Garrett Snags CL Batting Honor in April
Saturday, May 1st, 2156: April was a very productive month for Ken Garrett, and today the Halifax first baseman was rewarded with the Continental League Batter of the Month honors.

He clobbered enemy hurlers for a .424 average, 6 home runs, and 14 RBIs and scored 25 runs.


Republic League Picks April's Best Batter
Saturday, May 1st, 2156: In April, Bob Farnell was the toughest out in the Republic League and that is the prime reason he was voted the Batter of the Month.

The Hartford second baseman rapped out 42 hits in 93 at-bats for a .452 batting average, hit 1 home run, drove in 6 runs and scored 17 times.

CL Announces Best Pitcher for April
Saturday, May 1st, 2156: Whether Colin Kidwell stays in Apex beyond this season remains to be seen, but while he's here he's making the most of it. In April the 31-year-old certainly pulled out all the stops by winning the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award.

He put up some fancy numbers with a 4-0 record and and an ERA of 3.60. In 35 innings he struck out 28, surrendered 28 hits, 4 walks and proved to be a solid performer in 5 starts last month.


April's Top Starter is Alsina
Saturday, May 1st, 2156: Veteran Francisco Alsina put together quite a successful stretch in April for the Colorado Rancheros, earning himself the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award.

Alsina racked up a 4-1 record in 6 starts, posting a 3.18 ERA over 39.2 innings and striking out 30.

CL Selects Rookie Star of the Month
Saturday, May 1st, 2156: Esteban Villegas is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Continental League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In April the Halifax hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .309 average with 25 hits, 7 home runs and 28 RBIs.


Republic League Names Rookie of Month
Saturday, May 1st, 2156: Jeffery Davis earned April's Rookie of the Month honors in the Republic League for last month's performance. The boyish Ann Arbor shortstop might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Davis hit .247 with 4 home runs, 13 RBIs and 16 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

Noblesville's Manuel Chosen CL Batter of the Month
Tuesday, June 1st, 2156: To survive in the bigs, you've got to be a scrapper like Carlos Manuel. It never pays to take a day off from the batting cages or to shrug off the advice of the hitting coach. It all paid off today as Noblesville's center fielder pinned down the Continental League Batter of the Month trophy today.

He hit .365 in May collecting 10 home runs, 28 RBIs and 21 runs scored.

On the season, Manuel is batting .306 with 15 home runs and 41 RBIs. He has played in 51 games.


May's Premier Batter Announced
Tuesday, June 1st, 2156: José Ríos battered Republic League pitchers all May and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around Front Office Offseason League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 29-year-old Ríos told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 27 games, Ríos hit .417 with 5 home runs, 21 RBIs and scored 21 runs.

This season Ríos is batting .366 with 33 RBIs, 36 runs scored and 9 home runs.

Castillo Chosen May's Best CL Hurler
Tuesday, June 1st, 2156: In May Noblesville starter, Héctor Castillo really put the strong arm on the other Continental League teams and hauled in the Pitcher of the Month trophy. He did it with an impressive 4 wins and 1 loss.

In 6 starts and 37.1 innings of work, Castillo limited opposing batters to 40 base hits and a .272 batting average. He fanned 27, issued 5 walks and had a 2.41 ERA.

In 10 starts this season Castillo has chalked up a 6-3 record and a 3.16 ERA.


Rebels Gray May's #1 Pitcher
Tuesday, June 1st, 2156: Joe Gray hasn't been around the big leagues long enough to know that youngsters shouldn't be winning Republic League Pitcher of the Month. But when you put up numbers like his, you're going to get some notice.

In May the Chico starter earned a 3-1 mark in 6 starts. He threw 40 innings, struck out 23 and compiled a solid 1.35 ERA.

Over the season Gray has thrown 70.1 innings and dished out 41 strikeouts with a 7-1 mark and a 2.05 ERA.

