Dola, guys an important reminder that can affect your future save game.

By default the database doesn't contain some players, competitions and teams names because license issues (IE German players and teams). You must download and install first one of the unfaking files found around, for example the one from sortitoutsi.

If you start a new game, you can't apply it later, happened to me in the past and had to use those fake names for the life of the savegame.

Never done the preload thing before last night. Does it mean that when the game goes live, those that preloaded will just need to run the .exe and proceed?

When it is released Steam will automatically start decrypting the files (or if Steam isn't running it will be decrypted the next time you run Steam. As soon as that's finished (can be fast or take a while depending on the game) you can run the .exe or launch through Steam.

anyone? I keep trying to download logos, but it's very confusing. I'm not very computer savoy and I have no idea what torrents and all this other stuff are. I just would like a basic file or two to download for logos. Trying to get ready for the release.

I don't have a new set downloaded at the moment, but if I get home early enough and get them downloaded I'll throw them in my dropbox or my box.net account for ya.

You can apply them after you start a savegame though, so it's not a huge issue if you don't have them at launch.

Would you mind putting the real names file in there as well, along with instructions for where to put the files before starting a new game?

Thanks for being such a huge help DT!

Time to block Deety's attempt to hijack the release thread:

BEFORE YOU START A NEW GAME, delete the fake files. THis enables the German national team, real names of japanese teams, etcetera:

Go into C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\football manager 2012\data\db\1200\lnc\all (if you installed via steam) and delete the .lnc files there

Yup. The "Fake" Files.

Basically, it's stuff that SI doesn't have the rights to, so they have to block off.. like a certain German Goalkeeper who tried to sue companies about his name appearing in computer games). The German and Japanese national teams (which have exclusive rights elsewhere), etcetera

They put it in anyway, but default to 'fake' files instead? Weird.

That way their database is accurate, and it's easy for people to fix should they want to.

Here's the Oliver Kahn story. Kinda interesting that he actually WON the lawsuit in Germany:

Oliver Kahn wins case against EA

Oliver Kahn wins case against EA
Computer simulation may no longer be sold

Hamburg (pte, Apr 29, 2003 17:56) - German star goalie Oliver
Kahn has won a lawsuit against computer games producer Electronic Arts
(EA) EA Games - Electronic Arts , accusing the company of illegally capitalising
on his image

A Hamburg court ruled that EA had included a figure that looked like Kahn
in its "FIFA Worldcup 2002" game without the goalkeeper's approval, as
reported today in Financial Times Deutschland (FTD).

Based on this ruling, the game may now no longer be distributed. While EA
Germany head Jens Uwe Intat has played down the importance of the ruling,
there may still be financial consequences for EA. Kahn's lawyer Matthias
Prinz reportedly said the star player was considering suing for
compensation in the millions.

Prinz has called the ruling groundbreaking, as Kahn is the first
professional football player to file a suit against his representation in
a computer game.

A total of 800 players from 40 countries are depicted in EA's FIFA
series, which is one of the company's best-selling products. According to
EA the older game is no longer being distributed and Kahn's virtual image
has been removed from the national team in the 2003 version. He will
still, however, appear as the goalie for FC Bayern Munich - a deal the EA
has brokered with the German Football League (Bundesliga).

EA has reacted calmly to the threat of compensation suit, as it intends
to pass the responsability on to the Federation of International Football
Professionals (Fifpro) FIFPro , from which it purchased
the rights to depict the players. It appears that the association sold
rights it never owned.

For those of you (like me) who are going to want the editor, it's a seperate download this year:

You need to download it seperatly through Steam. It can be found in the Tools section within steam. To get to it do the following

Open Steam -> Library and Change All Games to Tools. It will appear in this list.

I see everybody is playing and not posting Unfortunately I have to be up very early with a long day ahead before a weekend of playing FM.

Tonight I started unemployed and head to bed the new manager of Derby. I'd love to take the day off but just too much to do. At least it gives me plenty to think about tomorrow while at work.

I went straight to the editor. My early impressions are much the same as the demo, not a lot of changes but prettier.

Well I am certain the impressions will be favorable. This is the 4th version that Ive purchased and Ive yet to be disappointed.

I guess I am disappointed that its taking so long to download these pic packs and logos so I am just waiting it out to start in.

Alright, I simmed it to 2018 while at school and took over Arsenal in the beginning of April. I'm curious to see the youth program

I did the same. I know it's not exactly right, but I don't want to start my Arsenal dynasty with Wilshire out for 9 months. If I could wipe out all the injuries in one fell swoop, I would.
