Not sure I would pass that info along to the family.

Maybe I'm jsut dead inside, but how does it change anything 11 years later?

Yes it dredges up that horrible time, but does it really change what you've done and how you've moved on?

I don't see how. They lost a husband and father when the building was attacked. That hasn't changed one bit. After this long what difference do the details make? he's still dead.

Maybe you should read the article.

Ya, difficult truth v. more comforting falsehood is one of those things that has no right answer, and I think people are just completely split on what they prefer.

Edit: And ya, you can't make that decision for someone else...and I think you have to err on the side of truth.

The family requested to receive whatever information might be forthcoming, and you would consider denying them that?

Just wow.

I read the article:

" ...And then you get this10 years later. It just changes everything."

I stand by my statement, this changes nothing. He's still gone, you've had a decade to come to accept and understand that he's gone. Why does the manner in which he left change your life in the NOW?

I would assume that many family members have thoughts (nightmares) about how the person died that run through their minds every so often, and getting this information has changed the "narrative" in their minds and makes it difficult to thinnk about the person suffering in ways they either chose to ignore before or believed didn't happen. So I can see how something like this could bring a new level of pain to a loved one.

Now, you can say that it's 11 years later they should get over it, but I'm not going there.

Doesn't matter how much time has passed, being forced to imagine a loved one going through something horrific is going to be harrowing. That's really rough to finally get some scrap of something after all these years, and have it be something disturbing instead of some sort of comfort.

Yeah, that's tough to have to relive. Still, I think you want to know what happened and work through it. Knowing the truth in a tragedy like that atleast puts you on the path of reaching peace - even though it's a lot harder at first.

The article confuses me at one point it mentions she thought he was initially killed in the crash and didn't suffer when the building collapsed, and then it says he called her telling her he was alright, Which one is it?

When the first airplane hit the other tower, he had no way of knowing that a second one was going to hit his tower.

No it doesn't. It never once mentions he was in the other building.

Not explicitly, but to me this made it obvious.

Not to mention that the article says that she thought he died immediately when Flight 175 made impact...

I think the article is pretty bogus. Then again the source says it all...
