Sorry I'm late, but I agree with the others about a 1-year honeymoon period. I would also like to view any new job offers and decide on which job to take, if any. However, I know that I'm not in the forums every day, so if it makes the dynasty go faster, if I don't reply, you can just keep me at Wichita South or whatever that works.

Thanks for the responses guys. I wouldn't be too worried bbgunn, as I'm currently working 3 jobs so my time to do this dynasty is going to be limited to maybe getting on the forums once or twice a week. So you will probably have plenty of time to respond. But, before you think about getting any job offers, you have to get Wichita South to a winning record. And remember, you and Korme have had your 1 year honeymoon period, so now you gotta get the job done.

GWAL Teams in Season Tournaments
One thing I'm going to do in these reports is focus on when GWAL schools are playing in a preseason or midseason tournament. For right now, I will only do it for the GWAL schools, and any school that Rudy, Deacon, Korme, or Kuji are coaching at. In the future I may expand that. So let's take a look at which GWAL schools were invited to a tournament. Wichita Southeast will play in the Coaches Invitational as the 10th seed, taking on North Texas in their first game. Bishop Carroll will play in the San Juan Classic as the 6th seed, taking on Houston in their first game. Wichita Heights was invited to the Tennessee Challenege as the 3rd seed. It's only a 4 team tournament, and they will take on Manhattan in the first round. No other GWAL teams were invited to a tournament. I will be focusing on these tournaments, as I love a tournament atmosphere, so I will be rooting on our schools to the fullest. Last edited by collegesportsfanms : 09-17-2011 at 12:50 AM. |

Tournaments
Wichita Southeast got hammered by North Texas in the First Round of the Coaches Invitational. The final was 88-65. Wichita Heights won their first round game of the Tennessee Challenge, beating Manhattan 67-60. They then got hammered by Mercer, 79-47, in the championship game. Bishop Carroll upset Houston in their first round game of the San Juan Classic by a score of 65-63. In their semifinal game against Providence, they were handled 77-59. Then in the third place game, they beat BYU 70-65. Last edited by collegesportsfanms : 09-17-2011 at 01:19 AM. |

I am ecstatic this season as we enter conference play. I just found out our conference RPI was 12th. That means there are 22 conferences with RPI's lower than us. That is an outstanding number, and with good reason. Here's the standings as we enter conference play in the GWAL.
Code:
Having 3 teams in the top 100 of the RPI makes me giddy, and gives me hope that we could get more than just 1 team in postseason play this season. Wichita South really needs to pick it up, with the recruiting classes they've had lately, they should be doing better. Can't say enough about Wichita Northwest and Wichita North. |

Let's take a look at some former GWAL coaches and see how they are doing.
Shane Dreiling has led Central Michigan to a 9-2 start, but the record is a little misleading as they haven't really played anybody big. Marty Frankamp has led San Diego to a 7-4 record so far, with a big opening season win against Oklahoma, and a 73-67 win over our own Wichita Heights. Arkansas (Ryan Hujing) is 11-2 to start the season and ranked #15. N.C. State (Eddie Tate) is 8-2 to start the season but not ranked. |

Well we are halfway through the conference season now, and as expected, with conference play, things changed a little bit. Our conference RPI is now 15th, and we only have 2 teams in the top 100 of RPI.
Code:
I can't say enough about the season Wichita Northwest is having. They received 10 votes in the polls this past week, and look to be assured of a postseason berth. Then of course we've got the 2 consisent teams, Wichita Southeast and Bishop Carroll. I can't complain, as we've got 4 teams with winning records in the GWAL, and another 2 teams with .500 records. I'll take it. |

