It was a good month for Ann Arbor Winged Lingerines third baseman Pedro López, April's Republic League Batter of the Month.

Veteran Roberto Manuel put together quite a successful stretch in April for the Brooklyn Brownstones, earning himself the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award.

Manuel racked up a 5-0 record in 6 starts, posting a 1.40 ERA over 45 innings and striking out 36.

RL's Best Starter is Addis

Elliott Addis's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 5-1 in April, the 35-year-old Ann Arbor hurler has been named Republic League Pitcher of the Month.

He fanned 25 in 42.2 innings, logged an ERA of 1.69 and allowed opponents to hit .233 against him.

A veritable toddler to the Continental League, Cristián Gonzáles just sewed up the Rookie of the Month trophy for April.

Over the past month the 24-year-old right fielder for Noblesville hit .292 with 31 hits, 4 home runs and 12 RBI. He also logged 3 walks and compiled a .330 on-base percentage.

Kawamura Takes Best Bat Trophy in May

It's a time for celebration in Leduc as Toshimichi Kawamura has just walked away with May's Continental League Batter of the Month award.

He socked 41 hits in 106 at-bats to put up a .387 batting average, 6 home runs, 24 RBIs and 17 runs scored.

Currently Kawamura is batting .300 with 7 home runs and 33 RBIs.

Ward Earns May's Top Batter Prize in RL
Wednesday, June 1st, 2203
Hot-hitting center fielder Bobby Ward of the Indians really pounded Republic League pitchers in May, winning the Batter of the Month award.

He hit .362 with 8 home runs, 23 RBIs, 26 runs scored and 7 walks to finish with a .395 on-base percentage.

Ward is hitting at a .333 mark this season. His stats show 10 home runs, 37 RBIs and 43 runs scored. He has played 53 games for the Indians.

Sawyer Acclaimed Top Pitcher in May

Despite the number of years he's been in the league, Doug Sawyer still gets excited when he puts together a quality stretch like he had in May. The 32-year-old starter for Leduc was named Continental League Pitcher of the Month earlier today.

He collected 6 wins and no losses with 27 strikeouts in his 6 starts, putting up a fine 1.03 ERA in 43.2 innings of work.

Thus far this season Sawyer has posted a 7-2 record, started 11 games, struck out 48 batters in 72.2 innings and compiled a 2.48 ERA.

RL Announces Best Pitcher for May

The hottest hurler in the Republic League last month was Manuel Rivas of the Omaha Bees. He caught the attention of everybody in the league with some eye-catching stats, good enough to win the RL Pitcher of the Month.

In May, Rivas starred with an impressive 4-1 record. In 5 starts he gave up 35 base hits and struck out 17 in 39.2 innings with a 2.04 ERA.

In the current season in 11 starts, Manuel Rivas has a record of 8-3 with 38 strikeouts in 83 innings and a 2.06 ERA.

CL Selects Rookie Star of the Month

Carlos Martínez is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Continental League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In May the Brooklyn hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .373 average with 38 hits, 1 home run and 17 RBIs.

Thus far this season Martínez has hit .315 with 2 home runs, 24 RBIs and scored 32 times.

Toronto Left Fielder May's Best Rookie

Youngster Manolo Vargas emerged as the latest Republic League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Toronto deserved the honor, batting .282 with 5 home runs and 19 runs batted in. Is the month of May a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Vargas enjoy the limelight.

For the year Vargas is batting .263 with 62 hits and 8 home runs. He has scored 38 times and driven in 26.

Continental League Picks June's Best Batter

Carlos Rodríguez battered Continental League pitchers all June and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around Front Office Offseason League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 28-year-old Rodríguez told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 26 games, Rodríguez hit .358 with 8 home runs, 22 RBIs and scored 17 runs.

This year Rodríguez has 16 home runs and a .317 batting average.

Kimura Garners RL Batter of the Month Award

June's Republic League Batter of the Month trophy was claimed by center fielder Seiki Kimura of the Hartford Riverhawks.

Last month he compiled a .333 batting average with 7 home runs, 18 RBIs, 22 runs scored and a .395 on-base percentage.

In this current campaign Kimura is hitting at a .259 clip with 11 home runs and 33 RBIs.

Enríquez Is CL's Best Pitcher in June

It was a very good month for Mario Enríquez in June. The 38-year-old veteran starter for the Leduc Bullets outpitched everybody -- young and old -- to claim the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award earlier today.

Enríquez ran up a 3-0 record in his 6 starts during the month. In 42.1 innings he fanned 45 and recorded a 0.85 ERA.

This season to date Enríquez has a record of 6 wins and 2 losses with a 2.24 ERA, has appeared in 17 games and struck out 107 in 108.1 innings.

Tremblay RL Winner, Top Hurler in June

June was a very good month for Noah Tremblay of the Tokyo Catfish. He held opposing hitters for a .214 average and took home the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award.

In 7 starts he claimed a 3-0 record as he put up a 2.27 ERA and struck out 47 in 47.2 innings.

This year Tremblay has fanned 112 in 130.2 innings and collected a 5-6 record with a 2.82 ERA.

Cristián Gonzáles's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Noblesville right fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.

In June he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award.

During the month he hit .295 with 4 doubles, 3 triples and 8 home runs. Gonzáles also scored 24 times and drove in 18 runs.

So far in 2203 Gonzáles is batting .252 with 13 home runs, 35 RBIs and 49 runs scored. He has 78 hits in 309 at-bats and a .308 OBP.

