different song quote contest?
Someone emailed me a MS Word document with approx. 200 1-line song quotes from 1970s songs and another of 1980s songs. If anyone is interested, I don't know how to upload....
Warning: these lists will drive you insane. |

Sure thing. I'll throw out 15-20 at a time b/c it works better in mass and my board frequency is not high:
1. Can music save your mortal soul? 2. He got a 32 gun in his pocket for fun. He got a razor in his shoe. 3. Who's the black private dick that's a sex machine to all the chicks? 4. 'Cause we're living in a world of fools breaking us down. 5. And when the broken hearted people living in the world agree. 6. Every time I thought I'd got it made it seemed the taste was not so sweet. 7. You can change your telephone number, and you can change your address too. But you can’t stop me from loving you. 8. I believe we can reach the morning light. Fly me high through the starry skies, maybe to an astral plane. 9. Oh oh catch that buzz. 10. Didn't I, didn't I, didn't I see you cryin'? 11. We never got it off on that revolution stuff. 12. I have found with you like a rose under the April snow. 13. So he pawned all his hopes and he even sold his old car. Bought a one way ticket to the life he once knew. 14. You know she was a dancer. She moved better on wine. 15. Put out the fire and don’t look past my shoulder. 16. It's hard to leave when you can't find the door. 17. Holding hands, making all kinds of plans while the jukebox plays our favorite song. 18. I had to find the passage back to the place I was before. 19. You know I've seen a lot of what the world can do, and it's breaking my heart in two. 20. Keep your head together and call my name out loud. |

I'll post more at a time:
21. And you, of tender years can't know the fears that your elders grew by. 22. I had some dreams they were clouds in my coffee. 23. Here's what we call our golden rule. Have faith in you and the things you do. 24. One of us is changing, or maybe we've stopped trying. 25. And whatever is that he got up his sleeve, I hope it isn't contagious. 26. Mighty mighty just lettin' it all hang out. 27. They catch a cab to his high rise apartment. At last he can tell her exactly what his heart meant. 28. I woke last night to the sound of thunder. 29. I'm gonna dance the night away. 30. Don't know the reason that I stayed here all season, with nothing to show but this brand new tattoo. 31. Your head is humming and it won't go, in case you don't know. 32. I found the simple life ain't so simple when I jumped out on that road. 33. It's an ancient Chineese art and everybody knew their part. From a feint into a slip, and kicking from the hip. 34. Where the New York City winters aren't bleeding me. 35. I lost myself in a familiar song. I closed my eyes and I slipped away. 36. 'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain. 37. Some happy some sad. I think of childhood friends and the dreams we had. 38. Gonna wrap my arms around you, hold you close to me. Oh, babe I wanna taste your lips, I wanna fill your fantasy. 39. You can sell your paintings on the sidewalk by a cafe where I hope to be workin' soon. 40. Softly she breathes and I close my eyes sharing our love under stormy skies. 41. There ain't no danger we can go to far. We start believing now that we can be what we are. 42. But I tell myself that I was doin' all right. There's nothin' left to do at night. 43. And now you're back from outer space. 44. Now your mama won't like it when she finds out that her girl is out at night street talkin', street walkin'. 45. I don't know where I'll be tomorrow. 46. Sneaking out the back door to hang out with those hoodlum friends of mine. 47. Yesterday it seemed to me my life was nothing more than wasting time but here today you slowly changed my mind. 48. You're the right kind of sinner, to release my inner fantasy. 49. Open your eyes and look at the day. You'll see things in a different way. 50. I hear her voice, in the mornin' hour she calls me, radio reminds me of my home far away. 51. Running around as you do with your head up in the clouds, I was like you. 52. I don't want clever conversation. I never want to work that hard. 53. Have you heard about the new dance craze? Listen to us, I'm sure you'll be amazed. 54. It'll take you a couple of vodka and tonics to set you on your feet again. 55. Sometimes I wish that I could stop you from talking when I hear the silly things that you say. 56. The fascist regime. They made you a moron. Potential H-bomb. 57. Love, Lord above, now you're tryin' to trick me in love. 58. I know my mind is made up, so put away your make up. 59. Say something once, why say it again? 60. You don't need to be coy, Roy. 61. I've been to Hollywood, I've been to Redwood. 62. In sixty-nine I was twenty-one and I called the road my own. 63. And I was born in the back seat of a Greyhound bus. 64. I can't understand why she walks like a woman and talks like a man. 65. The calliope crashed to the ground. 66. Trouble with you is the trouble with me, got two good eyes but you still don't see. 67. Are you a lucky little lady in The City of Light? 68. With yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there. 69. Why do birds suddenly appear every time you are near? 70. Are you gatherin' up the tears, have you had enough of mine. 71. As he rises to her apology , anybody else would surely know. 72. I wish I've never met you, girl, you'll never come again. 73. You are a genie, and all I ask for is your smile each time I rub the lamp. 74. I've had enough of the falseness of a worn out relation. Enough of the jealousy and the intoleration. 75. It's not in the way you look or the things that you say that you'll do. 76. Don't hang on, nothing last forever but the earth and sky. 77. I begin to think I understand, anywhere we are, you and I have always been, ever and ever. 78. But baby can't be broken 'cause you see she had the finest teacher-that was me-I told 'er. 79. Busted flat in Baton Rouge, waiting for a train and I's feeling nearly as faded as my jeans. 80. And the soul, afraid of dyin', that never learns to live. 81. Like a fool, I fell in love with you, Turned my whole world upside down. 82. Lord Almighty, I feel my temperature rising. 83. Young and beautiful, but someday your looks'll be gone. When the others turn you off, who'll be turnin' you on. 84. See the paper lying on the sidewalk. A little music from the house next door. 85. We could go walking through a windy park, or take a drive along the beach. Or stay at home and watch t.v. 86. I broke a heart, that's gentle and true. Yes, I broke a heart over someone like you. 87. Tell me you love me and don't let me cry. Say anything but don't say goodbye. 88. But there were planes to catch and bills to pay. 89. Oh they say she died one winter when there came a chilling frost. 90. Then I can't help but have my suspicions 'cause I ain't quite as dumb as I seem. 91. Is he alive or dead? Has he thoughts within his head? 92. They burned down the gambling house. It died with an awful sound. 93. I like the way ya make me about you baby. Want the whole wide world to see. 94. You better shape up, 'cause I need a man, and my heart is set on you. 95. Don't always know what I'm talkin' about. Feels like I'm livin in the middle of doubt. 96. I had a blues man in back, and a beautician at the wheel. 97. So I handed him my bottle, and he drank down my last swallow. Then he bummed a cigarette and asked me for a light. 98. Does your conscience bother you, tell the truth. 99. There's one thing that I don't understand, you keep on telling me I ain't your kind of man. 100. And I dream of the things I'll do with a subway token and a dollar tucked inside my shoe. |
