, the stats are good now, so why risk it? I am not opposed to the change though. I will happily accept the votes outcome.

I don't have strong feelings on this so I voted to stick with the devil we know. That being said, I have no problems trying out something a little different.

It's been so long since we've had a poll...it takes me back to the 'glory' years when every week there was some make or break desicion to be made...so much so that we needed a committee with much debate and arguing...anyone miss those days? Anyone......anyone....
Maybe we have better owners now, or maybe we are just older and more mature but it is nice to identify a problem, research it, propose a solution, and vote on it without anyone getting their ginch in a wad.

I think its more a case of us having run almost 200 seasons in one league and almost 100 seasons in another league in this format. Most of us like it the way it is (or close enough that its not worth messing with). Only time things come up is when stuff changes from version to version (like player development speed) that we have conversations on this. |

Yeah, and the peace doesn't have anything at all to do with Alan. *is being VERY sarcastic* Alan handles everything. What could we possibly have to complain about? Though if anyone misses the drama, I'd be happy to make up some illegitimate wrongs for us to fight about! |

Also, I know I could have voted at any point today but I am usually the last one to really understand how these things will affect the leagues so I like to read the boards and hear all of your opinions before making a more informed decision. I'm not ignoring this poll!

I voted yes. As others have said.....things can always be tweeked if it makes pitchers too good with their development

Not to be a bother but do we know when this will be put into effect?

I will announce it in the playoff thread so people don't mention it, but it goes into effect Monday morning prior to the sim (just in case it impacts anyone during the offseason sims) |
