cartman's FOFC College Football Top 25 poll, Week 8, open for voting
The top teams escaped pretty much unscathed this weekend, but not without a few with some nail-biting moments. Time to open up voting for this week's poll. Submissions are due by 7pm Central on Thursday, Oct. 25. Here's how this week's poll fared:

It's not like KSU beat OU at their house or anything...

A fair point. Computers don't necessarily think of these things. But here are KSU and OU's FBS schedules in descending order of their opponents' SRS, for comparison's sake: Kansas State: 24-19 @ (4) Oklahoma 27-21 @ (25) Iowa State 55-14 @ (31) West Virginia 52-13 v. (64) Miami (FL) 35-21 v. (84) North Texas 56-16 v. (88) Kansas Oklahoma: 19-24 v. (5) Kansas State 41-20 @ (8) Texas Tech 63-21 (n) (13) Texas 52-7 v. (88) Kansas 24-7 @ (100) UTEP The demolition jobs of two top-13 teams makes up for the close home loss, in the formula's eyes. I'm not terribly inclined to disagree. |

Yeah. Looked at Texas, and it made less sense that they're 13. TT is the (high-scoring) kind of team that is rewarded by this formula. More interesting is that, even taking MOV into account, Notre Dame lands at #6 (tough schedule). S'pose the human pollsters aren't far off, after all. |

That's an interesting point, and actually I've actually heard it reiterated many times as a "convincing win." If we look at the facts, KSU won 24-19. OU had an unforced turnover on the KSU 1 yard line, when Blake Bell fumbled a snap that was right into his hands. KSU had nothing to do with that. That's seven points lost. KSU scored a touchdown when Landry Jones waddled out of the pocket and fumbled the ball into the KSU end zone. Seven points for KU on a boneheaded play by Jones. Taken in context, I don't see how this is a "convincing" win for KSU. Perhaps the pollsters are also taking into consideration that OU's first team defense is responsible for giving up 14 points to KSU, 0 points to Texas, and 13 points to Texas Tech. We'll see what the overhyped, over-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish are able to do against OU this Saturday. |

A win is a win in college football and for OU to be ahead of KSU in any shape or form at this point is a bit silly. KSU is undefeated, OU is not. If you want to put them 5/6 or 9/10, that's fine, just don't put OU ahead of them
