FYI, NCAA is charging $4 for online March Madness, get it free now

The NCAA is charging $4 this year in order to get games on your phone or online. Coke has a promo right now where you can get it free.

Text 0TEAMNAME (any name works after the 0) to 2653 and they'll send you a link and a code to sign up so that you get all the games streamed for free.

Seems like a weird time to finally start charging for the service, when all games are now being televised on the package of networks.

Nevertheless, thanks for the tip.

I had no idea I got TruTV in HD until I just checked 3 seconds ago. It's sandwiched in with channels I just skip when running through the guide.

that sounds like totally fake information, don't do that. 0UNC, however, works just fine.

I texted in 0Bruins, so not only does it get me the link to free streaming games, it's also a pretty spot on prediction for the tournament this year.

After last year's tournament, every now and then I'd miss my intended button on the remote and I'd hit the "FAV" button and it would switch over to TruTV. The only time I ever used that function, for the reason you stated.

I can't follow directions apparently but 0RUTGERS worked. I'm guessing they take pity in our fans and waved it through.

Also, not sure if this trick will work this year, but previous I would do the following to watch all games at once:

Open one game in Firefox (or chrome). Once it starts playing, copy the URL into a new firefox window. In the old window, open another game. Then repeat. For some reason, it never worked on internet explorer.

I assume you could also just run one instance of each type of browser, but who wants to run IE.

Or you could just be like me and have 1 running on the phone, one on the TV, one on the computer, and one on the laptop.

Nice. We always have a March Madness party in my 5th grade class and we throw the games up on the screen. It's a nice way to unwind after a week of state testing.

Is anyone else having trouble logging into this? I pull up the link that was e-mailed to me and when I put in my e-mail address and password it asks me for a valid e-mail address. WTF?

I got through with no problem. Now, the real test will be when the games start, but so far, so good. I've got the March Madness Live board up and ready to go.

And then if I try to re-register with my original account, I get this:

"An account has already been created with the specified email address. Please enter a different email address to register for your March Madness Live account."

Hmm... It could be something as simple as someone with a code similar to yours accidentally using your code instead of theirs. Not that you can do anything about it. That sucks.

EDIT: I can't imagine someone went through the trouble of jacking your email address and code for this purpose. Sounds like a problem with their system.

For me it's a bit slow and laggy but I'm chalking that up to Comcast's usually suckitude. It's awful for a lot of things- hulu, stations like Fox, Comcast's own Xfinity tv, etc. Comcast just kindof sucks out loud

From what I've read there isn't a pay option this year, but in order to see games that aren't on CBS you need a cable subscription as verification. So all CBS games will be streamed from the NCAA's site for free and games on TNT, ect will be streamed to you on the NCAA site after verification (similar to ESPN 3 now). There's supposed to be a 4 hour grace period for verification at the start of the tournament in case their servers have issues.