Best Continental League Newcomer Named
Tuesday, June 1st, 2156: A veritable toddler to the Continental League, Lambert Marleau just sewed up the Rookie of the Month trophy for May.

Over the past month the 22-year-old third baseman for Cleveland hit .306 with 26 hits, 6 home runs and 17 RBI. He also logged 7 walks and compiled a .362 on-base percentage.

So far this season Marleau has gotten 41 hits in 154 at-bats for a .266 batting average with 9 home runs. His stats include 25 RBIs and 23 runs scored. He has played in 47 games.


Olivas Selected RL's #1 Newcomer
Tuesday, June 1st, 2156: Javier Olivas was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 25-year-old left fielder definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen May's Republic League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 23 games Olivas batted .318 for Hartford, slapping 27 hits in 85 at-bats with 8 home runs, drove in 14 runs and scored 18 times.

Thus far this season in 43 games Olivas is batting .268 with 11 home runs, 24 RBIs and 30 runs scored. He has 45 hits in 168 at-bats.

CL Best Hitter Award to Noblesville's Carlos Manuel
Thursday, July 1st, 2156: On the heels of a very productive June, Carlos Manuel received Continental League Batter of the Month recognition today.

The battle-tested center fielder hit .381 for the Noblesville Millers and racked up 6 home runs, 22 RBIs and 21 runs scored.

This season Manuel is batting .329 with 21 home runs. His totals include 63 RBIs and 61 runs scored.


Torrez June's Best Bat Choice
Thursday, July 1st, 2156: Though his face is weathered and his hands are calloused, Gerardo Torrez can still get it done in Front Office Offseason League. In fact, the 34-year-old catcher for Ann Arbor was named the Republic League Batter of the Month today after putting up an impressive performance at the plate.

In June he batted .366 with 7 home runs, 29 RBIs and 20 runs scored.

Posting a .366 batting average to date, Torrez has 14 home runs and 55 RBIs.

CL Starter of the Month Goes to Kidwell
Thursday, July 1st, 2156: Colin Kidwell's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 5-0 in June, the 32-year-old Apex hurler has been named Continental League Pitcher of the Month.

He fanned 28 in 38 innings, logged an ERA of 2.84 and allowed opponents to hit .180 against him.

To this point in the season, Kidwell shows a 10-3 record, 15 starts, 104.1 innings, 75 strikeouts and a 3.97 ERA.


RL's Premier Starter is Nleto
Thursday, July 1st, 2156: Despite the number of years he's been in the league, Rubén Nleto still gets excited when he puts together a quality stretch like he had in June. The 33-year-old starter for Toronto was named Republic League Pitcher of the Month earlier today.

He collected 4 wins and 1 loss with 28 strikeouts in his 5 starts, putting up a fine 2.19 ERA in 37 innings of work.

To date this season, Nleto has registered 15 starts, 10-3 won-lost mark, 2.73 ERA, 102.1 IP, 59 strikeouts and 25 walks. Opposing teams have hit .276 against him.

Cleveland's Marleau CL Rookie of Month
Thursday, July 1st, 2156: Lambert Marleau's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Cleveland third baseman has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.

In June he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award.

During the month he hit .329 with 4 doubles, 2 triples and 4 home runs. Marleau also scored 12 times and drove in 11 runs.

Marleau is hitting .288 this year with 13 home runs, 36 RBIs and 35 runs scored. He has 68 hits in 236 at-bats, 24 walks and a .366 on-base percentage. Marleau has played in 74 games.


Ann Arbor Shortstop June's Best Rookie
Thursday, July 1st, 2156: Youngster Jeffery Davis emerged as the latest Republic League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Ann Arbor deserved the honor, batting .269 with 6 home runs and 17 runs batted in. Is the month of June a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Davis enjoy the limelight.

During the current season Davis is batting at a .266 clip with 13 home runs and 44 RBIs. He has played in 78 games and scored 52 times.

