Alright Excel Gurus, Numberformatting Issue for version 2010

So we converted a spreadsheet from version 2007 to 2010 and the formatting has dissappeared. Columns that were formatted as numbers now show up like this 2.01135E+12 and dates look like numbers. The currency columns are missing the dollar sign. I fixed the errors, saved and closed the file. I go to open it and the formatting is gone. Does anyone know how to fix it, or is this some sort of a bug?

Thanks in advance.

Are saving it as .xlsx, or in a format that is compatible with old versions?

are the cells locked to changes?
Was there a conversion step that talked about numbers?

And, as a side note..

I don't really understand what you mean when you say you "converted" it.

You should open up the 2007 document in 2010, and do a save as. If it was something more complicated than that, it sounds like someone did something wrong.

As wade said, make sure when you are saving it to save as .xlsx or .xls. It sounds like something that would happen if you were saving it as a .csv file, as that removes all formatting, I believe.

Yup, this was it. Whoever did the switch didn't save it in the right format.

Thanks guys.
