It will be interesting to see who the Lions use as their tackles. I'm guessing the Lions traded their one 5th for a 4th next year.

Agreed. UCLA has had some great punters over the past decade and I think Locke is the best. He was consistent his whole career.

He's also a lefty, so we saw more than a few PR's misjudge the ball because of the different rotation off his foot. He also does KO's too

Well yes, if they played at UCLA, punting was clearly the one skill they got good at.

Definitely not a sexy draft thus far for the Bears.

2 OL, 2 LB.

Jeff Baca is drafted to the Vikings. First OL drafted from UCLA since 1999. An incredibly poor run

Interesting. With 3 players in the 7th, RU has 7 guys selected in the draft, 3 by NE.

AR QB Tyler Wilson to Raiders. I guess he might get a chance to compete and play so that's good. He's got McFadden out there to help him along.

I would prefer a more stable and successful team but it may be better than Ryan Mallett in NE never playing.

The Bears got a steal with Marquis Wilson in the 7th round. Dude was a first rounder before character issues.

Must be some serious questions about him if he drops that far. Plenty of guys with character issues still get drafted on the first day and in the middle rounds. Not sure if I can consider that a steal when just about no one else wanted him.

Flynn isn't a given, and Pryor hasn't done anything yet. Might as well find out what you have in Flynn, and if he doesn't work out, the Raiders will have their cap issues taken care of and be a better team overall.

Already liked the Seahawks, but like them even more now that they picked up Aussie Jesse Williams at DT. Might have been just local-boy hype, but the local media expected him to go in the late 1st/early 2nd round.

It would be a hilarious story to have another 4th round QB named Wilson come in and beat Flynn out for the starting job again this year. Are there any QB's named Wilson who will be in next years draft?

I actually looked. There's a list of next year's prospects at each position on CBSsports.com, probably 150-200 QB's but none with the last name Wilson.

I think the 49ers drafted BJ Daniels just to remind everyone that his college eligibility is finally up.

If you were asking me, yeah, I checked their 2015 list (next year's juniors) as well. No dice there either I'm afraid.

Best bet might be some kid with Wilson as a first name, but I ain't sifting through about 300 names to find out

Heh. I see him playing the lead on the practice squad so the defense can practice the read-option without needing Kaep to do it.

If Marqueis Gray somehow managed to make the team or practice squad they'll have a TE that can run the read option in practice.

I think future QB's learned to not stick around for another year in college if you're projected to go in the first round. Barkley and Jones must be kicking themselves in the ass this weekend.

I know he always had academic issues, but the fact that he only really played one year has to say something.

This is a complete guess on my part, but I bet at least part of that trend (if it actually is one, I have no idea) is from Facebook/Twitter which makes it much easier to find issues with these kids, or gives them a more public method for them to say stupid things.

I agree. I think it's just that there is so much more information out there and things are so much harder to hide because of Facebook/twitter, phones with cameras and video cameras. So, the trend is likely more of a case of more information being available/more reporting than "kids these days" being all that much more problematic than "kids" 5 or 10 years ago.

I wouldn't think what they post would be so much an issue as to how they acted on-field, in practice, in class (if they ever go) or having rap sheets. Mathieu's issues has nothing to do with Facebook, I don't think.

Not sure what Mathieu has to do with more players being listed as having character issues. There being guys like him is nothing new. Lawrence Phillips and Cecil Collins didn't fall in the draft because of social media either. One extreme case of a guy who dropped is hardly a sign of a trend of there being more players with character issues.

When I see people mention character issues, I don't see talk of Facebook and Twitter. I see arrest and people doing things like throwing their coaches under a bus.

The latest thing I read was prisco's grades on each team. I didn't count but seems like way too many players with character issues were drafted.

One funny note, while everyone thought it was ridiculous for the raiders to take Janikowski in round 1, that was one of the best 1st rounders from the last 20 al Davis drafts lol

The Lions used the 4th to last pick in the 5th round to draft a punter, Sam Martin out of Appy State. I have no idea who he is or whether he's any good. But the fans here are going crazy because they did that. It's easily the most talked about 5th round pick in Lions' history.

Lions info on Sam Martin. MM liked him based on his visit. Still pulled the trigger early IMO. P is an obvious need, but they jumped based on other teams, as he wasn't top 10 on most boards for the position.

Still. He is an upgrade at the pure position, will handle Kickoff duties (old ass Akers K, which team is happy with? WTF? ) Plus hes a pretty good holder. I just hope the scouts realize that Boone, NC is elevated, unlike Ford Field.

Akers did set the NFL scoring record two seasons ago, and tied the longest field goal of all time last season. His 63-yarder is also the only one of the three that wasn't kicked at elevation.
