FOFC- Front Office Jousting

Welcome ladies and gentlemen and, and all you other people NOT sitting on a cushion!

Today I have the grace and dignity to present to you, the battle of Royalty, the sport of Kings, the clash of titanic forces! Thats right, JOUSTING!

We will be putting on a tournament of the best and brightest that FOFC can offer in a single elimination event.

Each jouster will be seeded randomly in this first extravaganza! with future events being seeded by the skill of the players.

Each Tilt will consist of 8 passes. The speed of the mount, strength of the contestant and armor adorning the rider and mount as a unit will all play into the results of the battle.

Scoring will be as follows:

Striking your opponent: 1 Point
Breaking your lance on your opponent: 5 Points
Unhorsing your opponent: 10 points
Knocking out your opponent: 20 points

The jouster with the highest point total after 8 passes will advance. A knockout automatically advances the jouster delivering the knockout blow regardless of the score as his opponent is no longer fit to joust fo some time.

The Grande Champion of Each Tournament will gain honor, fame and monetary earnings as well as the horses of any jouster that he unhorses. In addition he will gain 3 points to put towards his skills and equipment.

To enter the Tournament please send me a PM with the following information:

Each player has a basic stat line and may spend 6 points to increase it:
Speed: 0 (based on horse and equpiment)
Strength: 3
Toughness: 3
Skill: 3
Armor: 6

Strength Toughness and skill can be increased for 2 points per point of increase. Skill 4 would cost you 2 points, skill 5 would cost you 4 points etc)

Mounts:
For the first event we will be sticking with some basic horses. in future events other mounts may be brought into play.

0 pts Thoroughbred Speed 7 Strength -1
1 pt Mustang Speed 6
2 pts Percheron Speed 5 Strength +1

You May also buy the following equipment:

1pt Shield +1 armor
1pt light armor +1 Armor
2 pts Hvy Armor +2 Armor
3pts Full Plate Armour +3 armor -1 Speed
1pt Barding(for horse) +1 Armor -1 Speed

Name of Rider:
Name of Horse:
Colors: primary:
Secondary:
Highlight:
Symbol: (make this something easily created as an icon)
Origin: (City/State/County/country/Planet you wish to be considered a hero of)

Include any equipment and stat changes in your msg to me. You may spend 6 total points creating your jouster.

As I collect entries I will write up some practice tilts so we can see what is transpiring as more and more of our annointed heros register for the....

First Ever Front Office Jousting Grande Tournament!

In 793, ancestors of Erik Flamebeard of the Neither Here Nor There set off the Viking Age when they raided Lindisfarne.

In 2012, Flamebeard will bring forth the Second Viking Age. And Sir Cumstance will be nothing but a Cumspot.

(it will be might be a surprise to you at this point in the thread to learn that Sir Cumstance is Spanish and his horse is named 'Inquisition' .... after all no one expects the Spanish Inquisition )

Erik Flamebeard of the Neither Here Nor There decrees that there should be no deadline for people signing up. More for him to smash.

Sir Cumstance also welcomes the deadline being extended further, the more people to admire his grace the better.

He does however offer condolences to Erik should attendance increase as then obviously more shame will be heaped upon you once you lose.

Everyone would understand if you'd prefer fewer people to be present .... just remember theres no shame in realizing you're competing against your betters and withdrawing before your blood is shed, you can always go back to sheep farming - its a respectable profession

No deadline you may enter a competitor at any time. Players added in the middle of a tournament will be included in the next event.

I plan to build the signup system into the website in time but right now just give me the information here.

NOTE: anyone wanting to include a short 1 or 2 paragraph background for your character please PM them to me as well.

So far the only thing Flamebeard has smashed is a pub, 2 brothels and himself, when he was too drunk to swing a hammer and it fell on his head.

Medical personnel have attended him and announced him fit...enough, to compete.

As Sir Cumstance stood idly by waiting for the Roofies to fully take hold, a mischievous sneer upon his face....

Meanwhile, in a far off corner Crimson Duke looked on with disdain as his pathetic competition acted out their odd man crush.

Duke Crimson pleased to meet you, you were named after your tendency to blush when vanquished I believe? .....

Good show on the fluffy beard, it'll cover your shame nicely, nearly looks real even - can only see the glue around the edges.

Let's try this to introduce Jawouk:

When Coach K recruited Jawouk to Duke, he needed to test his athleticism. Krzyzewski brought in the only creature fleet and agile enough to keep up with Bafou - a thoroughbred horse. When the basketball season ended, and Bafou spent some time on campus, in the library, and at Shooters II, he realized that this horse was the prettiest gal on Duke's campus. Jawouk escaped, riding his horse all the way back to Cameroon. He named her for the wildlife reserve where he keeps her - Santchou. After years of training, Santchou charges better than Duke forwards take them, and Bafou has a stronger drive than any of his ex-teammates.

You Sir Cumstance will soon find out that your rhetoric is "dripping" with irony as you lay defeated on the field of battle......Perhaps we may then change your name to Sir Camestance...

Lets try this for the formal introduction paragraph:

Cmon its a (cough) sport involving people driving large planks of wood into your body at high speed .... you'd have to be somewhat drunk to think participating is a good idea imho

Sir Gavin the Gold is no drunken wretch. Gavin's monunted on his big, red horse, Devil's Fury, and is best known for his repeated "Championing" and "scoring" and then jousting, and then "scoring" again. The queen is pleased with him.

Ok folks, the first event has started!! Check out the Grande Tournament of the United States Thread!

Also: I apparently have completely lost the ability to create forms and form handlers. I am currently using Joomla 1.5 for the FOFJ website and would LOVE to have someone assist me by creating the application form.

I have all the info and can even send you a simple version of how it should be laid out. If anyone wants to assist and gain honor and celebrity for doing so please PM me!
