CL Slick Fielder Award Winners Named
Saturday, November 5th, 2101 "Hit 'em where they ain't" is a great hitting philosophy, but it doesn't always work when a fielder can seemingly appear out of nowhere to make the play. These magicians are often taken for granted as the season grinds along, but today they take center stage. The Continental League Slick Fielder Award selections for 2101 are: Pitcher: Jaime Hernández (Washington Freedom) Catcher: Fernando Durango (St Louis Hops) First Baseman: Otis Edwards (Havana Banana Sluggers) Second Baseman: Eduardo Guzmán (London Bishops) Third Baseman: Mario Tapia (Washington Freedom) Shortstop: Esteban Berrera (Oshawa Mullets) Left Fielder: Javier Flores (London Bishops) Center Fielder: Tadataka Nishiyama (Plantana Pirates) Right Fielder: George Lyons (St Louis Hops) RL Honors Slick Fielder Award Winners Saturday, November 5th, 2101 Slick Fielder Awards are the symbol for defensive excellence, a recognition of the best of the best in defense. The Republic League Slick Fielder Award trophies for 2101 have been awarded to these outstanding fielders: Pitcher: Gi-hyuk Yi (New York Legends) Catcher: Roy Cooper (Waikiki Beach Boys) First Baseman: José Mendoza (Waikiki Beach Boys) Second Baseman: Fletcher Hilton (Cleveland Naps) Third Baseman: Ernest Hopkins (New York Legends) Shortstop: Tomás Valenzuela (Las Vegas Wildcats) Left Fielder: Corey Dugas (Las Vegas Wildcats) Center Fielder: Gilbert Purchase (Ann Arbor Wolverines) Right Fielder: Ho-win Mao (Las Vegas Wildcats)

Tuesday, November 8th, 2101 The Washington Freedom have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making. It's Narihira Oshima, this year's Continental League Mauro Morales Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance. Premier Batter Named by Continental League
Wednesday, November 9th, 2101 Omaha's Jaye Norman put the wraps on a fine campaign today by winning the 2101 Continental League Bartolo Liriano Award. The 29-year-old veteran scorched the opposition with a .343 average, picking up 227 hits, 52 doubles, 12 triples, 29 home runs and 111 RBIs, while scoring 112 runs. Maricopa's Valenzuela Wins RL Bartolo Liriano Award Wednesday, November 9th, 2101 Miguel Valenzuela has visions of big money next year. And why shouldn't he? He did everything Maricopa asked of him in 2101 and even exceeded the expectations of some in the final year of his contract. He might or might not re-sign with Maricopa, but he's certainly earned the right to demand a big deal by wrapping up the Republic League's Bartolo Liriano Award today. He clobbered the opposition with 205 hits, 40 doubles, 8 triples, 33 home runs and 137 RBI, while hitting .308 and scoring 108 runs.

We have 5 FA with compensation attached. All 5 of those players are hitters but they are very good hitters. We'll play around with it the next couple weeks. I've played with it but I've not played with it outside of test simming in a solo environment so I'm not 100% certain about it.

How come some picks just "disappeared"? Is that the new comp rules?

First, did you look in game or did you rely on hyde's posts? If the posts do accurately reflect the in-game results, obviously that is rather curious. In that case, I would investigate what teams are missing and whether they signed or lost any compensation free agents.

Hmm, I may be more curious than I thought. If hyde's post is correct, the missing team is St. Louis--which signed away my own compensation free agent Dan Iverson. I did not get his first round pick, it seems.

Thats the new compensation rules. You lose your pick completely instead of it being given to the other team. The key is you won't be picking 20 deep in the supplemental round.
Sorry I wasn't around earlier. Kids being out of school now I won't be around all day everyday.

So the team getting comp gets 1 pick instead of 2? Interesting.

Yes it one. The use of this is to resign your stars. Its mostly a deterrent to other teams to sign the players. In turn you'll get to keep your stars.