I have made a change to this dynasty report. I have turned conference prestige off, and turned on limited conference movement. The reasons for this are 2 fold. First, When one of the teams leaves the GWAL, I'll still be able to keep track of them in their new conference, so it'll add more to the dynasty report. Second, I think that teams that consistently run through their conference should be rewarded with the option to move to a bigger conference, and teams that just suck should be demoted, per say. I don't know how limited it really will be.
There are a couple disadvantages to this. It may be harder to fire coaches and hire coaches, because the really bad teams will be leaving the GWAL eventually anyways, and the really good teams will as well. However, I don't think there will be a lot of conference movement. The other thing is, for example, if Bishop Carroll gets promoted to the MAC, what do I do with Deacon Palmer? Do I keep him at Bishop Carroll and just report on him in his new conference? Or do I bring him in as the coach of the new GWAL team? I'll have to keep that in mind. Thoughts and comments appreciated as always. |

One of my goals has been completed. For the first time ever, the GWAL has a team ranked in the top 25. As of February 4th, 2014, Wichita Northwest is ranked #25 in the nation! What an accomplishment

Well the GWAL regular season is complete, and what a crazy season it was. At one point we had 6 teams with winning records in the GWAL. The end result wasn't quite so good, but I still have to call this the best regular season in GWAL history up to this point. Here's a look.
Code:
I'm a little dissapointed in Wichita North and Wichita West who both went on slides at the end of the regular season. Wichita East continues to improve, and in my opinion has a decent shot of making a postseason tournament. Let's see how it all pans out. |

2013 GWAL First Round
(8) Wichita North handles (9) Wichita Heights 74-58. This ends a season for Heights that has seen Bryan Chadwick on the hotseat for most of the year, and this finish may have sealed his fate. |

2013 GWAL Quarterfinals
(1) Wichita Northwest beat (8) Wichita North 76-42 (4) Wichita East beat (5) Wichita West 88-70 (3) Wichita Southeast beat (6) Kapaun Mt. Carmel 63-55 (2) Bishop Carroll beat (7) Wichita South 73-53 I'm surprised at how East handled West. And for the first time since the GWAL moved to the NCAA, we will NOT have a Southeast-Carroll championship, as this year they are playing in the semis. We will still have one of those teams in the final though. |

2013 GWAL Semifinals
(1) Wichita Northwest hammers (4) Wichita East 90-62 (2) Bishop Carroll controls (3) Wichita Southeast 85-71 So Bishop Carroll continues their postseason dominance of Wichita Southeast, and will be playing for their 4th straight GWAL Tournament title. Can Wichita Northwest end the streak and continue a great season? We'll find out. |

2013 GWAL Championship
(1) Wichita Northwest defeats (2) Bishop Carroll 75-71 Congrats to Mitch Linn who had an outstanding season, and will most likely be GWAL coach of the year. So finally a new team will be representing the GWAL in the NCAA Tournament. I fully expect Bishop Carroll and their RPI of 57 to see postseason play, maybe even an at-large berth in the NCAA. Wichita Southeast is iffy, but their RPI of 142 is much better than last years, so I think they'll get the CBI. Wichita East has an RPI of 122, so I can also see them sneaking into the postseason. Wouldn't it be cool if the GWAL got 1 team into each postseason tournament? |

Wichita Northwest gets the 13th seed in the NCAA Midwest Region, drawing 4th seed Florida St. in the first round, in which I think is a winnable game.
Again, I'm not happy. Bishop Carroll and Wichita Southeast both were invited to the CBI, which doesn't bother me, as that gives us 3 teams for sure in postseason, a far better cry from 1. What does bother me is the seedings. Bishop Carroll is seeded 7th and will take on 10th seed Stanford in their first round game. Wichita Southeast is seeded 2nd and will take on 15th seed UMass in the first round. That means if both Carroll and Southeast win, they'll play each other in the quarterfinals. I don't like that. Wichita East will be staying home, which I'm a little dissapointed in. I thought for sure their 122 RPI would be good enough to get them into a tournament. |

