Even on days when they don't get a hit, they feel they can make a difference in the field -- and they do. The Republic League announced its Slick Fielder Award honorees for 2089. This year's recipients are:

Continental League Names Top Rookie
Friday, November 4th, 2089: This year's outstanding newcomer has been selected and the honor goes to the St Louis rookie Jorge Reyes -- the recipient of the 2089 Continental League Kien-lung Teng Award.

The talented Hops left fielder took the trophy by hitting .314 in 154 games this season and finished with 194 hits, 11 home runs, 72 RBIs and 122 runs scored.


Maldonado Hits His Way to Kien-lung Teng Award
Friday, November 4th, 2089: The top Republic League rookie in 2089 was New York catcher Miguel Maldonado. He's the latest winner of the Republic League Kien-lung Teng Award.

During his first year in the league, the 24-year-old Maldonado hit .342 with 231 hits, 6 home runs, 69 RBIs and 87 runs scored. He also walked 30 times on his way to a .376 on-base percentage.

Little of Washington Named Best Pitcher
Sunday, November 6th, 2089: 25-year-old Pat Little of the Washington Freedom put together a good year in 2089 for such a young player. Little was named today as the winner of the Continental League Mauro Morales Award.

Little crafted an impressive 21-6 record and a 3.21 ERA. In 196.1 innings he allowed 164 hits, struck out 144, and walked 72.


Mauro Morales Award Goes to Waikiki Hurler
Sunday, November 6th, 2089: The votes have been tabulated for the 2089 Republic League Mauro Morales Award. It has been given to Jung-ook Mun of the Waikiki Beach Boys, who piled up 20 wins this season with an impressive 3.33 ERA.

In 33 starts Mun had a 20-8 mark with 146 strikeouts in 221.1 innings.

Sekine Selected CL's Premier Batter
Monday, November 7th, 2089: Tokaji Sekine of the Plantana Pirates proved that you can step out of the shadows and onto the stage if you've got the talent and the drive to hone your skills. Hard work, long hours and a tireless resolve paid off for him today in the form of the Continental League Bartolo Liriano Award.

Sekine hit for a .336 average while collecting 222 hits, 42 doubles, 10 triples, 41 home runs, 97 RBIs and scoring 112 times.


2089 Top Batter Selected In RL
Monday, November 7th, 2089: What a way to finish off the year -- being honored with the 2089 Bartolo Liriano Award in the Republic League. It had already been a very special season for Maricopa's Raúl Flores, but today's announcement really put the icing on his cake.

All season long Raúl Flores gave opposing pitchers fits by hitting .393 as he collected 241 hits, 46 doubles, 11 triples, 12 home runs and 94 RBIs.

I really don't mind doing them. Most of the time everyone is very clear on what to do and that helps. The times that it sucks for me is when I have to decide something.
