EA Sports did WHAT?

Awesome.

Report: EA Sports used Tim Tebow's name in 2010 video game - CBSSports

Quote:
The play, called “Shotgun Twin QB Tebow,” was found in the 2010 version of EA Sports' NCAA football game. Here's a screenshot of the play. That version of the game was released in the summer of 2009, which was also Tebow's final year in Gainesville.

I guess I'm still missing the point of all of this. The federal Lanham Act makes it pretty clear what the dividing line is between right to publicity and commercial infringement. The athletes never win these cases in the end.

We can always make a case that college sports is fraught with hypocrisy. But so is the world. It's still a pretty simple case.

It's not Tebow who has a lawsuit here - it's the university and/or NCAA if I'm understanding the rules right.

I don't get what the big deal is. If it's mentioning a QB it's obviously talking about a different Tebow.

That joke needs to be retired. It's not funny anymore.

I'm still fuzzy on the part where it took somebody four years to find this play in the game.