Today Hartford's Seiki Kimura was named the Republic League Rookie of the Month for June. He punished RL hurlers hard the entire month, collecting 36 hits in 108 at-bats.

CL's #1 Batter Announced
Monday, August 1st, 2203
When guys like Noblesville's Kenny Alexander win Batter of the Month awards, it just makes you feel good. In a productive July, the longtime Continental League veteran toyed with opposing pitchers all month long, collecting 33 hits in 99 at-bats.

The veteran left fielder hit for a .333 batting average and collected 5 home runs, 16 RBIs and 18 runs scored.

This year Alexander is hitting .317 with 22 home runs.

Mathieu Coutu Winner in July
Monday, August 1st, 2203
Mathieu Coutu of the Tokyo Catfish swung a mean bat for the last 30 days and was acclaimed the Republic League Batter of the Month for July.

The 32-year-old right fielder slapped out a .322 batting average, 11 home runs, 32 RBIs, 22 runs scored and a .381 on-base percentage.

Currently Coutu is batting .273 with 22 home runs and 74 RBIs.

Medellín Wins CL Top Pitcher Award
Monday, August 1st, 2203
The Continental League scribes have picked July's Pitcher of the Month and have given the trophy to José Medellín of Cleveland. He was devastating on the mound last month with a standout 5-1 mark.

The Cyclones star hurler made 7 starts with a 0.97 ERA and surrendered 31 hits in 46.1 innings. He struck out 38 and walked 7.

Presently Medellín has a 10-3 mark in 26 starts with a 1.83 ERA. He has given up 135 hits in 157.2 innings, struck out 119 and issued 25 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .230 batting average against him.

July's RL Top Pitcher is Riverhawks Donahue

The #1 pitcher this past month in the Republic League was Domenic Donahue of the Hartford Riverhawks. He worked the hitters over real good, finishing July with a superb 3-0 record and a 1.27 ERA.

The Riverhawks star made 5 starts and surrendered 24 hits in 35.1 innings. He struck out 24 and walked 9.

This year Donahue has a 9-6 mark in 21 starts with a 3.51 ERA. He has given up 121 hits in 133.1 innings, struck out 80 and issued 53 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .246 batting average against him.

Martínez Selected July's Top CL Rookie

Carlos Martínez earned July's Rookie of the Month honors in the Continental League for last month's performance. The boyish Brooklyn third baseman might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Martínez hit .378 with 2 home runs, 12 RBIs and 18 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

This season Martínez is batting .332 with 125 hits and 5 home runs. He has scored 59 times and has 44 runs batted in.

Vargas Wins Newcomer of the Month

Manolo Vargas certainly had a lot to crow about in the Republic League in July. The rookie left fielder for Toronto tagged opposing pitchers for a .314 batting average and was the top votegetter for the Rookie of the Month trophy.

He won it by going 33-105 in 25 games with 1 home run, 10 RBIs and 21 runs scored.

So far this year Vargas is hitting .289 with 12 home runs.

August's Best CL Hitter is Julián Ortíz

The hard-hitting left fielder from Napa Valley, Julián Ortíz, wielded a big bat in August and was hailed as the Continental League Batter of the Month.

He hit a healthy .370 with 9 home runs, 20 RBIs and 17 runs scored.

So far this year in 131 games Ortíz is hitting .286 with 33 home runs, 78 RBIs and 74 runs scored.

RL Announces Best Batter Award

Max Bates put together a good August to earn the Republic League Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Ann Arbor officials that he belongs on the big league roster.

The Winged Lingerines left fielder posted a .342 batting average with 10 home runs, 16 RBIs and 28 runs scored.

Thus far this year Bates has hit .236 with 31 home runs and 64 RBIs.

Bartolo Chávez of the Napa Valley Winemakers was on top of his game the entire month of August, capping it off with the Continental League Pitcher of the Month honors.

He was outstanding in 7 starts with 5 wins and 2 losses, 44.1 IP, 26 strikeouts and a fine 2.23 ERA.

This season Chávez has compiled a 13-10 record with a 3.06 ERA.

RL Top Pitcher Award for August to Fulton

The Republic League announced the winner of the Pitcher of the Month Award for August.

It went to Will Fulton of Ann Arbor for his outstanding 4-0 record and 2.25 ERA.

Fulton also chalked up 6 starts, 44 innings and 18 strikeouts.

A veritable toddler to the Continental League, Carlos Martínez just sewed up the Rookie of the Month trophy for August.

Over the past month the 23-year-old third baseman for Brooklyn hit .366 with 34 hits, 5 home runs and 15 runs batted in. He also logged 12 walks and compiled a .443 on-base percentage.

This year Martínez is batting .338 with 10 home runs and 59 RBIs.

Great Month Gets RL Top Rookie Trophy

The top-ranked Republic League rookie in August was Hartford's center fielder Seiki Kimura.

Last month he played in 27 games and hit .300 with 4 doubles, 1 triple, and 5 home runs. Kimura also scored 13 times and drove in 20 runs.

For the season Kimura is currently batting .260 with 22 home runs and 65 RBIs. In 135 games he has reached base at a .312 rate and scored 61 runs to date.

So I guess a lot of offense does help. Nice to get back to the playoffs this year. Of course, it helped to also have a 14-5 extra inning record and 25-16 one-run-game record.

It appears that statistically, Hartford and Omaha were not only better squads, but much better.

Of course, it helped to also have a 14-5 extra inning record and 25-16 one-run-game record. It appears that statistically, Hartford and Omaha were not only better squads, but much better. __________________ . .
