Where's My Google Chat?

I have Chrome version 17.0.963.46 and chat is missing from Gmail. Anyone know how to get it back?

I dunno what version I have, but I downloaded it yesterday morning, and it's in my gmail. The scroll bars on the left side of gmail are weird, maybe you're just missing it?

Options/ mail settings/ Chat, make sure it's turned on.

It works fine on my chrome with the same version installed.

As a Google Apps school, I can tell you that this periodically happens and normally just resolves itself. Generally it has to do with general Google updating/maintenance.
