Football Strategy

So, yeah...is there a definitive guide anywhere that speaks football strategy, but from the perspective of the following:

College (and by college meaning - I want something that goes into many, many styles of offense/defense beyond pro's multiple pro/west coast, etc.)
Mapping personnel to particular offenses and defenses (for instance, in a wide tackle 6 defense, you'll be looking for the following skills on the inside: etc., etc.)
Strengths/weaknesses of various offenses/defenses

I'm not looking for individual plays, more of philosophy, overall system and the athletes usually needed to run that particular offense/defense.

Ok, this probably doesn't help much, but, maybe it will ring a bell to someone out there.

I saw this show on Vince Lombardi a few weeks ago and it mentioned that he had read a book regarding football strategy and that he read it religiously, which helped him out a lot when he was just beginning to start coaching. I believe it also said he would still read it when he was coaching the Packers.

I just don't recall if they mentioned the name of the book though. Sorry.

Two books I would recommend are Offensive Football Strategies and Defensive Football Strategies.

These cover many aspects of the game for both sides of the ball including philosophies, schemes, adjustments and of course there are plays in both books as well, but they give you good coverage of everything in one book.

They are both compilations of articles from active and retired coaches and are published by the American Football Coaches Association.

You may even want to consider joining the association. It is 60 dollars for a 1 year membership and they have a lot of resources at your disposal online in their coaches library.

Finding the Winning Edge - Bill Walsh
On Football - Vince Lombardi
Phil Simms on Passing - (you will be shocked, much more informative than Joe Montana's Art and Magic)
Arnsparger's Coaching Defense Football
Coaching Footballs 46 Defense - Ryan
Passing by Coverdale and Gonzales
R4 Passing Operating System - Darin Slack
