Sports Illustrated - Ultimate Soccer Draft

I thought this might interest a few of you - SI has just run an ultimate football draft article using Football Manager to allow them to play the drafted teams off against each other in a league afterwards:

Soccer Ultimate Fantasy Draft - Soccer - SI.com

Its a cool article imho and well worth the read if you have more than a passing interest in soccer.

You know...I could keep my mouth shut.

Just saying. If that DB somehow found its way to my inbox...nobody would ever have to know.

Yeah, I think that DB needs to get into FOFC's hands...we need our own draft.

I wonder if there are any out there, or if this was one made by SI specifically for SI?

If there's one out there we could totally do with that.

But otherwise...seriously. Who do I need to kill/pay to get my hands on that DB? I'd pay good money.

No surprise that the Messi/CRonaldo team won. If you ever have the Spanish League sim in full detail on your game they can each average over a goal per match. Plus they had Rooney and Karl Heinz Rummenigge starting alongside them. Then Romario and Raul off the bench, awesome.

I don't think the team with George Best used him to the best of his ability imho - he was an assist machine for them, but he was a great scorer as well irl ...

(would be fun to have the database available to everyone - unfortunately licencing for such a database is pretty much impossible because of the disparate nature of the players within it)

Of course. Although you know...we're a very discrete community...

Shit draft. No Phil Jones, Tom Cleverley, or Chris Smalling.

I am pretty sure they got this idea from a thread I started on Big Soccer years ago. Where did I get that idea from? Here.

Here's a link to a legends database - there are hundreds, if not thousands, of legendary players in it. From this I'm sure you could make your own teams if you wanted.

That bought back a few memorys. A lot of terrible picks as well. Is it just my imagination or was there no Alan Shearer in there?

I thought taking Friedel over Keller was a pretty poor pick, as far as US GK go. Also, taking a GK in the first round was just... stupid.

Every time I start reading this thread title I get a little excited thinking it's going to be about the swimsuit issue.
