The Heavy Rain Game Story Thread **MEGASPOILERS - DO not read if you not played**

This is a thread about the game heavy rain for the PS3.



I've been talking to mckerney about the different paths and choices I made in the game and thought it would be neat to compare.

Again, Do NOT read this thread if you have not played the game yet. Go play it!


So here's my questions/comments:
For your first go-thru of the game(I assume people have played it more than once)...
1. Comment on various surprises and fun parts of the game.
2. Which parts did you fail and what did that take you to pathwise?
3. Which characters survived/failed/died/went to jail?
4. Did you complete the trails/ which ones?
5. How did it play out/end for you?

My path was definitely fraught with failure.

I was sketchy on some of the button mechanics. I completely misinterpretted how to do the rapid press. (like X or Square really fast). That cost me big.

I was doing well until the trials.

I did the driving the highway the wrong way and got out. That sequence was pretty awesome.

Then the glass trial totally screwed with me. I couldn't figure out what it wanted me to do, then realized I needed to go slow. Still moving down hallways was difficult. I flubbed the electricity trial.
I could not figure out the right path. Shocked too many times. By then Madison was nursing me completely.

The following was cutting off the finger. Again tough to figure out but i succeeeded. Damn that sucked listening to. Yikes!

Of course I totally failed on the hotel room with Madison. Granted I DID have sex with her before that and forgave her once I found out she was a reporter. But when Madison left and went to warn him I had no idea the room number and guessed wrong twice. yuk.
THis causes them to go after him. HE breaks out of the room thru the window or whatever. THen there is a rooftop chase. The wrong number + missing a few of the turns and button presses got me caught and he went to jail.

Jayden died. Oh man that was hard. It was at the junkyard. THe fight with the big guy. HE eventually started up his bulldozer and ran me over. That is where I needed rapidfire buttonmosh and did not do it right. I thought it wanted me to match the speed of the symbol. gave me two tries.
Anyway. He died.

So Ethan at the police station in one of those side room. Madison had to do the rest herself. She went to the nightclub and danced. I did everything right except the makeup. (didn't see the arrow against the wall). Had to look that up. Succeeded in the room with the fat guy.
WEnt to the old lady and got the info.
THen it asked me who I wanted to call before going to the address and it said Jayden and ethan as choices. HAHAHA

Jayden dead and ethan in jail. great choices. I called no one and went. GOt in a fight with Scott and ended up letting him die. Saved Sean. WHEW!!!!!!!!!!

NIce happy ending.

Oh yeah I DID shoot nathaniel (the guy with the crosses that blake was harassing). My trigger finger hit the button!

I also did not hesitate in murdering the drug dealer for the murder trial. I felt a little bad about that but i'd already failed one of the other trials, plus the guy was shooting at me.

The jayden ending was cool cause jayden appeared inside the ari glasses that blake finds at the end. Boake puts them on and sees the ARI cloud world and Kayden is there smirking at him.

But I almost didn't solve this one.

When I was scott in that second to last scene and it had me strike a match , I'm like ooookay....then he starts taking evidence one by one.
and putting int in the fire. I'm like. Wait a minute...did I do sometihng wrong? What happened?

Then he did it again, I"m like HEY! DOn't do that! WHy the fuck did you do that!!!!!......................................................................oh.

You bitch!

I DID save Lauren from the car! This was one of the big places that made me confused that scott was not the killer actually. Why would he save her?

Why did he keep harassing the rich dudes? They never really answered that.

Oh yeah I DID save the rich dude but ONLY because I thought his testimony was needed.

But did scott really think the rich guys had evidence? They ended up being a copycat killer for sure. But that doesn't mean they had evidence.

I was about 50/50 with my choices of speech throughout the game. A lot of times I'd choose a lot of things to say and then it just goes away and i get nothing for it. LIke a failure. BUt Some of those places I think you're meant to fail at that point no matter what you do.

I then would look whenever there was a new chioce on subsequent dialogue attempts and choose that.

I think I failed a couple simply because I couldn't see the word ior shape as it rotated around the character's back.

I really wanted to like this game but quit after never figuring out how to leave the house after spending 3 hours stuck I lost interest. Now I don't even have a PS3.

Are you talking about in the prologue with Ethan (main charcter) and the 2 kids?
That's the first place you are. It WAS a little confusing but there was still a lot to do there. Whenever you saw a box with an arrow you were supposed to do something, that includes doors.

I do indeed remeber getting frustrated at Ethan's apartment. It was hard to do anything. It had a schedule of food to give and dinner, yet it did not give you an option arrow to make dinner or get him a snack. I was annoyed by that sequence because of that. Cause sure I get it. It was showing that Ethan wasn't being a good parent. But that should have been MY choice, not the game's/game writers.

I think I wasted quite a bit of time doing this a few times trying to figure this out. Oh yeah time went by way too fast. But also I think this was interntional.

I rocked the electricity trail this time through! Woot! I swear that glass sequence is some of the worst gameplay I've seen in awhile.

Figured out how to get through the maze. They didn't exactly publicize in any way how you were supposed to know what to do so overall this challenge kinda sucked.

I also found a DIFFERENT way to get Scott upstairs to see the rich guy. First time I used Lauren. This time something I found something else.
Lauren sure is really easy. She really does seem to hook up with Scott in an "interested" way from the getgo.
