CL Best Fielders for 2098 Selected
Monday, November 3rd, 2098: Good glovemen take pride in their defensive skills. They know they make a difference in baseball. Even on days when they don't get a hit, they feel they can make a difference in the field -- and they do. The Continental League announced its Slick Fielder Award honorees for 2098. This year's recipients are:

Monday, November 3rd, 2098: "Flashing the leather" and "good with the glove" are ways to describe players who help their teams by playing great defense. Today the most dependable glovemen in the Republic League for 2098 were announced. Slick Fielder Awards will be presented to these top-notch defenders:

CL Presents Kien-lung Teng Award
Tuesday, November 4th, 2098: What a season it was for Washington's Tony Díaz in this new star's first year in the Continental League. He put together a year that earned him the 2098 Kien-lung Teng Award.

The 28-year-old third baseman crunched some good numbers with a .322 batting average and a .415 on-base percentage to go with his 18 home runs, 64 RBIs and 68 runs scored.


Morales This Year's Premier Rookie
Tuesday, November 4th, 2098: He's the toast of the town in Spring -- the brand-new 2098 Republic League Kien-lung Teng Award winner -- second baseman José Morales.

In his debut season he compiled some good stats, hitting .310, batting in 44 runs and scoring 56 times, while playing in 131 games. The 23-year-old newcomer also had 34 doubles, 5 triples and 9 home runs.

Best Hurler Award Presented by CL
Thursday, November 6th, 2098: The Mauro Morales Award for 2098 has been presented and the Continental League winner is Ed McGinnis of Havana.

"It's always nice to receive an award like this," said McGinnis. "I just hope I can improve on my performance next year and be in the running again," the Banana Sluggers star told reporters.

McGinnis excelled with an impressive 18-11 record in 33 starts. In 233.1 innings he yielded 222 hits and 62 walks, while striking out 193 and compiling a fine 3.09 ERA.


Ann Arbor's Castillo Nets RL Mauro Morales Award
Thursday, November 6th, 2098: The Ann Arbor Wolverines have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making.
It's Freddy Castillo, this year's Republic League Mauro Morales Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance.

Castillo compiled a 18-5 record in 38 starts, tallied 236 strikeouts in 227.2 innings and recorded a 2.65 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .233 batting average against him.

Continental League Names #1 Hitter
Friday, November 7th, 2098: Tokaji Sekine has plenty of options after winning the Continental League Bartolo Liriano Award for 2098 today.

The soon-to-be free agent compiled a .355 batting average and a .439 on-base percentage this year while pummeling the opposition with 204 hits, 41 doubles, 6 triples, 43 home runs and 128 RBIs.


Best Bat In RL Belongs To Sandoval
Friday, November 7th, 2098: New York's Mauro Sandoval put the wraps on a fine campaign today by winning the 2098 Republic League Bartolo Liriano Award.

The 28-year-old veteran scorched the opposition with a .309 average, picking up 199 hits, 45 doubles, 3 triples, 51 home runs and 133 RBIs, while scoring 131 runs.
