You'll take 7-3 and leading the NL East, tho, right?

Oh, of course. winning games with not batted in runners and having 3 of 4 games in a series go to extra innings is not good for the heart rate, though.

It's certainly better than previous years, where you just expect the team to lose!

Mets have the Braves number yet again. Bay at least contributed in the field and it looks like Davis may be snapping out of it. Johan goes tomorrow so we have a great shot at winning this series. 7-3 to start the season is an absolute dream.

2 runs in the 9th for the O's to send it to extra innings, then 6 in the top of the 10th, a Weiters Grand Slam!

Just got back from the game. He got a HUGE ovation for that throw. Crowd when absolutely crazy.

Of course the following inning he comes in too aggressively on a line driver and it goes over his head, then he chucks it in and misses the cutoff man. But they won, so all is forgiven.

Yeah, I saw this after going to bed when they were down 4-1/ Was too frustrating to see the defense continually let down a fine performance by Arrieta. Serves me right, I guess.

Someone should find out if he can do that from the mound.

That bleepin' Tommy John. Not enough that the guy had an uber long career in the bigs, but then he goes around ending the careers of other pitchers before they can catch him.

I hope that the Rangers are leaving something in the tank for the next two games against the Red Sox. After getting down 2-0 in the 1st, the Rangers have proceeded to score 16 unanswered through the 8th.

Josh Hamilton abso-friggin-lutely crushed a pitch in the 8th inning, sending it almost 20 rows past the bullpen in right center.

Sigh...

Dusty Baker. Not that the Reds deserved to win that baseball game, but jesus he is fucking stupid.

Use Valdez and Harris before Heisey and Frazier? Check.

Hit and run with MESORACO on first? Check.

Chapman is supposedly in the bullpen because of Bray not being ready or something? So, in a high leverage situation who do you go to? Bray. Check.

Get bent.

The pirates currently have 3 regulars under .100 and Tabata is hitting .114. Barmes and Barajas have been pretty solid hitters over their careers, so I'm not totally worried about them. Pedro Alvarez, on the other hand, is 1-24 with 12 strikeouts. I'm not sure when to press the panic button, but he'll have to go to AAA if he doesn't hit soon.

Not to mention pinch running a catcher for a catcher. I've defended him at times before but there is no defense at this point. The moves he's making this year are just idiotic.

For all the glimpses of bright spots the past couple of years, are they really in any better position than they have been for the past 20 years? Outside of Cutch they are just bad. Tabata looks like a 4th outfielder, Alvarez is nothing, Walker is a solid 2nd basemen but he really isn't a middle of the order guy.

I know Marte is a big prospect but what kind of arms do they have on the farm?

The biggest problem is that they have punch and Judy outfielders on the corner and questionable players on first and third. I don't think you can win with one 20 homer guy(Cutch).

As far as being better than the past, at least now they have some depth at all levels. For being a bad team, the cupboard was always bare.

Speaking of the Sox - Harrelson is the homer broadcaster, right? I have to say it's pretty over the top to hear "throw it away, throw it away!" on Betemit's pickup at third for the final out of the game. I have no bone to pick with the White Sox in general, but when a broadcaster is so over the top, it makes it very easy to root against.

I was listening to the game and on that play I was thinking "Please don't throw it away! Please don't throw it away!"

The Cole over Bauer or Bundy thing still annoys me. Bauer is going to be a huge stud, I can't believe they were turned off by his long toss routine. And Bundy will probably be up by next June at the latest.

I think Taillon is going to be a stud once they let him break the chains.

Keep in mind, they might also be trying to avoid Super 2 status for these players.

Something I learned today,

Jamie Moyer has faced slightly more than 8% of all batters to ever play Major League Baseball.

He's one of my all-time favorite players. I'll never forget being at a game in Oakland when he got Rickey Henderson out with a snap throw to second base when Henderson took a little too much of a lead.

Ivan Rodriguez will retire as a Texas Ranger on Monday, source says - ESPN Dallas

OK, so I need some help here.

Watching the Rockies game. 2 outs, Nicasio pitching to Venable.

Nicasio gets him to an 0-2 count. On the next pitch, Venable hits a routine grounder to first. NIcasio runs over to cover and Helton waives him off "i got this" Helton, being the speed demon he is at 38 doesn't get to the bag in time.

The play is ruled a hit. Am I off base in saying this should be an error on Helton? How can you blame the pitcher who did everything he was supposed to do on the play? The runner is only on because Helton doesn't throw the ball.

A little confused.

Rockies have 6 hits in the game. 5 doubles and an opposite field HR by Johnathan Herrera. Nicasio looks really good. He made a mistake on an 0-2 count that was hit in the seats. Other than that, he's getting ahead of hitters and inducing a lot of easy grounders.

This is the same team that couldn't hit a 49 year old, so I don't want to overstate it, but I'm happy the kid has recovered from that horrific hit to his neck last year.

I posted that earlier in the thread. I think it's actually pretty close to 9%

The other Moyer stat I find fascinating: He's made over 86 million in his career. . . and he didn't have his first million dollar contract until he was 32 years old. He didn't earn 2 million until age 35.

His two highest pay days have been 8 million dollars a year. Once when he was 42. Once when he was 48.

Scoring decisions are pretty dumb. I think that's pretty much universally going to be ruled a hit, however.
