Your favorite "Live" albums
Don't care about the genre. I like too many to bother listing. Just feed me. Hopefully I'll end up with some good previously-unconsidered material to check out ...

cartman listed 3 of the 4 I came here to mention, Simon and Garfunkel's concert in central park, and Nirvana and Clapton's MTV Unplugged concerts. The fourth one is Queen - Live at Wembley.

Frampton, Exit Stage Left, Nirvana Unplugged, The Who Live at Leeds, and while its more than one album, I have always loved Springsteen's Live boxset.

I love Simon and Garfunkel, wore out one of their Greatest Hits LP when I was younger, but I remember catching this concert on TV and going "man do they STINK". That was my first introduction to how much work gets done in the studio cleaning up the songs.

Look for the Deluxe edition which gives you the full show rather than the 6 tracks from the original album, and Tommy on the second disk. |

The Guns N Roses live double album is just great.
Although it did blow my mind to find out that a.) Axl went back in the studio and re-recorded some of the vocals, and b.) this apparently is pretty common for "live" albums.

For anyone who likes some modern bluegrass/folk, I'd highly recommend Alison Krauss and Union Station "Live". She is one of the best live singers I've ever heard.

Martin Sexton, Live Wide Open - one man with a guitar, effects pedals, a fantastic voice, and the help of a skilled drummer. For my money, the best representation of a supremely talented man's work.

One album I "discovered" yesterday was The Velvet Underground - Live at Max's Kansas City. It's basically bootleg stuff - a guy just set his tape recorder on his table - but it really captures the atmosphere of what it would have been like to be there. That band was excellent.
Also concur with Jimi Hendrix at Monterey. Oh, and the Scorpions. Oh, and Nirvana. Oh and [blah, blah, blah] ... I will now check out Allison Krauss.
