DDS:CB2 vs FBCB

I'm looking to scratch my college basketball itch so its time to finally buy one. Which one is easier to get into? More user friendly?

IMO...DDS is probably easier to get into. FBCB2010 is the better game.

I can't really compare the two, but I'll say this - I bought FBCB2 around November of 2010, and I've been playing it more or less continuously since then.

As somebody who has never played DDS this surprises me. Not saying you're wrong, obviously, that just surprised me. FBCB is just incredible in its simplicity. I don't mean to say it's easy, but the game is streamlined so damn well. FBCB is just so damn addictive. Of all the text sim games I've played it's by far the worst when it comes to staying up late just to.. finish recruiting, okay maybe I'll do a few games to see how this team is... oh shit, are they really this good? Maybe I'll go till conferance play...

The game is incredible and it's no small part to the pure commitment by the developer.

DDS is a deeper (especially in recruiting), more time intensive game that will make you connected with your team. It plays slower and is more immersive on the micro level.

FBCB is one of the most streamlined text sims in existence and gives you a scope of the rise and fall of programs and a sense of college basketball's overall history on the macro level. However, I never see the players as players or feel an emotional connection to them.

So basically it all depends on the type of experience you're looking for. If you prefer the micro level experience and getting to know your team, I'd go with DDS. If you prefer the macro level and the overall sweep of the national scene, I'd go with FBCB.

I think DDS is more ambitious in terms of look, feel and depth, but I also find it to be pretty buggy. FCB is more of a pick up and play game, but it works better.

I still play both, in a way I'd LIKE to enjoy DDS more but I would say that FCB is the better game.

The customizability of FBCB makes it pretty awesome. I have universes for 2012, 2011, 1990, 1974, 1938, Division II, etc. all sitting on my PC, ready to be played.

Did you say 1990? Would you be willing to share that one? Something with the Great Midwest would be sweet, but I can always add that myself.

Not my work, and it's zipped as a leaguefile rather than the default files of teams.csv and conf.csv. I'll ask the creator (who runs the IAA-FBCB online league, as a little plug) if he has those files to share for convenience's sake.

Two really good games, I play DDS when I want a deeper experience and as Izulde said more immersion and FBCB when I want to go at a faster pace.

Basically DDS when I am in a coaching mood and FBCB when I want to just be the AD and let the computer handle the in game stuff (though I do still do all the recruiting)

Since you mentioned in game coaching, what game would you say makes you feel that your in game coaching actually makes a difference in the outcome of the games?

For me I would have to say DDS, since you can set up custom plays and call plays on the fly.