In non-GWAL news:
N.C. State (Eddie Tate) got the 9th seed in the NCAA tournament and will take on 8th seed Cornell in the first round. Shane Dreilings second year as Central Michigan head coach ended in disaster, as he finished 15-15 with no postseason. Arkansas (Ryan Hujing) got the 3rd seed in the NCAA Tournament and will take on 14th seed Rider in the first round. Marty Frankamp led San Diego to a 21-9 record and a 4th seed in the NIT, where they will take on 5th seed Oklahoma. Last edited by collegesportsfanms : 09-18-2011 at 04:42 PM. |

CBI First Round
(7) Bishop Carroll defeated (10) Stanford 64-55 (2) Wichita Southeast gets by (15) UMass 76-74, meaning we will have a Southeast-Carroll Quarterfinal. NIT Second Round (4) San Diego survives against (5) Oklahoma 67-66 NCAA First Round (3) Arkansas defeats (14) Rider 78-67 (9) N.C. State handles (8) Cornell 76-60 (13) Wichita Northwest gets hammered by (4) Florida St. 95-58. Ouch, guess I was wrong about that prediction. N.C. State's season comes to an end as they were hammered by (1) Washington 78-56. Arkansas keeps winning, getting by (6) Clemson 69-62. NIT Second Round San Diego hammers (1) Western Kentucky 90-56 CBI Second Round Wow, didn't see this one coming. Southeast hammered Bishop Carroll 76-47, winning their first postseason game against their rivals. Last edited by collegesportsfanms : 09-18-2011 at 04:43 PM. |

NCAA Sweet Sixteen Arkansas advances to the next round by beating (2) Texas A&M 86-78 NIT Round of 8 San Diego's season comes to and end as they are hammered by (4) Boston College 86-63. |

NCAA Elite Eight
Arkansas fell to (1) Virginia 68-63, ending their season. CBI Championship Series Southeast lost the series 2 games to 1. They won the first game 62-54, lost the second game 46-44, and dropped a heartbreaker on a buzzer beater in the final game 53-52. Still a good run and they represented the GWAL well. That's it for today, I need to rest before going to my third shift job. Tomorrow i'll wrap up all the postseason tournaments and get into some offseason stuff. Hope you all are enjoying. |

Wrapping up the other postseason tournaments:
In the NCAA Tournament, 3 of the 4 #1 seeds advanced to the final four, with Kentucky being the only non-number 1 seed. Virginia beat Kentucky 77-68, then Marquette beat Northwestern 68-63. In the National Championship, Virginia beat Marquette 89-82, making it 3 straight years an ACC school has won the national championship. As for the NIT, (1) Uconn defeated (5) Arizona State 84-79 in the first semifinal. Then in the second semi, (2) Boston College beat (7) South Carolina 77-71. In the NIT championship, Boston College won a low scoring battle 55-42 to win the NIT. And in the CIT, (1) Louisiana Tech beat (6) Manhattan 83-75 in the championship game. |

I really think these rankings are crap. We've got 4 teams in the GWAL with 3star recruits. I think Wichita South had a great class, with two 3 star recruits. This is a great recruiting year for the GWAL, well except for the bottom 4 teams. |

Forgot to mention the awards for the 2012-2013 season, so I'll slip them in now.
No big shock, as nobody was considered for a national award in the GWAL. Here are the league awards. Code:
No big surprise as Mitch Linn got coach of the year, and deservedly so. The all-GWAL team was dominanted by Wichita Northwest getting 4 of the 5 spots. wow. |

Wichita North got a facility upgrade
Wichita Northwest is getting a budget increase. Conference Movement No changes in the GWAL this season, and only 1 change overall. Buffalo and Princeton swap conferences. Buffalo to the Ivy League, Princeton to the MAC. I was hoping for a few more changes, but alas, not to be. |

For those of you that have coaches, are you still wanting to be involved? Just wanted to make sure I still had some interest peaked. lol

