Face-off Hockey 2011

Anybody have this or its previous incarnations and any opinions of it? Looking for a hockey game and this one is $20 for the next couple of days. Is it worth it?

Run away!

Picked this up hoping it would be something fun but it is dreadful.

First, the interface sucks just trying to even get a game started.

Then in game you can't even follow the flow as the game is going on which pretty much ruins and attempt to even get into the game.

I started up a game (after getting through that horrible process) and then tried it a couple times (went back a few times hoping I would find something different) but it isn't worth it IMHO.

dola: I'll add a third, even after getting the league created and started the interface from there is dreadful as well.

FaceOff Hockey is a continuing rebuild of a title that was left for dead. The engine is based on the boardgame, and is the most accurate, bar none.
You will need to know/understand the boardgame to play this version.
Brian has done an outstanding job keeping the title alive. The fans of this game are rabid hockey fans, they watch the games and follow the teams. They get input in player ratings, the community is amazing.
This version does not include career mode, it is as the original a single-season replay. Career mode is on the board to be done.
Oh and I offer the board game for free.

If your looking for the best text based hockey sim, I truly believe that is ActionPC Hockey by DKSports. It is NOT a career sim, but allows you to play seasons and produces realistic results. The great thing about the game is you can buy and try for 30-days and return if not happy.

I'll take a look at Action PC Hockey, but no career mode is a big turn off.

Around this time next year, there should be a new career hockey sim by the makers of Out of the Park Baseball....stay tuned.

However, I think you should try ActionPC is your a hockey fan...really strong game.

Actually the OOTP game isn't from Markus or Andreas. Its from Sebastian and Malle.

Pretty much what EagleFan said. I still play EHM2007 even though it isn't supported anymore by SI Games. There is a great fanbase and group of modders at The Blue Line as well. Easily the best hockey sim I have ever played. Oh, and I am looking forward to the OOTP version as well.