Manuel Takes Best Bat Award in July
Sunday, August 1st, 2156: Seasoned by several years of professional experience, 32-year-old Carlos Manuel put together a solid offensive month for Noblesville and was crowned July's top batter in the Continental League.

He batted .370 with 13 home runs, 30 RBIs and 26 runs scored.



A look at his season totals shows Manuel with 34 home runs, .339 BA, .442 OBP, 93 RBIs and 87 runs scored.


July's Best Batter Announced
Sunday, August 1st, 2156: Jorge Vázquez has been the model of consistency over the past month and has been a tough out, claiming the Republic League Batter of the Month trophy for July.

The Hartford first baseman hit .357 with 10 home runs, 26 RBIs and 22 runs scored. He was also walked 15 times and posted a .435 on-base percentage.

This season Vázquez is batting at a .310 clip with 27 home runs and 72 RBIs.

LaRose Collects CL Pitching Award
Sunday, August 1st, 2156: When Maurice LaRose takes the mound, a Noblesville victory is usually the result. At least that's the way it was in July.

He excelled with a 4-0 mark and a 1.04 ERA in 5 starts, tossed 34.2 innings, fanned 36 and held opposing batters to a .209 average.

That's why the Millers starter was honored today as the Pitcher of the Month by the Continental League.

In 20 starts this season LaRose has rung up a 11-6 record and a 3.07 ERA.


Los Angeles's Starter Receives RL Pitching Award
Sunday, August 1st, 2156: Tanner Moore of the Los Angeles Bruins was on top of his game the entire month of July, capping it off with the Republic League Pitcher of the Month honors.

He was outstanding in 5 starts with 5 wins and no losses, 40.2 IP, 27 strikeouts and a fine 1.33 ERA.

Noblesville's Flores Top CL Batter in August
Wednesday, September 1st, 2156: The hard-hitting right fielder from Noblesville, Jorge Flores, wielded a big bat in August and was hailed as the Continental League Batter of the Month.

He hit a healthy .354 with 9 home runs, 15 RBIs and 22 runs scored.

This season Flores has delivered 162 hits in 496 at-bats for a .327 average with 42 home runs. He is getting on base at a .413 clip and his totals also include 92 RBIs and 109 runs scored. This year Flores has played in 125 games.

Manuel Wins Best Bat Award in September
Friday, October 1st, 2156: When guys like Noblesville's Carlos Manuel win Batter of the Month awards, it just makes you feel good. In a productive September, the longtime Continental League veteran toyed with opposing pitchers all month long, collecting 29 hits in 90 at-bats.

The veteran center fielder hit for a .322 batting average and collected 9 home runs, 25 RBIs and 23 runs scored.

A look at his current stats shows Manuel with a .322 average, 50 home runs, 137 RBIs and 121 runs scored. He has played in 151 games.


RL's Top Hitter Announced
Friday, October 1st, 2156: Beach balls were coming in at Craig Ray in September and he banged, bashed and blasted them all over the park, putting up a .402 batting average and hauling in the Republic League Batter of the Month trophy.

Noblesville Starter Named CL's Premier Pitcher
Friday, October 1st, 2156: Manny Rivera is the latest Continental League Pitcher of the Month award winner. The Noblesville starter shined on the hill time and again last month and finished September with a sparkling 4-0 record.

In 5 starts he tossed 29.2 innings, posted 15 strikeouts, and put up a 1.52 ERA.

So far this season Rivera has a 10-7 record, 29 starts, 168 innings, 100 strikeouts and a 3.11 ERA.


Zúñiga Earns RL Top Pitcher Trophy
Friday, October 1st, 2156: When Jorge Zúñiga takes the hill, there's a good chance for a Toronto victory. At least that's the way it was in May.

He excelled with a 4-1 mark and a 2.70 ERA in 5 starts, tossed 36.2 innings, fanned 26, and held enemy hitters to a .257 average.

That's why the Marlboros star was honored today as the Pitcher of the Month by the Republic League.