2014 Head Coach Evaluations
Bishop Carroll- Deacon Palmer -- He's led Bishop Carroll into the postseason twice since he came to Bishop Carroll, and I dont expect that to change. He's here until he doesn't want to be here anymore, or until he does a 180. Kapaun Mt. Carmel- Shane Kormelink -- Let's be honest, a 14-46 record in 2 years would see most coaches get their pink slip. But, Kapaun finished 6th in the league last season, a far cry from last place. I'm gonna keep him around for another year because he's got some talent on the roster this year and I want to see what he can do with it. Wichita East- James Cole -- What can I say about James? His teams continue to improve. Like Deacon, he's here until he either crashes and burns, or decides to leave. Wichita Heights- Bryan Chadwick -- This guy makes me pull my hair out. Absolutely ridiculous. Heights had a prestige drop of 3 after this past season, and Bryan had his worst record since he's been here. He's had chances, but he hasn't gotten it done. New coach at Wichita Heights next season. Wichita North- Rudy Arellano -- This guy is about as bad as Bryan is. The only thing saving Rudy this year is the fact that improved by 4 games in the non-conference portion of the season. But, if North has another fail of a conference season, Rudy may be gone. This is his last chance to turn it around. Wichita Northwest- Mitch Linn -- I told Mitch that he needed to build on the performance of Northwest 2 seasons ago, so what does he do? Not much other than win 25 games, get a top 25 ranking, become the first team other than Bishop Carroll to win the GWAL postseason tournament. Yea, I think his job is safe. Wichita South- Kuji Chagulia -- Well Kuji has been consistent, with 10-20 records in both his seasons. But I really think, despite what the recruiting rankings said, that Kuji had a great class this season. He's gonna get a chance to do something with it. Wichita Southeast- James Cordeiro -- While James isn't bringing in the recruits like I thought he would, Southeast was the last GWAL team playing in the postseason this year, 1 point away from winning the CIT for a second time. That's a credit to the coaching ability of James. His job is safe. Wichita West- Reggie Taylor -- I'm dissapointed. West took a step back this season, but most of it was due to a late season slide. I still think Reggie is a good coach, and I'm not gonna give up on him after 1 down year. His job is safe. So as of now I have 1 coach to hire. I've already made my decision, I don't even need to search for coaches. |

Wichita Heights has a new coach, and his name is Shannon Elliott. It's amazing to me, the guy has been unemployed for 2 seasons now and nobody has picked him up. With his 89 in recruiting and 81 in coaching offense, he would be a good pickup for any low prestige school. Let's just hope he can turn the Falcons around. He was an assistant at Washington, and I honestly don't see why they fired him.

I was going to track coaching movement across the NCAA, but I found it too hard, with the big schools hiring assistant coaches and what not, but I can tell you that none of our coaches made a move. None of the current GWAL head coaches got a job offer, and our former head coaches did not move either. So it was uneventful head coach movement period for current and former GWAL coaches.

Bishop Carroll gave Cornell a great run in the Coaches Invitational, but fell short, losing 83-79. Wichita West beat Air Force 79-72 in the First round of the GDS Tip-Off Tourney. Then the Pioneers proceeded to get hammered in the championship game, as Rider beat them 80-52. Wichita Southeast pulled the upset in the First Round of the Preseason NIT, beating Arkansas State 59-51. Then they played Boston College tough in the Quarterfinals, losing 70-58. Wichita South lost their First Round game in the Top of the Globe Invitiational, losing to South Alabama 81-67. They rebounded to win the consolation semifinal against Colorado State 56-45. Then they dropped the fifth place game to Yale, 57-46. |

Alright guys, new plan. As I progressed into this dynasty report I just wasn't happy where things were going. As a prestige 2 conference I watch our teams suffer loss after loss, so I'm going a different route. I'm going to make us a prestige 4 team, which is where I wanted us all along. We're going to come from NCAA Division 2, instead of NAIA. I'm going to leave things as they are as far as coaches go. I don't guarantee we'll have anymore success. As a prestige 4 conference we should. I will get to work on this if not tonight, then hopefully sometime tomorrow.
