Read something that the Blue Jays are 10% through their season. My one question: Have the Marlins hit a HR at home yet, and if so, is there a video clip of that sexy beast in action?

I think they hit one last weekend. I know they have because I saw the highlight and my wife was watching with me.

Her comment "Someone thought that was a good idea?"

Man, I think five of the 6 losses the Dodgers have had have come in the opponents last innings of AB

Every time I see that thing I think of Big Gay Al. It's like a parody of Miami, created by someone who hates Miami.

This guy is tied for the league lead in wins, and is the first reliever ever to record 4 wins in his first 6 career appearances.

Woo hoo Angel Pagan! Good to at least get one win (should have won yesterday) against the Reds, and Dusty Baker's club.

Justin Turner just had one of the best at bats I have ever seen. 12 pitch AB after going down 0-2 to earn a bases loaded walk to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth.

It's pretty awesome to have Jonny Venters and Craig Kimbrel closing out the last two innings. I still remember the days of Dan Kolb.

Yeah, your team is one of the VERY few teams right now that can feel comfortable with your pen. If you take a look around the league right now the closer situation is just awful. It makes me wonder if A. closer arent more valuable than moneyball gives them credit for B. If some MLB teams need to re-think this entire closer strategy. I would speculate Boston is already kicking themselves for letting Papelbon go despite the fact he seemed to be public enemy #1 in the Boston area.

B is what "moneyball" people have argued for a long time. B is completely related to A. The closer exists primarily to relieve the manager of blame when decisions go bad. It's a strategy of convenience.

The money part is fine and I get that part.

I was just wondering why exactly does it seem so many Boston fans cant stand Papelbon? It must have something to do with something more than performance.

While not Mariano Rivera he was a steady closer for you guys through 2 world championships yet it just seems Boston gave him no love.

EDIT Had to look at his career stats I guess he wasnt there for the 1st championship in 2004. I guess he was only there for 1 of your championships.

Boston gave him plenty of love. Boston turned our collective backs on him when he took potshots back at us after leaving town.

It's one thing to leave - it's another thing to crap on the city where you built the track-record of performance that enabled you to sign the big money deal and leave.

Ok good. Atleast it wasnt a performance type issue. I was worried that you guys may have unrealistic expectations

I'm a big papelbon fan, still am. I just wish he did that irish jig more often. I think the snide remarks were more about sucking up to Phillie fans than anything else. And I'm generally pretty forgiving of closers performance-wise, I think hometown teams' expectations can be a little too high as far as demanding 1-2-3 innings and not going deep into counts.

Lester was pretty good too, and the Red Sox manage to get to .500 about 2 1/2 weeks earlier than they did last year. But I don't think Crawford is coming back this year, and they're going to have to make a big move at some point.

Last night's Royals Review thread had a Mike Trout/Bryce Harper - who will have a better career topic with a lot of chat during the game thread last night. I think the consensus was more towards Trout

Kemp knew it and so did Gorzelanny. He is seriously on fire and he looks so relaxed at the plate too.

It's the same thing I wonder when I see more walks than strikeouts, more hits than innings pitched, a career high flyball rate, and a 2.27 ERA. The chances of him having an ERA under 5.00 if he continues to pitch like this are slim to none. I don't think Braves fans will end up missing him.
