I keyboard macro while gaming quite a bit, and with my new cpu & keyboard my alt key gets stuck depressed. Anyone here by chance know how to make this not happen ?

Give it a sharp tap, and/or press down on it hard for a few seconds.

I don't mean physically stuck. I mean, my cpu thinks its pushed down.

I use alt/tab macros and other macros quite often - and my cpu seems to hold the alt button when I do it.

Not every time, but often enough that it's irritating / game-breaking.

Can work for that too. Can just be a sensor stuck. It's almost certainly a physical problem on some level.

Or... check to see if your Sticky Keys are on (assuming Windows). Ease of Access Center under the Control Panel, make sure the box is unchecked for the Sticky Keys.

Also see a setting in there for 'Lock Modifier Keys when pressed twice in a row' - untick.

This can't be it. The binds I use, I don't even actually hit the "alt" key. Example, one of my keyboard profiles reads ...
When I hit the "1" button - my keyboard is set to perform :
1
Alt/tab
1
Alt/tab

(which basically performs the 1 action on one window, alt/tabs to the other window, strikes 1 there, then alt/tabs back to window 1.)

So, the "Alt" button, can't be getting physically stuck - as, I'm not physically really pushing it . But, my computer (sometimes - not every time) keeps it depressed for some reason.

I don't have anything ticked in the lock mod keys settings, (or any other sticky keys settings).

Also, thank you for the suggestions and brain space on me

Hmmm. Seems you are right JS, tapping it again does unstick it. Do you know of any way to prevent it from happening ?

Most times, just giving it a good hard rap (like a rage-quit slam) will clear it up Other than that, and if it's not Sticky Keys, maybe you can map it to the other ALT key?
