Not generally majorly into College Baseball, but..

W&M entered this year as an at-large bid. Only their 3rd appearance in school history.

They've beaten Ole Miss twice and only lost 1-0 to one of the best pitchers in the nation, Rodon from NC State.

They can still win the regional if they beat NC State tonight at 6:00 and again tomorrow night.

W&M has only allowed 4 runs in the three games so far.

I'm a huge LSU fan, and this year looks like a year where they have the talent to win it all. Unfortunately, they played really sloppy so far in the regionals, though they have won their first two so far. The first game was sloppy pitching with 6 walks and 2 hit batsmen (I think... didn't look it up) and the the second game included 5 errors.

When they have it together, it's tough for most teams, minus UNC and Vanderbilt, to keep up.

Coastal Carolina is already out of their regional and were lucky to even make the tournament after not winning the Big South Conference regular season or tournament-and got knocked out in the semis there...by a team that they had beaten 20 straight times.

Got put into a tough regional with Virginia Tech, Oklahoma, and UConn-lost by 4 to Oklahoma and then had the misfortune of being the only team that had to face a #1 seed in the losers bracket-and VT crushed them 9-1.

GT forces a Monday game vs Vandy. A decidedly average team by GT standards they are now 3-1 on the year vs the top two national seeds.

Also I got a kick out of Columbia eliminating New Mexico. The ivies own the lobos in ncaa tournaments.

Credit where it's due, the sophomore Heddinger pitched a whale of a game against Vandy, 2 hit complete game shutout. Not bad for a guy making his 6th start of the season. Won the ACC title game last year, pitched a 2-hit CG shutout to give Buford a state championship the year before ... I think his big game credentials are now established

Reading through the recaps of Sunday's games, how's this for crazy

Quote:
Kansas State won its first NCAA regional title in school history, scoring two runs on a pair of wild pitches in the same at-bat to edge Arkansas 4-3.

Arkansas pitcher Jalen Beeks threw a wild pitch on the second pitch of an attempted intentional walk to Kansas State's Jared King in the seventh inning, allowing Ross Kivett to score from third. Two pitches later, on ball four, Beeks' second wild pitch brought in Tanner Witt from third and gave the Wildcats (44-17) the lead against the Razorbacks (39-22).

UNC... I feel like the athletic department as a whole sometimes just forgets how to play as a favorite. The baseball team, the #1 national seed, blew a 2-run lead by allowing a late homer in their first chance to finish FAU, and then went to 13 innings to beat FAU tonight, including putting up 3 runs in the 12th. UNC had an OBP above .500 and still was pushed to the brink thanks to 4 Owls homers. Sheesh.

Indiana is the first Big Ten team to make it since '84.

Also, I didn't watch a lot of games, but it seemed like in a couple of stadiums (stadia?), that instead of infield dirt, they just had different colored turf. Was I just seeing things, or is that a thing to have brown carpet replace dirt for infields?

I saw that about the Big 10 yesterday and was very surprised. I know they aren't traditional baseball powers, but I figured some team from the conference would have been good enough to get there on a semi-regular basis.

My beloved NC State Wolfpack will be making just their second appearance in the College World Series and their first since 1968! After UNCHeats win against South Carolina today we even get to play them in our first matchup on Sunday!

Pretty excited for our guys to have made it this far. We have a pretty solid squad and I expect us to make some noise. I think we missed being one of the 8 seeded teams in the tourney by a very small margin after we lost 2 of 3 to FSU late in the season.

GO PACK!!!

Its field turf. Its the stuff they are using in football stadiums and indoor fields. The fields are colored to look like baseball diamonds. It eliminates rain outs.
There are a couple high schools around here with it.

I fully expect Rodon to torture the Heels on Sunday. I also fully expect our bats to suck again. Hey, let's play two-for-one again....

That's not been the only oops from what I've seen. There's apparently merchandise being sold with the wrong team logos or names on it:

Twitter / Matt_HayesSN: So there's this shirt on sale ...

Twitter / PackRadio: Oops, seems they put the wrong ...

Excellent game from Rodon and the Pack rips the Heels, 8-1. Most excellent Father's Day gift.

That was incredibly frustrating to watch, especially because that's the least patience from LSU's bats I've seen in the past 2 months

LSU should fire their manager after that pulled bunt sign. Two balls with a shown bunt attempt and you pull it off on 2-0, only to ground into a double play?

Blind Squirrel + Nut = My psychic ways

Translation - Don't expect any more predictions from me. I will retire from the psychic game batting 1.000!

I am thrilled with the Packs performance against UNC. Hopefully our speed and defense combination will continue to pay dividends in the huge ballpark. We have some good pitchers after Rodon but there is only one Rodon. Will be interesting to see how Tuesday plays out.

Good luck taking out the Tarholes tomorrow!

Though I thought LSU was championship caliber, they just couldn't find their bats when it counted most.

Good luck to the remaining teams!

I had to look that one up ... from maroonandwhitenation.com

It’s the closest any team sport at MSU has come to a national championship. It’s the closest any division I school in the state of Mississippi has come to a national championship in a team sport.
